Description
1つ以上の実施形態において、本発明のクラスA屋根システムは、図1を参照して説明され得る。システム10は、可燃性デッキ12と、任意の絶縁層14と、1つ以上の熱可塑性膜複合材料16及び16’(シート16及び16’又はパネル16及び16’とも称される)と、を含む。対応のパネルのそれぞれは、特にそのサブコンポーネントを説明するときに、膜アセンブリと称されることがある。上述したように、そして以下で更に詳述するように、膜アセンブリ16及び16’は、膨張可能なグラファイトを含む布地を含む。膜アセンブリ16及び16’は、既知の技法を使用してデッキ12及び/又は絶縁層14に固定されてよい。1つ以上の実施形態において、膜アセンブリ16及び16’は、複数の機械的締結具を使用してデッキ12に機械的に取り付けられる。例えば、締結具18は、図1に示されるように、膜アセンブリ16及び16’のラップ領域17に取り付けられてよい。
1つ以上の実施形態において、熱可塑性膜アセンブリ16は、図2に示されるように、補強布24を含む。更に具体的には、膜16は、第1層26と、第2層28と、第1層26と第2層28との間に積層された補強布24と、を含む積層体である。
本発明の実施形態は、熱可塑性膜の個々の熱可塑性層(例えば、層26及び28)の構成によって必ずしも限定されるものではない。1つ以上の実施形態において、熱可塑性層は、熱可塑性ポリオレフィン、ポリ塩化ビニル、エチレンビニルアセテート、エチレンアルキルアクリレートポリマーなど、及びこれらの混合物を含んでよい。
上述のように、膜16及び16’は補強布24を含んでよい。1つ以上の実施形態において、補強布24は、その表面に膨張可能なグラファイトの粒子が配置された布基材を含む。例えば、図2に示されるように、布地24は、布基材30と、基材30の表面に配置された膨張可能なグラファイト32と、を含む。1つ以上の実施形態において、膨張可能なグラファイト32は、バインダ34とも称され、布基材30上に配置される、ポリマーマトリクス34内に分散されてよい。これに関しては、布基材30上に配置された膨張可能なグラファイトコーティング31が参照され得る。図2に示されるように、コーティング31は、基材30の繊維又はフィラメント上に層又は部分層を形成してよい。他の実施形態において、コーティング31は、基材30の全表面に層又は部分層を形成する。
1つ以上の実施形態において、膨張可能なフレークグラファイト、膨張フレークグラファイト、又は膨張可能なフレークとも称され得る膨張可能なグラファイトは、インターカラント(intercallant)材料がグラファイト結晶又は粒子のグラファイト層間に含まれる、インターカレートしたグラファイトを含む。インターカラント材料の例としては、ハロゲン、アルカリ金属、硫酸塩、硝酸塩、種々の有機酸、塩化アルミニウム、塩化第二鉄、他の金属ハロゲン化物、硫化ヒ素、及び硫化タリウムが挙げられる。本発明のある特定の実施形態において、膨張可能なグラファイトは、非ハロゲン化インターカラント材料を含む。ある特定の実施形態において、膨張可能なグラファイトは、重硫酸グラファイトとも称される硫酸塩インターカラントを含む。当該技術分野において既知のように、重硫酸塩インターカレーションは、硫酸、及び硫酸塩インターカレーションを触媒する働きをする他の酸化剤で、高結晶質の天然フレークグラファイトを処理することによって達成される。
1つ以上の実施形態において、膨張可能なグラファイトは、相補的難燃剤と共に布基材上に配置されてよい。これらの相補的難燃剤は、本発明のポリマー組成物中で、燃焼抵抗性、特にUL 94及び/又はUL 790によって試験されるような火炎伝播を増加させる、任意の化合物を含んでもよい。概して、有用な難燃剤としては、火炎に曝露されたときに試料の表面にわたって炭化層を形成することによって作用するものが挙げられる。他の難燃剤としては、難燃剤化合物の熱分解時に水を放出することによって作用するものが挙げられる。有用な難燃剤はまた、ハロゲン化難燃剤又は非ハロゲン化難燃剤として分類されてもよい。
