Description
顕微鏡写真に示す光学的微細構造203では、形状が滑らかに変化しており、サイズ及び配置が不規則である。描写した微細構造203の形状、サイズ及び配置は、制御されたレーザ・スペックルと同様にランダムであってよい。米国特許第5,365,354号では、形状、サイズ、及び配置並びにそのようなスペックルの特性を制御するための方法について議論されており、本明細書に全て記載するが如く、引用・参照する。光学的微細構造は、本開示の詳細な例が光整形拡散体構造を用いる多くのタイプのものであってよい。以下の詳細な代表的実施形態は、特定の光整形拡散体微細構造、特定の光整形拡散体微細構造(40乃至60ミクロンの平均特徴ピッチ、10乃至15ミクロンの特徴高さ、及び20乃至30ミクロンの平均特徴長さ/幅)に基づくが、本開示の微細構造のものとは異なる利点を有する他の微細構造も存在する。
物理蒸着法(PVD)の場合、Si02又は他の透明保護被膜の厚さは、成膜速度によって制御し得る。透明保護被膜の厚さを増大又は減少させることによって、映画館の映写機から生じる反射光の角度は、投影システムの輝度、視角、及び特定の波長又は設計に対するエンドユーザの特定の要件に応じて、光子保存を最大にするために、調整し、同調させ、最適化し得る。本開示の光整形スクリーンは、その微細構造設計(1つ又は複数)によって視角を制御するその能力に加えて、アルミニウム等で金属化した層の上の透明被膜の厚さを変更することによって、視角に対する制御を追加し得る。極めて薄い金属層(約25オングストローム)だけが、「硬質膜」傷及び磨耗保護のために必要である。追加の厚さを付加すると、根底にある反射LSD微細構造によって基部角度が設定された後、視角を微調整する能力が備えられる。
ステップ1乃至8(上記)は、繰り返され、これによって、スクリーンが所望の水平の幅(例えば、40乃至80フィート)に達するまで、ストリップを追加する。最終ストリップ(奇数か偶数に関わりなく)は、その右側端部レーザ切断部を有さないことに留意されたい。
スクリーンの枠組み立ては、継ぎ合わせたスクリーン材料シート(矩形スクリーンの場合、4つ)の端部の周囲に、3インチのポリマ膜の縁飾りを配置して、未完成の組み立てスクリーン材料の両側に貼り合わせることによって達成できる。その後、グロメットは、縁飾りの周辺部の周りに数インチ離して配置し、業界の標準的な技法により、スクリーンを吊り下げることができる。枠組み立ては、用いられる場合、そのような配置に限定されない。「ジップロック」式オメガ溝型材も、グロメットの代わりに、スクリーンの縁飾り領域及びスクリーンの枠上で用いて、スクリーンを使用のための平坦条件に維持できる。

複数のスクリーン部位であって、各部位は、複数の光学微細構造を有する視聴側と、該視聴側と全体的に平行な裏面側と、前記視聴側と前記裏面側との間において前記視聴側および前記裏面側に対して横方向に位置付けされた継ぎ目端部と、前記裏面側において各継ぎ目端部に平行に配置された梁とを有し、前記梁は、前記スクリーン部位の裏面側に対して全体的に横方向に配置された表面と、隣のスクリーン部位に形成された空洞形成部分と協働して空洞部分を画定するように形成された空洞形成部分とを有する、前記複数のスクリーン部位と、
互いに隣接し、且つ平行に位置付けされた一対の梁の横方向の表面と係合するように形成された末端部分、および前記一対の梁を互いに気密状態で係合する構成に近づくほど狭くなる主要部分を有する溝型材とを備える、キット。 - 投影スクリーンであって、
複数の隣接投影スクリーン部位であって、各投影スクリーン部位は、複数の光学微細構造を有する視聴側と、裏面側と、前記視聴側と前記裏面側との間において前記視聴側および前記裏面側に対して横方向に位置付けされた継ぎ目端部とを有し、一対の前記スクリーン部位は、特定の幅を有する継ぎ目だけ互いに離間する複数のスクリーンの継ぎ目端部において互いに隣接する、前記複数の隣接投影スクリーン部位と、
前記複数のスクリーン部位間の継ぎ目において前記一対のスクリーン部位の裏面間をブリッジし、前記継ぎ目の幅を維持するコネクタであって、各コネクタは、互いに複数の継ぎ目部位を固着する樹脂を空洞に含むように協働する一対の梁部位を備える、前記コネクタとを備える、投影スクリーン。
