Description
・水酸化カルシウムを炭酸塩化して炭酸カルシウムを生成し,次に顔料組成物を生成するために顔料粒子を含む水酸化カルシウム含有水性スラリーを二酸化炭素含有ガス中に噴霧し,
・顔料組成物中の炭酸カルシウムの割合が所定の重量百分率に対応するように水性スラリー中の水酸化カルシウムの量を選択することによって製造される。
・顔料及び結合剤並びに塗料で用いる通常の製造材料及び添加剤を含む塗料組成物
・顔料及び結合剤並びに被覆材料で用いる通常の製造材料及び添加剤を含む被覆材料組成物
・顔料並びに充填材組成物で用いる通常の製造材料及び添加剤を含む充填材組成物
・熱可塑性ポリマーを含み、顔料及び場合によりポリマー組成物で用いる通常の製造材料及び添加剤を混合してなるポリマー組成物
・液相中で混合した顔料、結合剤及び場合により着色顔料並びに印刷インキ組成物で用いる通常の製造材料及び添加剤を含む印刷インキ組成物である。
(顔料粒子組成物の製造)
試験に用いた原料
1.乾燥物質含有量が約17%,T=60℃であるCa(OH)2水性スラリー
2.約50%の乾燥物質に水簸され,T=20℃である市販の二酸化チタン
3.T=20℃のCO2含有ガス。
本発明に係る方法において,沈殿後30/70の二酸化チタン/PCC質量比を生成する目的で,必要量のCa(OH)2スラリー及び二酸化チタンスラリーを図6に示す一群の沈殿反応装置中に供給することにより顔料粒子組成物を調製した。過剰量の二酸化炭素含有ガスも沈殿反応装置中に供給した。二酸化チタン粒子を含む水酸化カルシウムチタン含有水性スラリーを高エネルギー混合ゾーンに導くことにより,該スラリーを二酸化炭素含有ガス内で小滴に破砕した。
本発明に係る方法において,二酸化チタンと炭酸カルシウムの質量比が18/82である顔料組成物を調製した。該組成物の乾燥物質含有量を60%へ増やし,分散剤を添加し,それによって非常に流動的な顔料スラリーを得た。本製品を用いて,二酸化チタンの重量あたり50部を等価量の本発明に係る顔料組成物(乾燥物当たりの乾燥物量で計算した)で置換した以外他の成分を変えずに,完全に無光沢で高度に充填した(PVC>70%)プライマーを調製した。

試験体 96.2%
例1の顔料組成物から遠心機を用いて水を除去し,分散剤を添加することで乾燥物質含有量60%の非常に流動的な顔料スラリーを得た。本製品を用いて,被覆ペーストの他の成分が影響されないように板紙に用いる二酸化チタンを置換した。参照ペーストは二酸化チタン4部及び炭酸カルシウム96部からなっていた。試験体1では二酸化チタンの半分を,試験体2では二酸化チタンの全部を本発明に係る顔料組成物によって置換した。かかるペーストを板紙上に12g/m2で塗布した。被覆層を溶解によって最終板紙から除去し,その後板紙の不透明度を測定した。下記の結果が得られた。

試験体2 78.6%
紙中で充填材として用いる二酸化チタンを,製紙中に用いる他の成分を変性することなく,本発明に係る顔料組成物によって置換した。第二参照として,充填材として二酸化チタンと偏三角形体市販PCCの混合物を本発明に係る製品における二酸化チタンと炭酸カルシウムの比率と同一,すなわち30/70の比率で使用することにより紙を調製した。かかる紙の目付は60g/m2,充填材の割合は10%であった。このようにして調製した紙シートの不透明度を計測し,下記の結果が得られた。

