Description
第1実施形態に係る電気泳動表示装置について、図1から図8を参照して説明する。
第2実施形態に係るアクティブマトリクス基板について、図11を参照して説明する。
次に、上述した電気泳動表示装置を適用した電子機器について、図12及び図13を参照して説明する。以下では、上述した電気泳動表示装置を電子ペーパー及び電子ノートに適用した場合を例にとる。
Claims (9)
- 基板上に設けられた第1の絶縁膜と、
複数の画素と、
前記複数の画素にわたって前記第1の絶縁膜に設けられた第1の凹部と、
前記第1の凹部の底面に設けられた第2の凹部と、
前記第2の凹部に設けられた有機半導体層と、該有機半導体層の上に設けられたゲート絶縁膜と、該ゲート絶縁膜の上に設けられたゲート電極と、を含み、前記複数の画素のうち一の画素に対応づけられた薄膜トランジスタと、
前記ゲート絶縁膜の上層であって、前記複数の画素にわたって前記第1の凹部に設けられた走査線と、
前記薄膜トランジスタと電気的に接続されたデータ線と、
を備えることを特徴とする電気光学装置用基板。 - 前記第1の凹部を埋めるように、前記走査線の上に設けられた第2の絶縁膜を更に備えることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の電気光学装置用基板。
- 前記第1の絶縁膜は、前記第2の凹部を備えた第2の絶縁層と、該第2の絶縁層の上に設けられた第1の絶縁層とからなることを特徴とする請求項1又は2に記載の電気光学装置用基板。
- 前記第2の凹部の底面は、前記有機半導体層の形成材料に対して親液性を有し、前記第1の凹部のうち前記第2の凹部が設けられていない領域は、前記形成材料に対して撥液性を有することを特徴とする請求項1ないし3のいずれか一項に記載の電気光学装置用基板。
- 基板上に設けられた第1の絶縁膜と、複数の画素と、該複数の画素のうち一の画素に対応づけられた薄膜トランジスタと、を備える電気光学装置用基板の製造方法であって、
前記複数の画素にわたり、かつその底面に前記一の画素に対応づけられた第2の凹部を有する第1の凹部を備えるように、前記第1の絶縁膜を形成する工程と、
印刷法によって前記第2の凹部に有機半導体層を形成する工程と、
前記有機半導体層の上にゲート絶縁膜を形成する工程と、
前記第1の凹部内の前記ゲート絶縁膜の上に、前記複数の画素にわたるように走査線を形成する工程と、
前記第1の絶縁膜の上層に、前記一の画素に対応づけられた画素電極を形成する工程と、
を備えることを特徴とする電気光学装置用基板の製造方法。 - 前記第1の絶縁膜を形成する工程において、前記第1の絶縁膜に前記第1の凹部および前記第2の凹部を形成するのと同時に、前記画素電極と前記有機半導体層とを互いに電気的に接続するためのコンタクトホールを前記第1の絶縁膜に形成することを特徴とする請求項5に記載の電気光学装置用基板の製造方法。
- 前記第1の絶縁膜を形成する工程において、ハーフトーンマスクを用いて前記第1の絶縁膜に前記第1の凹部および前記第2の凹部を形成することを特徴とする請求項5又は6に記載の電気光学装置用基板の製造方法。
- 請求項1から4のいずれか一項に記載の電気光学装置用基板を備えることを特徴とする電気光学装置。
- 請求項8に記載の電気光学装置を備えることを特徴とする電子機器。
