時空符号(STC)は、1998年にAT&T研究所のTarokhらによって、マルチアンテナ・フェーディング・チャネルの伝送ダイバシティを提供する新規な手段として初めて紹介されたものである(V. Tarokh、N. Seshadri、およびA. R. Calderbankの「Space−time codes for high data rates wireless communications:Performance criterion and code construction」IEEE Trans. Inform. Theory、vol. 44(1998年)、744〜765頁)。2つの主なタイプのSTCは、時空ブロック符号(STBC)と、時空トレリス符号(STTC)である。時空ブロック符号は、入力シンボル・ブロックに作用するものであり、列が時間を表し行がアンテナを表す行列出力を生成する。時空ブロック符号は一般に、外部コードと連結されない限り符号化利得をもたらさない。時空ブロック符号の主な特徴は、非常に単純な復号化スキームを用いてフル・ダイバシティが提供されることである。一方、時空トレリス符号は、一時に1つの入力シンボルに作用するものであり、それ自体の長さがアンテナを表す一続きのベクトル記号を生成する。時空トレリス符号は、単一アンテナ・チャネル向けの従来のTCM(トレリス符号化変調)と同様の符号化利得をもたらす。それらがフル・ダイバシティ利得をもたらすことから、時空ブロック符号よりも優れた時空トレリス符号の利点は、符号化利得が提供されることである。時空トレリス符号の欠点は、それらの設計が困難であり、一般に複雑性の高いエンコーダおよびデコーダが必要となることである。
Claims (47)
- 複数の基地局のアンテナ素子を利用して、無線ネットワークにおける協調的複数入出力(MIMO)伝送をサポートするステップと、
第1の設備に配置されたマスタ・エンコーダによりアンテナ駆動信号を生成するステップと、
前記アンテナ駆動信号の各部分を前記複数の基地局のそれぞれに送信するステップと、
前記複数の基地局のそれぞれにおいて選択されたアンテナ素子を駆動することにより、前記アンテナ駆動信号の各部分が前記複数の基地局に送信されるようになる、協調的MIMO伝送を実施するステップと、
を含む方法。 - 前記協調的MIMO伝送は、直交周波数分割多元接続(OFDMA)MIMO伝送を含む、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 時空符号化を使用して前記協調的MIMO伝送を符号化するステップをさらに含む請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記時空符号化は、時空トレリス符号化を含む、請求項3に記載の方法。
- 前記時空符号化は、時空ブロック符号化を含む、請求項3に記載の方法。
- 前記時空符号化は遅延ダイバシティを有する請求項3に記載の方法。

- 協調的MIMO伝送を同時に少なくとも2つの端末に送信するステップをさらに含む請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記協調的MIMO伝送が宛先ユーザに誘導される一方で、非宛先ユーザに対しては空間ヌル化が有効になるような前記協調的MIMO伝送の空間ビーム形成を実施するステップをさらに含む請求項1に記載の方法。
- 複数の端末から受信されたアップリンク協調的MIMO伝送を連結的に復号化するステップをさらに含む請求項1に記載の方法。
- 複数の端末において受信されたダウンリンク協調的MIMO伝送を連結的に復号化するステップをさらに含む請求項1に記載の方法。
- 複数の端末から受信されたアップリンク協調的MIMO伝送を個別的に復号化するステップをさらに含む請求項1に記載の方法。
- 複数の端末に送信されるダウンリンク協調的MIMO伝送を連結的に符号化するステップをさらに含む請求項1に記載の方法。
- 連結的に符号化された前記ダウンリンク協調的MIMO伝送を端末側で復号化するステップと、
連結的に符号化された前記ダウンリンク協調的MIMO伝送を介して送信された前記端末宛てのデータ部分については保持し、前記端末宛てではない他のデータ部分については破棄するステップとをさらに含む請求項18に記載の方法。 - 連結的に符号化された前記ダウンリンク協調的MIMO伝送を前記複数の各端末側で個別的に復号化するステップをさらに含む請求項18に記載の方法。
- 前記第1の設備は、前記複数の基地局のうちの1つと同じ場所に配置される、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記複数の基地局に送信される前記アンテナ駆動信号の各部分の伝送を同期させるステップをさらに含む請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記協調的MIMO伝送を実施して無線ネットワークのセルまたはセクター間の端末ハンドオフを円滑にするステップをさらに含む請求項1に記載の方法。
- 複数の基地局のアンテナ素子を利用して、無線ネットワークにおける協調的複数入出力(MIMO)伝送をサポートするステップと、
対応する協調的MIMOチャネルを介して伝送されるデータ・ストリームのMIMO符号化を実施して、前記複数の基地局の各基地局で実施されるアンテナ信号処理の対象となる各符号化データ・シーケンス・セットを生成するステップと、
前記符号化データ・シーケンス・セットのそれぞれを対応する基地局に送信するステップと、
前記複数の基地局のそれぞれにおいて、当該複数の基地局のそれぞれによって受信された前記符号化データ・シーケンス・セットのそれぞれを考慮に入れたアンテナ信号処理操作を実施して、アンテナ信号を生成するステップと、
前記データ・ストリームが前記協調的MIMOチャネルを介して伝送されるように、前記アンテナ信号を前記複数の基地局のそれぞれの前記アンテナ素子を介して伝送するステップと、
を含む方法。 - 前記アンテナ信号が前記複数の基地局の様々な基地局において選択された前記アンテナ素子を介して同期的に伝送されるように、前記複数の基地局における前記アンテナ信号処理操作の実施を同期させるステップをさらに含む請求項24に記載の方法。
- マルチセル無線ネットワークであって、
それぞれが、それぞれのセルと関連付けられ、少なくとも1つのアンテナ素子を含む各アンテナ・アレイを有する複数の基地局と、
前記複数の基地局の選択されたアンテナ素子を利用して、前記マルチセル無線ネットワークを介した協調的MIMO伝送をサポートするのに使用される拡張型アンテナ・アレイを形成するように構成された協調的複数入出力(MIMO)伝送機構と、
アンテナ駆動信号を生成し、前記アンテナ駆動信号の各部分を前記複数の基地局のそれぞれに送信する、ように構成された協調的MIMOマスタ・エンコーダと、
を備え、
前記複数の基地局のそれぞれにおいて選択された前記アンテナ素子を駆動することにより、前記アンテナ駆動信号の各部分が前記複数の基地局のそれぞれに送信されるようになる、前記協調的MIMO伝送が実施される、

前記複数の基地局のそれぞれにおいて受信された前記符号化データ・シーケンス・セットのそれぞれに対するアンテナ信号処理操作を実施してアンテナ信号を生成するように構成された1組のアンテナ信号処理コンポーネント

前記アンテナ信号は、対応する前記協調的MIMOチャネルを介した協調的MIMO伝送が形成されるように前記複数の基地局のそれぞれにおいて選択された前記アンテナ素子を介して伝送される、
マルチセル無線ネットワーク。 - 前記アンテナ信号が前記複数の基地局の様々な基地局において選択された前記アンテナ素子を介して同期的に伝送されるように、前記前記複数の基地局における前記アンテナ信号処理操作を同期させるように構成された同期機構をさらに備える請求項45に記載のマルチセル無線ネットワーク。
- 前記協調的複数入出力(MIMO)伝送機構は、無線ネットワークのセルまたはセクター間の端末ハンドオフを円滑する前記協調的MIMO伝送を実施する、請求項26に記載のマルチセル無線ネットワーク。
