に基づくサイズ比により表される粒度分布を有する。式中、D85は、マイクロメートル(m)での平均粒径であって、分布曲線によれば無機顔料の粒子の約85%がこの値より粒径が小さいことを表し、D15は、平均粒径であって、無機顔料の粒子の約15%がこの値よりも粒径が小さいことを表す。例えば、粒度分布(I)のインデックスは、約1〜約10の範囲であってよい。別の例では、粒度分布のインデックスは、約1〜約9、約1〜約8、又は約1〜約7、又は約1〜約6、又は約1〜約5、又は約1〜約4、又は約1.5〜約4の範囲であってよい。
以下に、本明細書で使用する用語及び表現の定義を示すが、これらの用語及び表現は、本明細書では別の定義はされない。
Claims (15)
- 表面サイジング組成物であって、
水性混合物を含み、当該水性混合物が、エチル化澱粉、アニオン性澱粉及びカチオン性澱粉から選択される25%〜75%乾燥重量の量の高分子材料;9%〜20%乾燥重量の量の無機金属塩;及び少なくとも16%〜60%乾燥重量の量の無機顔料を含み、全乾燥重量が100%に等しく、前記水性混合物が、サイズプレス(SP)表面サイジング組成物である、表面サイジング組成物。 - 前記高分子材料の量が30重量%〜55重量%であり、前記無機金属塩の量が9重量%〜20重量%であり、前記無機顔料の量が25重量%〜50重量%である、請求項1に記載の表面サイジング組成物。
- 前記高分子材料の量が40重量%〜45重量%であり、前記無機金属塩の量が9%重量〜19重量%であり、前記無機顔料の量が40重量%〜50重量%である、請求項1に記載の表面サイジング組成物。
- 前記高分子材料の量が、前記無機顔料の量に実質的に等しく、前記無機金属塩の量が9重量%〜18.5重量%である、請求項1に記載の表面サイジング組成物。
- 前記高分子材料の量が、前記無機顔料の量より小さく、前記無機金属塩の量が9重量%〜19重量%である、請求項1に記載の表面サイジング組成物。
- 前記無機顔料が複数の顔料充填材を含み、第1の顔料充填材が炭酸カルシウムであり、第2の顔料充填材が、異なる炭酸カルシウム及びクレーの1つであり、前記第1の顔料充填材と前記第2の顔料充填材との比が、3:1〜20:1である、請求項1に記載の表面サイジング組成物。
- 前記無機顔料が、1〜10の粒度分布のインデックスを有し、0.1ミクロン〜3ミクロンの平均粒径を有する、請求項1に記載の表面サイジング組成物。
- 前記水性混合物が、12%〜22%乾燥重量の固体含有量、8〜11のpH、及び10センチポイズ(cP)〜200cPの粘性を有する、請求項1に記載の表面サイジング組成物。
- 前記無機金属塩が、元素の標準周期表の2族又は3族の金属のハロゲン化物から選択され、前記無機顔料が、クレー、炭酸カルシウム及びアルミニウムシリケートクレーの1つ以上から選択される、請求項1に記載の表面サイジング組成物。
- 前記請求項1に記載の表面サイジング組成物を製造する方法(300)であって、当該方法が、
前記高分子材料、前記量の無機顔料、及び水を配合し(310)、水性の配合物を形成し、
前記水性の配合物を第1の周期時間にわたり混合し(320)、
前記第1の周期時間の後、前記量の無機金属塩を前記水性の配合物に添加し(330)、混合物を形成し、
前記混合物を第2の周期時間にわたり混合し(340)、7〜12のpH、10%〜25%のターゲット固体含有量、及び10センチポイズ(cP)〜200cPの粘性の1つ以上を有する前記表面サイジング組成物を形成することを含む、方法。 - デジタルダイレクト印刷のための印刷媒体(100)であって、前記印刷媒体(100)が、セルロースベース紙(110)及び当該セルロースベース紙上のサイズプレス(SP)表面サイジング(120)を含み、前記SP表面サイジング(120)が、
エチル化澱粉、アニオン性澱粉及びカチオン性澱粉から選択される高分子材料、
実質的に前記高分子材料の量以上の量の無機顔料、及び
9%〜20%乾燥重量の量の無機金属塩を含み、全乾燥重量が100%に等しく、
前記印刷媒体(100)中の前記SP表面サイジング(120)の重量が、片側につき1平方メートル当たり1.5グラム(gsm)〜3gsmである、印刷媒体。 - 前記セルロースベース紙(110)が、広葉樹木材パルプ、並びに内部充填材及び内部サイジングの一方又は両方を有し、当該セルロースベース紙(110)が、20秒より小さいハーキュリーズサイジング試験(HST)値を有する、請求項11に記載のデジタルダイレクト印刷のための前記印刷媒体(100)。
- 製紙時に製紙装置のオンラインサイズプレスを使用して、前記SP表面サイジングをセルロースベース紙に加え(410)、
前記SP表面サイズ処理された紙を、前記製紙装置の乾燥部において乾燥する(420)
ことを含む、請求項11に記載の前記印刷媒体(100)を製造する方法(400)。 - デジタル印刷システム(200)であって、
画像形成材料を堆積させるためのデジタルプリンタ(210)、及び
前記画像形成材料を前記デジタルプリンタ(210)から直接的に受容するための印刷媒体(220)、(100)であって、セルロースベース紙(110)上のサイズプレス(SP)表面サイジング(120)を含み、当該SP表面サイジングが、
エチル化澱粉、アニオン性澱粉及びカチオン性澱粉から選択される25%〜75%乾燥重量の量の高分子材料、
9%〜20%乾燥重量の量の無機金属塩、及び
少なくとも16%〜60%乾燥重量の量の無機顔料を含み、全乾燥重量が100%に等しく、
前記印刷媒体(220)、(100)における前記SP表面サイジング(120)の重量が、セルロースベース紙の片側につき1平方メートル当たり1.5グラム(gsm)〜3gsmである、デジタル印刷システム(200)。 - 前記デジタルプリンタ(210)が、インクジェットプリンタ又はレーザプリンタである、請求項14に記載のデジタル印刷システム(200)。
