Abstract
Una composición de partícula de pigmento, la cual comprende partículas de carbonato de calcio y partículas de pigmento, su método de fabricación y su uso. De acuerdo con la presente invención, las partículas de carbonato de calcio son carbonatadas de manera que se unen unas a otras, en cuyo caso las estructuras de carbonato de calcio son generadas, las cuales comprenden partículas de pigmento y las cuales forman agregados de pigmento-carbonato de calcio esencialmente opacos y estables. Es posible fabricar la composición al atomizar pasta de pigmento portadora de hidróxido de calcio en un gas portador de dióxido de carbono, en cuyo caso el hidróxido de calcio es carbonatado con el fin de precipitar las partículas de hidróxido de calcio para unirse unas a otras y la carbonatación es continuada hasta que esencialmente todo el hidróxido de calcio ha sido convertido en carbonato de calcio. La composición es adecuada para usarse, entre otras cosas, en pinturas, materiales de recubrimiento, rellenos, polímeros y tintas para impresión.
