Claims (5)
- 複数の発光ブロックからなる光源モジュール及び複数の画素を含む表示パネルを備える表示装置に提供される画素データの補正方法において、
前記画素データを前記複数の発光ブロックに応じて複数の画像ブロックに分け、
前記画像ブロックに含まれる画素データのヒストグラムを利用して前記画像ブロックの代表階調を算出し、
前記画像ブロックの代表階調に基づいて前記発光ブロックのディミングレベルを決定し、
前記発光ブロックのディミングレベルに基づいて前記表示パネルに提供される光の輝度分布を判断し、前記光の輝度分布を利用して各画素に提供される光の輝度である画素輝度を決定し、
前記複数の発光ブロックのうちの1つの発光ブロックが単独で発光することのできる最大輝度である発光最大輝度と前記画素輝度との関係式で定義される補正係数を用いて前記画素データを補正する補正データを生成し、
前記補正データに基づいて前記画素を透過する光の透過率を調整して同一階調の画素データを実質的に同一の輝度で前記表示パネルに表示することを含み、
前記画素輝度が前記発光最大輝度と同じ場合は、前記補正係数は1であり、
前記画素輝度が、前記光源モジュールのすべての発光ブロックをフルホワイトで駆動する場合の輝度である最大ホワイト輝度と同じ場合は、前記補正係数は1より小さい数であることを特徴とする画素データの補正方法。 - 前記補正データを生成することは、
前記画素輝度が前記発光最大輝度より大きい場合に、前記画素データより低階調の補正データを生成することであることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の画素データの補正方法。 - 前記補正データを生成することは、
前記画素輝度が前記発光最大輝度より小さい場合に、前記画素データより高階調の補正データを生成することであることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の画素データの補正方法。 - 前記補正データを生成することは、
前記画素輝度が前記発光最大輝度と同一である場合に、前記画素データと同一階調の補正データを生成することであることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の画素データの補正方法。 - 画素を含む表示パネルと、
複数の発光ブロックからなり、前記表示パネルに光を提供する光源モジュールと、
前記画素に提供される光の輝度である画素輝度が、前記複数の発光ブロックのうちの1つの発光ブロックが単独で発光することのできる最大輝度である発光最大輝度より大きくなる場合に、前記画素に対応する画素データを低階調に補正するローカルディミング駆動部と、を含み、
前記ローカルディミング駆動部は、
前記画素データを前記複数の発光ブロックに応じて複数の画像ブロックに分け、前記画像ブロックに含まれる画素データのヒストグラムを利用して前記画像ブロックの代表階調を算出し、前記画像ブロックの代表階調に基づいて前記発光ブロックのディミングレベルを決定するディミングレベル決定部と、
前記発光ブロックのディミングレベルに基づいて前記表示パネルに提供される光の輝度分布を判断し、前記光の輝度分布を利用して各画素に提供される光の輝度である画素輝度を決定する画素輝度決定部と、
前記画素輝度と前記発光最大輝度との関係式で定義される補正係数を用いて補正データを生成する補正部と、
前記補正データに基づいて前記画素を透過する光の透過率を調整して同一階調の画素データを実質的に同一の輝度で前記表示パネルに表示するパネル駆動部と、を含み、
前記画素輝度が前記発光最大輝度と同じ場合は、前記補正係数は1であり、
前記画素輝度が、前記光源モジュールのすべての発光ブロックをフルホワイトで駆動する場合の輝度である最大ホワイト輝度と同じ場合は、前記補正係数は1より小さい数であることを特徴とする表示装置。
