Description
一般式(N−001)から一般式(N−019)で表される化合物の中では、一般式(N−001)から一般式(N−009)で表される化合物であることが好ましく、一般式(N−001)から一般式(N−003)で表される化合物であることが更に好ましく、一般式(N−001)で表される化合物が特に好ましい。
本発明の重合性化合物含有液晶組成物は、一般式(M)及び一般式(Na)の化合物を同時に含有することが好ましく、式(XX−1)及び一般式(Na)の化合物を同時に含有することが好ましく、式(XX−2)及び一般式(Na)の化合物を同時に含有することが好ましく、式(XX−3)及び一般式(Na)の化合物を同時に含有することが好ましく、一般式(XX−4)及び一般式(Na)の化合物を同時に含有することが好ましく、一般式(M)及び一般式(Nb)の化合物を同時に含有することが好ましく、式(XX−1)及び一般式(Nb)の化合物を同時に含有することが好ましく、式(XX−2)及び一般式(Nb)の化合物を同時に含有することが好ましく、式(XX−3)及び一般式(Nb)の化合物を同時に含有することが好ましく、一般式(XX−4)及び一般式(Nb)の化合物を同時に含有することが好ましい。

プレチルト角 :UVを10J照射した後のプレチルト角[°]
(比較例1、実施例1及び実施例2)
LC−A(比較例1)、LC−1(実施例1)及びLC−2(実施例2)の重合性化合物含有液晶組成物を調製し、その物性値を測定した。重合性化合物含有液晶組成物の構成とその物性値の結果は表1のとおりであった。
(比較例2、実施例3及び実施例4)
LC−B(比較例2)、LC−3(実施例3)、LC−4(実施例4)及びLC−5(実施例5)の重合性化合物含有液晶組成物を調製し、その物性値を測定した。重合性化合物含有液晶組成物の構成とその物性値の結果は表2のとおりであった。
(比較例3、実施例6、実施例7、実施例8及び実施例9)
LC−C(比較例3)、LC−6(実施例6)、LC−7(実施例7)、LC−8(実施例8)及びLC−9(実施例9)の重合性化合物含有液晶組成物を調製し、その物性値を測定した。重合性化合物含有液晶組成物の構成とその物性値の結果は表3のとおりであった。
UVを20[J]照射したとき、LC−Cは重合性化合物の残存量が58[%]であったのに対して、LC−6は23[%]、LC−7は10[%]、LC−8は30[%]、LC−9は28[%]であった。
UVを60[J]照射したとき、LC−Cの重合性化合物の残存量が20[%]であったのに対して、LC−6は0[%]、LC−7は0[%]、LC−8は2[%]、LC−9は2[%]であった。
本発明の重合性化合物含有液晶組成物であるLC−6、LC−7、LC−8及びLC−9中の重合性化合物の残存量は、比較例3であるLC−Cと比較して、十分に少なく、より少ないUV照射によって十分に重合が進むことが確認された。
また、本発明の重合性化合物含有液晶組成物であるLC−6、LC−7、LC−8及びLC−9、比較例3であるLC−Cは、いずれもプレチルト角が84〜86[°]であり、十分に配向制御が可能であることが確認された。なお、プレチルト角の測定温度は25℃であり、AUTRONIC−MELCHERS社のTBA105を用いた。
(比較例4、実施例10及び実施例11)
LC−D(比較例4)、LC−10(実施例10)及びLC−11(実施例11)の重合性化合物含有液晶組成物を調製し、その物性値を測定した。重合性化合物含有液晶組成物の構成とその物性値の結果は表4のとおりであった。
UVを20[J]照射したとき、LC−Dは重合性化合物の残存量が64[%]であったのに対して、LC−10は27[%]、LC−11は23[%]であった。
UVを60[J]照射したとき、LC−Dの重合性化合物の残存量が31[%]であったのに対して、LC−10は2[%]、LC−11は1[%]であった。
本発明の重合性化合物含有液晶組成物であるLC−10及びLC−11中の重合性化合物の残存量は、比較例3であるLC−Dと比較して、十分に少なく、より少ないUV照射によって十分に重合が進むことが確認された。
また、本発明の重合性化合物含有液晶組成物であるLC−10及びLC−11は、いずれもプレチルト角が83〜85[°]であり、十分に配向制御が可能であることが確認された。なお、プレチルト角の測定温度は25℃であり、AUTRONIC−MELCHERS社のTBA105を用いた。
Claims (17)
- 第一成分として、一般式(M)
但し、環B及びZ22がそれぞれ複数存在する場合、それぞれ異なっていても良く、同じでも良い。)で表される液晶化合物群から選ばれる化合物を1種又は2種以上含有する、25℃における誘電率異方性(Δε)が−2.0から−8.0である重合性化合物含有液晶組成物。 - 一般式(Na)、一般式(Nb)又は一般式(Nc)で表される化合物群から選ばれる化合物が、以下の一般式(N−049)から一般式(N−069)
- 更なる成分として、一般式(II)
- 一般式(M)で表される化合物の含有量が0.01質量%から2.00質量%である請求項1から8のいずれか1項に記載の重合性化合物含有液晶組成物。
- 一般式(Na)、一般式(Nb)又は一般式(Nc)で表される化合物の含有量が0.5質量%から50質量%である請求項1〜9のいずれか1項に記載の重合性化合物含有液晶組成物。
- 一般式(II)で表される化合物の含有量が10質量%から90質量%である請求項6に記載の重合性化合物含有液晶組成物。
- 一般式(III−A)から一般式(III−J)で表される化合物の含有量が10質量%から90質量%である請求項8に記載の重合性化合物含有液晶組成物。
- 25℃における誘電率異方性(Δε)が−2.0から−8.0の範囲であり、20℃における屈折率異方性(Δn)が0.08から0.14の範囲であり、20℃における粘度(η)が10から30mPa・sの範囲であり、20℃における回転粘性(γ1)が60から130mPa・sの範囲であり、ネマチック相−等方性液体相転移温度(Tni)が60℃から120℃の範囲である請求項1から12のいずれか1項に記載の重合性化合物含有液晶組成物。
- 請求項1から13のいずれか1項に記載の重合性化合物含有液晶組成物を用いたことを特徴とする液晶表示素子。
- アクティブマトリックス駆動である請求項14に記載の液晶表示素子。
- PSAモード、PSVAモード、VAモード、IPSモード又はECBモードである請求項14又は15に記載の液晶表示素子。
- プレチルト角が80から89.9度である請求項14から16のいずれか1項に記載の液晶表示素子。
