Description
・制御手段は、1画素を構成する液滴の量毎に互いに異なる複数の駆動信号を用いることに限定されない。例えば、階調数が2以上である場合に、制御手段は、1の階調のみにおいて複数の駆動信号を用いてもよい。
・1の階調で用いられる吐出周期が互いに異なる駆動信号の数は、3つに限定されず、2以上であればよい。例えば、制御手段は、第1駆動信号と、第3駆動信号及び第4駆動信号のいずれか一方とを用いて、エネルギー付与手段を制御してもよい。
・第1駆動信号は、上述の実施形態ではT=1.2Taであるが、0.85Ta≦T≦0.9Ta又は1.2Ta≦Tであればよい。第3駆動信号は、上述の実施形態ではT=0.95Taであるが、0.9Ta<T≦0.98Taであればよい。第4駆動信号は、上述の実施形態ではT=1.056Taであるが、0.98Ta<T<1.2Taであればよい。
・制御手段は、画像の縁部分を形成するときに、複数の駆動信号を用いてエネルギー付与手段を制御してもよい。
・エネルギー付与手段は、圧電式のものに限定されず、他の方式(発熱素子を用いたサーマル方式、静電力を用いた静電方式等)のものであってもよい。
・吐出口組を構成する吐出口の数は、2に限定されず、3以上であってもよい。
・吐出口組を構成する吐出口は、主走査方向に一列に配置されることに限定されず、主走査方向に対して傾斜する方向に配置されてもよい。
・液体吐出ヘッドにおける個別流路等の流路構成は、適宜に変更可能である。
・液体吐出装置に設けられる液体吐出ヘッドの数は、1以上の任意の数であってよい。
・液体吐出ヘッドは、インク以外の任意の液体を吐出してよい。
・液体吐出ヘッドは、ライン式に限定されず、シリアル式であってもよい。
・液体吐出装置は、プリンタに限定されず、ファクシミリやコピー機等であってもよい。
・記録媒体は、用紙に限定されず、記録可能な任意の媒体であってよい。

Claims (9)
- 2以上の吐出口からそれぞれなると共に前記2以上の吐出口から吐出される液滴によって1つの画素をそれぞれ形成する複数の吐出口組、複数の圧力室、前記吐出口組と前記圧力室とをそれぞれ繋ぐ複数の個別流路、及び、前記圧力室内の液体にエネルギーを付与して前記複数の吐出口組の前記吐出口から選択的に液滴を吐出させるエネルギー付与手段を含む、液体吐出ヘッドと、
前記エネルギー付与手段を制御する制御手段と、を備え、
記録媒体上に記録される画像の解像度に対応した単位距離だけ前記記録媒体が前記液体吐出ヘッドに対して移動するのに要する時間を1記録周期としたとき、前記制御手段は、前記1記録周期内に前記吐出口から吐出される液滴の吐出周期が互いに異なる複数の駆動信号を用いて前記エネルギー付与手段を制御し、1画素を形成することを特徴とする、液体吐出装置。 - 前記制御手段は、画像の縁部分以外の領域を形成するときに、前記複数の駆動信号を用いて前記エネルギー付与手段を制御することを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の液体吐出装置。
- 前記液体吐出ヘッドは、前記吐出口を先端にそれぞれ有する複数のノズル孔が貫通し、互いに隣接する2つの前記吐出口が前記吐出口組を構成する、ノズルプレートを含み、
前記制御手段は、p/D≦1.2(p:前記ノズルプレートの前記吐出口が開口した吐出面における、前記吐出口組を構成する前記2以上の吐出口の中心間距離 D:前記ノズルプレートの前記吐出面とは反対側の面における、前記吐出口組を構成する前記2以上の吐出口を先端にそれぞれ有する前記ノズル孔の開口の直径)の場合に、前記複数の駆動信号を用いて前記エネルギー付与手段を制御することを特徴とする、請求項1又は2に記載の液体吐出装置。 - 前記複数の駆動信号が、0.85Ta≦T≦0.9Ta又は1.2Ta≦Tの第1駆動信号、及び、0.9Ta<T<1.2Taの第2駆動信号(Ta:前記個別流路の共振周期 T:前記吐出周期)を含むことを特徴とする、請求項3に記載の液体吐出装置。
- 前記第2駆動信号は、0.9Ta<T≦0.98Taの第3駆動信号、及び、0.98Ta<T<1.2Taの第4駆動信号を含むことを特徴とする、請求項4に記載の液体吐出装置。
- p,Dが入力される入力手段と、
前記複数の駆動信号を記憶する記憶手段と、をさらに備え、
前記制御手段は、前記入力手段に入力されたp,Dに応じて、前記記憶手段に記憶された前記複数の駆動信号の中から1つを選択することを特徴とする、請求項3〜5のいずれか一項に記載の液体吐出装置。 - 前記制御手段は、前記吐出周期が互いに異なる3以上の前記駆動信号を用いて前記エネルギー付与手段を制御することを特徴とする、請求項1〜6のいずれか一項に記載の液体吐出装置。
- 前記制御手段は、1画素を構成する液滴の量毎に互いに異なる前記複数の駆動信号を用いて、前記エネルギー付与手段を制御することを特徴とする、請求項1〜7のいずれか一項に記載の液体吐出装置。
- 前記制御手段は、前記複数の駆動信号の中から1つをランダムに選択することを特徴とする、請求項1〜8のいずれか一項に記載の液体吐出装置。
