Description
(1) 電気光学効果を有する厚さ20μm以下の基板と、該基板を保持する補強基板と、該基板と該補強基板との間に配置された樹脂層を備え、該基板には、光導波路と、該光導波路を伝播する光波を制御する制御電極とが形成された光変調器において、該光導波路は、少なくとも2本の離間した光導波路を備え、前記2本の光導波路の間に配置される制御電極が、各光導波路に沿って配置される2本の電極と、前記2本の電極を同じ電位に導通する細線から構成されることを特徴とする。
図2に示すように、本発明の光変調器は、電気光学効果を有する厚さ20μm以下の基板4と、該基板4を保持する補強基板6と、該基板と該補強基板との間に配置された樹脂層5を備え、該基板4には、光導波路1,2と、該光導波路を伝播する光波を制御する制御電極3,31とが形成された光変調器において、該光導波路は、少なくとも2本の離間した光導波路1を備え、前記2本の光導波路の間に配置される制御電極31が、各光導波路に沿って配置される2本の電極31と、前記2本の電極を同じ電位に導通する細線8から構成されることを特徴とする。

Claims (2)
- 電気光学効果を有する厚さ20μm以下の基板と、
該基板を保持する補強基板と、
該基板と該補強基板との間に配置された樹脂層を備え、
該基板には、光導波路と、該光導波路を伝播する光波を制御する制御電極とが形成された光変調器において、
該光導波路は、少なくとも2本の離間した光導波路を備え、
前記2本の光導波路の間に配置される制御電極が、DCバイアス電圧を印加するための電極であり、かつ、各光導波路に沿って配置される2本の電極と、前記2本の電極を同じ電位に導通する細線から構成されると共に、前記2本の電極の各々の幅は、該基板の厚さの10倍以下であることを特徴とする光変調器。 - 請求項1に記載の光変調器において、該基板に形成された該光導波路は、ネスト型光導波路であり、前記2本の光導波路は、該ネスト型光導波路を構成する主マッハツェンダー型光導波路の2本の分岐導波路であることを特徴とする光変調器。
