Description
反応帯域にて炭素と酸素含有ガスとからなる混合物を炭化水素の酸化を支持しうる触媒の存在下に部分酸化させ、前記部分酸化に先立ち炭化水素と酸素含有ガスとからなる前記混合物を熱交換器に通過させることを特徴とする。
典型的には、3重量%の白金と1重量%の銅との公称充填量を含む白金/銅触媒を99.5%アルミナフォーム(1インチ当たりの気孔度45ポア)(デスビウス・ハイテク・セラミックス・インコーポレイテッド社)に支持して、熱交換器(深さ60mmおよび容積1008cm3)の断面積に適合する寸法の触媒床を与えた。次いで支持触媒を固定床反応器に充填した。アルミナ熱シールドを触媒の上方に位置せしめた。触媒を窒素下で200℃まで加熱した。窒素の流動を触媒の直下に維持して、反応が触媒上で確立されるまで非燃性雰囲気を確保した。
この実施例においては、エタンと酸素と水素とを上記の一般的反応における供給物として用いた。反応体混合物をこの混合物の自己着火温度より低い温度まで予熱した。結果を下表1に示す。
この実施例におけるデータは、実施例1におけるデータの熱化学分析により得られた。反応体混合物の予熱温度は、その自己着火温度より高い温度に設定された。その結果を下表1に示す。
図1に示した装置を用い、インジェクタ(8)によりバッフル帯域(4)に供給されると共にバッフル帯域(4)を通過してコンパクト熱交換器(6)に流入する酸素/エタンガス混合物における酸素の分配(酸素とエタンとの比1:2.4)をフルエント(商標)ソフトウェアーを用いる3D CFDモデル化により分析した。この実施例において、邪魔板(5)は酸素/エタンガス流に対し垂直(すなわち90°)で配置した。
実施例3を反復したが、ただし邪魔板(5)を酸素/炭化水素ガス流に対し2.6度の角度で設置した。CFDモデル化の結果は、邪魔板(5)により変位された後の酸素およびエタンガスの混合が、実施例4(邪魔板がガス流に対し垂直)で得られたものほど良好でなかった(約96%混合)ことを示す。
Claims (16)
- 炭化水素と酸素含有ガスとの混合物を、オレフィンを生成する可燃性の燃料の燃料リッチ限界を越えて燃焼を支持しうる触媒の存在下に反応帯域にて部分燃焼させ、前記部分燃焼に先立ち炭化水素と酸素含有ガスとの前記混合物を熱交換器に通過させ、且つ該熱交換器は、複数のチャンネルを有するコンパクト熱交換器であり、圧力低下を与え、前記コンパクト熱交換器のチャンネル出口から流出する流体が、チャンネル出口から100mm未満の距離内で実質上均一な速度プロフィルを生じることを特徴とするオレフィンの製造方法。
- コンパクト熱交換器が、反応混合物の部分燃焼により発生した熱により間接加熱される請求項1に記載の方法。
- コンパクト熱交換器がガス出口を有すると共に隣接ガス出口間の間隔が1〜10mmの範囲である請求項1または2に記載の方法。
- コンパクト熱交換器が10〜1000ミリ秒の範囲の滞留時間を与える請求項1〜3のいずれか一項に記載の方法。
- コンパクト熱交換器が正方形断面を有する請求項1〜4のいずれか一項に記載の方法。
- 正方形の各辺が100〜3000mmの範囲である請求項5に記載の方法。
- コンパクト熱交換器が炭化水素と酸素含有ガスとの混合物を混合物の自己着火温度またはそれより高い温度まで予熱する請求項1〜6のいずれか一項に記載の方法。
- 炭化水素と酸素含有ガスとを、コンパクト熱交換器に通過させる前に少なくとも1つのバッフル帯域にて混合する請求項1〜7のいずれか一項に記載の方法。
- バッフル帯域がハウジングからなると共に、少なくとも1つの邪魔板がハウジングに内蔵される請求項8に記載の方法。
- 邪魔板が円形断面である請求項9に記載の方法。
- 邪魔板を、炭化水素と酸素含有ガスとの混合物の流動方向に対し実質的に垂直配置する請求項9または10に記載の方法。
- ハウジングが立方バッフル帯域を画定する請求項9〜11のいずれか一項に記載の方法。
- 邪魔板が円形断面であると共に、邪魔板の直径に対するハウジングの長さの比が4:1〜1:1の範囲である請求項12に記載の方法。
- 炭化水素と酸素含有ガスとの混合物を、複数の邪魔板からなる単一のバッフル帯域ハウジングに供給する混合装置にて予備混合する請求項8〜13のいずれか一項に記載の方法。
- 触媒が1種もしくはそれ以上の第VIII族遷移金属からなる請求項1〜14のいずれか一項に記載の方法。
- 炭化水素と酸素との化学量論比が、二酸化炭素と水を与える炭化水素の完全燃焼に要する炭化水素と酸素との化学量論比の5〜16倍である請求項1〜15のいずれか一項に記載の方法。