Claims (21)
- 炭酸カルシウム粒子及び顔料粒子を含む顔料粒子組成物であって、
前記炭酸カルシウム粒子の結晶形が、カルサイト又はアラゴナイトであり、
前記顔料粒子と前記炭酸カルシウム粒子の重量比が90:10〜5:95であり、
前記炭酸カルシウム粒子は、相互に結合して少なくとも一個の顔料粒子を含む炭酸カルシウム構造体を形成しており、該炭酸カルシウム構造体が前記顔料粒子とともに不透明で安定な顔料−炭酸カルシウム凝集体を形成し、該炭酸カルシウム構造体における炭酸カルシウム粒子が、前記少なくとも一個の顔料粒子を少なくとも部分的に包むシェルを形成し、
前記炭酸カルシウム粒子が非球形であり、前記顔料粒子を前記炭酸カルシウム粒子によって相互に分離してなり、顔料粒子間の距離が平均で少なくとも60nmである、ことを特徴とする顔料粒子組成物。 - 前記炭酸カルシウム粒子が多核炭酸カルシウム構造体を形成し、これに顔料粒子が結合することを特徴とする請求項1に記載の組成物。
- 前記炭酸カルシウム粒子で形成したシェルが、部分的に又は全体的に、1〜20個の顔料粒子を包むことを特徴とする請求項1又は2に記載の組成物。
- 前記顔料組成物が、他の成分として、分散剤、表面改質剤及び安定化剤もしくはそれらの混合物を含むことを特徴とする請求項1〜3のいずれか一項に記載の組成物。
- 前記顔料が光散乱及び/又は吸収顔料であるか、又は有機顔料材料であることを特徴とする請求項1〜4のいずれか一項に記載の組成物。
- 前記顔料粒子が酸化チタンであり、一部又は全部の二酸化チタンを炭酸カルシウムによって置換する用途では、10:90〜30:70の二酸化チタンと炭酸カルシウムの重量比率で組成物を用いることにより達成し得る不透明度が、100%二酸化チタンのものに少なくとも近いものであり、前記顔料粒子として用いる二酸化チタンの結晶形が、ルチル又はアナターゼであることを特徴とする請求項1〜5のいずれか一項に記載の組成物。
- 上記炭酸カルシウム構造体によって形成したシェルの厚さが平均で少なくとも30nmであることを特徴とする請求項1〜6のいずれか一項に記載の組成物。
- 顔料粒子を含む水酸化カルシウム含有水性スラリーを二酸化炭素含有ガス中に噴霧し、水酸化カルシウムを炭酸塩化して炭酸カルシウムを生成し、次に炭酸カルシウムを含む顔料組成物を生成し、かつ
顔料組成物中の炭酸カルシウムの割合が所定の重量百分率と等価であるように、前記水性スラリー中の水酸化カルシウムの量を選択し、
水酸化カルシウム含有水性スラリーを二酸化炭素ガス内に噴霧し炭酸塩化して発生した水性スラリーを回収し、更なる炭酸塩化工程に導き、前記水性スラリーを二酸化炭素ガス内にもう一回噴霧するか又は前記スラリーに二酸化炭素ガスをバブリングすることによって前記スラリーを更に炭酸塩化して、全ての水酸化カルシウムが炭酸カルシウムに転換するまで炭酸塩化を継続する
ことを特徴とする前記顔料粒子を前記炭酸カルシウム粒子と組合わせることによる請求項1〜7のいずれか一項に記載の組成物の製造方法。 - 過剰量の二酸化炭素中で行い、顔料スラリーのpH値が中性になるまで、別個の酸を添加することなく炭酸塩化を継続することを特徴とする請求項8に記載の方法。
- 炭酸塩化を数段階で実施し、前記水酸化カルシウム含有水性スラリーの二酸化炭素ガス中への噴霧の結果で、かつまた炭酸塩化の結果である水性スラリーを回収し、更なる炭酸塩化に導き、前記水性スラリーを二酸化炭素ガス内にもう一回噴霧するか又は前記スラリーに二酸化炭素ガスをバブリングすることによって前記スラリーを更に炭酸塩化することを特徴とする請求項8又は9に記載の方法。
- 水性スラリーを少なくとも一回、二酸化炭素ガス内に滴下するように連続的に炭酸塩化を実施することを特徴とする請求項8〜10のいずれか一項に記載の方法。
- 前記水酸化カルシウム含有水性スラリーの少なくとも全てを顔料粒子と共に炭酸塩化工程において添加することを特徴とする請求項8〜11のいずれか一項に記載の方法。
- 前記顔料粒子を含む水酸化カルシウム含有水性スラリーを高エネルギー混合ゾーンに導き、ここで前記スラリーを滴状、さらに霧滴状に破砕し、その後二酸化炭素含有ガス内に滴下することを特徴とする請求項8〜12のいずれか一項に記載の方法。
- 前記顔料粒子の水酸化カルシウム含有水性スラリーが少なくとも繊維を含まないことを特徴とする請求項8〜13のいずれか一項に記載の方法。
- 顔料と、結合剤と、塗料に用いる製造材料及び添加剤とを含む塗料組成物であって、顔料の少なくとも1重量%が請求項1〜7のいずれか一項に記載の組成物からなることを特徴とする、塗料組成物。
- 顔料と、結合剤と、被覆材料に用いる製造材料及び添加剤とを含む被覆材料組成物であって、顔料の少なくとも1重量%が請求項1〜7のいずれか一項に記載の組成物からなることを特徴とする、被覆材料組成物。
- 顔料と、充填組成物に用いる製造材料及び添加剤とを含む充填材組成物であって、顔料の少なくとも1重量%が請求項1〜7のいずれか一項に記載の組成物からなることを特徴とする、充填材組成物。
- 顔料に混合した熱可塑性ポリマーと、場合によりポリマー組成物に用いる製造材料及び添加剤とを含むポリマー組成物であって、顔料の少なくとも1重量%が請求項1〜7のいずれか一項に記載の組成物からなることを特徴とする、ポリマー組成物。
- 液相で混合した顔料と、結合剤と、場合により印刷インキ組成物に用いる着色顔料及び他の製造材料及び添加剤とを含む印刷インキ組成物であって、顔料の少なくとも1重量%が請求項1〜7のいずれか一項に記載の組成物からなることを特徴とする、印刷インキ組成物。
- 顔料の5重量%以上が、請求項1〜7のいずれか一項に記載の組成物を含み、該組成物中の顔料粒子が二酸化チタンであることを特徴とする請求項15〜19のいずれか一項に記載の組成物。
- 塗料、紙又は板紙中の被覆材料組成物、紙又は板紙中の充填材組成物、プラスチック又は印刷インキにおける顔料としての請求項1〜7のいずれか一項に記載の組成物の使用であり、前記顔料粒子が二酸化チタンであることを特徴とする使用。