上述のように、布補強材24は、内部に膨張可能なグラファイト32が分散されたバインダ34を含むコーティング31を含んでよい(すなわち、コーティングがその上に配置されてよい)。ポリマーラテックス又はポリマーラテックスバインダとも称されるバインダとしては、スチレンブタジエンゴム(SBR)、スチレンブタジエンスチレン(SBS)、エチレン塩化ビニル(EVC1)、ポリ塩化ビニリデン(PVdC)、変性ポリ塩化ビニル(PVC)、ポリビニルアルコール(PVOH)、エチレン酢酸ビニル(EVA)、及びポリ酢酸ビニル(PVA)が挙げられ得るが、これらに限定されない。1つ以上の実施形態において、バインダはアスファルトを含んでよい。他の実施形態において、バインダはアスファルトを欠いている。更に他の実施形態において、バインダとしては、当該技術分野において既知のアクリル又はエポキシバインダ又は樹脂が挙げられ得る。一般的に、アクリルバインダ又は樹脂は、アクリレート、アクリル酸、メタクリレート、メタクリル酸、アクリロニトリル、及び/又はアクリルアミドモノマーの重合から生じるラテックスポリマーを含む。他の実施形態において、バインダはポリウレタンを含み得る。
上述したように、本発明の代替実施形態は、複合材料とも称され得、図3(複合材料40が、膜46の平面表面47に接着されるか、別の方法で固定される裏地42を含む)において示される膜アセンブリを含む。膜46は、膜16に対して上述した膜の特徴(例えば、熱可塑性層26と28との間に積層された布補強材24を含んでよい)を含んでよいか、熱可塑性膜46は別個の特徴を有してよい。膜アセンブリ40が布補強材24を含む場合、布補強材24は、上述したように、膨張可能なグラファイトを含むコーティング層を含んでよいか、膨張可能なグラファイトを含むコーティングを欠く、又は実質的に欠いてよい。1つ以上の実施形態において、膜46は、非補強膜である。すなわち、膜46は、補強材24を欠いている。1つ以上の実施形態において、膜46は、互いに積層された1つ以上の押出層を含み得る、積層構造を含んでよい。他の実施形態において、膜46は単一押出物である。膜46が1つ以上の押出物を含むかどうかにかかわらず、上述したように、各押出物は、類似又は異種の熱可塑性組成物の2つ以上の共押出層を含んでよい。
膜アセンブリが積層された布補強材、又はプラスチック材の間に挟まれた布補強材を含み、布補強材が膨張可能なグラファイトを含むか、その上に膨張可能なグラファイトが配置される1つ以上の実施形態において、膜の製造では、膜の製造前に膨張可能なグラファイトが布地の上に配置される必要がある。他方では、膜が膨張可能なグラファイトを含む裏地を含む場合、膨張可能なグラファイトは、布地を膜に取り付ける前に、又は他の実施形態では、布地を膜に取り付けた後で布地内に配置されてよい。
1つ以上の実施形態において、上記で示唆したように、本発明の膜は、様々な技法を使用して屋根デッキに取り付けることができ、これらの技法はすべて当該技術分野において既知である。したがって、当業者は、本発明の膜を取り付けて、必要以上の計算又は実験を行うことなくクラスA屋根葺きシステムを形成することができるであろう。
Claims (13)

前記複合材料が、対向する平面を有する熱可塑性膜と、前記平面のうちの1つの少なくとも一部に取り付けられた裏地であって、前記熱可塑性膜と前記屋根デッキとの間に配置される裏地とを含み、
前記裏地が、第1平面及び第2平面を有する布基材と、前記第1平面及び前記第2平面の各々の表面に配置されたコーティング組成物とを含み、前記布基材の前記第1平面が前記熱可塑性膜に取り付けられており、前記コーティング組成物がバインダ内に分散された膨張可能なグラファイトを含み、前記布基材の前記第2平面上に配置された前記コーティング組成物の量が、前記布基材の前記第1平面上に配置された前記コーティング組成物の量よりも多い、屋根アセンブリ。 - 前記屋根デッキが可燃性であって、可燃性の前記屋根デッキが木材である、請求項1に記載の屋根アセンブリ。
- 前記熱可塑性膜が熱可塑性ポリオレフィンシートを含む、請求項1に記載の屋根アセンブリ。
- 前記裏地が、少なくとも部分的に前記熱可塑性膜の前記平面に埋め込まれることによって前記熱可塑性膜に固定されるポリエステルフリースを含む、請求項1に記載の屋根アセンブリ。
