Claims (4)
- 電解質膜の両側に一対の電極が設けられる電解質膜・電極構造体とセパレータとが水平方向に沿って積層されるとともに、前記電極の反応面が重力方向に沿った鉛直姿勢で且つ水平方向に長尺な横長形状を有し、酸化剤ガス又は燃料ガスである反応ガスを前記反応面の長手方向に沿って流通させる反応ガス流路が、前記セパレータと前記電解質膜・電極構造体との間に設けられる燃料電池であって、
前記セパレータには、前記反応面の重力方向下方にあって前記電解質膜・電極構造体と前記セパレータとの間に位置し、前記反応ガス流路から生成水を排出するための排水溝が設けられる一方、
前記電解質膜・電極構造体は、前記電極の外周を周回する額縁状の樹脂枠である枠部材を備え、
前記枠部材の内周側である前記電極側の端部は、前記反応ガス流路の下端部と前記排水溝との連結部位に対向して配置されるとともに、
前記セパレータには、前記連結部位を切り欠いて前記反応ガス流路と前記排水溝とを連通させる連通溝が形成されることを特徴とする燃料電池。 - 請求項1記載の燃料電池において、一方の前記セパレータと前記電解質膜・電極構造体の一方の面との間には、前記酸化剤ガスを前記反応面の長手方向に沿って流通させる前記反応ガス流路である酸化剤ガス流路と、
前記酸化剤ガス流路の重力方向下方に位置し、前記酸化剤ガス流路から生成水を排出するための一方の前記排水溝と、
が形成されるとともに、
他方の前記セパレータと前記電解質膜・電極構造体の他方の面との間には、前記燃料ガスを前記反応面の長手方向に沿って流通させる前記反応ガス流路である燃料ガス流路と、
前記燃料ガス流路の重力方向下方に位置し、前記燃料ガス流路から生成水を排出するための他方の前記排水溝と、
が形成されることを特徴とする燃料電池。 - 請求項1又は2記載の燃料電池において、前記反応ガス流路の出口側に連通し、前記電解質膜・電極構造体と前記セパレータとの積層方向に貫通する反応ガス出口連通孔を備えるとともに、
前記排水溝と前記反応ガス出口連通孔とを連結する排水路が設けられることを特徴とする燃料電池。 - 請求項1又は2記載の燃料電池において、前記反応ガス流路の出口側に連通し、前記電解質膜・電極構造体と前記セパレータとの積層方向に貫通する反応ガス出口連通孔を備えるとともに、
前記反応ガス出口連通孔の下方に隣接し、前記積層方向に貫通して前記排水溝に連結される排水連通孔が設けられることを特徴とする燃料電池。
