Description
モールド40の下側に収容されるバックライトは、光源である発光ダイオード50と各種光学部品から形成されている。モールド40の内壁には凹部が形成され、この凹部は、発光ダイオード50を収納するための、発光ダイオード収納部41となっている。発光ダイオード50は図1に示すような枠状のフレキシブル配線基板51に配置されている。そして、フレキシブル配線基板51の端子部511はモールド40の外側に延在して外部回路と接続する。
図6のように、導光板30の4辺に発光ダイオード50を配置した構成においては、表示領域中央部の明るさは周辺領域の明るさの10%以下となるので、表示領域中央における、サブ画素のピッチとサブ画素の幅によって規定される液晶表示パネルの透過率は表示領域周辺におけるサブ画素の透過率よりも10%以上大きいことが望ましい。以下は表示領域中央における透過率を表示領域周辺における透過率よりも10%以上大きくする場合の種々の形態である。
図14は本実施例における導光板30の裏面方向から見た斜視図である。図14において、導光板30の裏面305は内側に凸の形状となっている。包絡線306はこの状態を示す。また、導光板30の裏面305は微視的に見ると角度が階段的に変化する特殊な面となっている。包絡線306は角度が階段的に変化する部分を結んだ曲線となっている。
図15において、導光板30の両側面に発光ダイオード50が配置されている。導光板30の裏面は平面302と斜面301が交互に形成されている。斜面301の角度θは周辺から中央部付近にかけて除々に大きくなっている。しかし、角度θは45度を上回ることは無い。
Claims (5)
- 液晶表示パネルとバックライトと、前記液晶表示パネルと前記バックライトを収容する収容部材を備えた液晶表示装置であって、
前記バックライトは導光板を備え、前記導光板の4辺の側部の各々に複数の発光ダイオードを配置しており、
前記各辺の中央部における前記発光ダイオードの間隔は、前記各辺のコーナー部付近における前記発光ダイオードの間隔の80%以下であり、
前記導光板は前記収容部材に収容されており、前記収容部材の内側の各辺には、発光ダイオードを収容するための複数の発光ダイオード収納部が形成されており、
前記導光板の裏面は、内側に凸の形状であり、前記導光板の裏面には、平面と斜面が交互に形成され、前記斜面と前記平面の角度は45度よりも小さいことを特徴とする液晶表示装置。 - 前記発光ダイオードは枠状のフレキシブル配線基板に配置されており、前記フレキシブル配線基板の各辺に複数配置されていることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記フレキシブル配線基板の基材の熱膨張係数は、前記導光板の熱膨張係数よりも小さいことを特徴とする請求項2に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 動作時における前記収容部材の前記発光ダイオード収納部の温度上昇をTとした場合、前記導光板と前記収容部材の間隔は、長径において、7×10 −6 T×(導光板の長径)以上であり、短径において、7×10 −6 T×(導光板の短径)以上であることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記斜面と前記平面の角度は45度よりも小さく、かつ導光板の周辺から中央に向かうに従って大きくなることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。
