Description
ることが可能な面状照明装置を提供することが出来る。
図1は、本発明の第1の実施の形態に係る面状照明装置を背面から見た概略構成図である。図2は、図1のIIの方向から見た面状照明装置の主要部の側面の構成の模式図である。
すると、ポリゴンミラー14の反射面の数を少なくすることにより走査部5の走査角を広くすることが必要になる。しかしながら、ポリゴンミラー14の反射面の数を少なくすると、走査角は広くなるが、走査の中央部(Bc付近)と右端及び左端(BRやBL付近)との間の走査速度の差が大きくなり、画面の左右の輝度がさらに低下することになる。これに対し、走査部5から導光部6までの距離を若干離して、走査部5の走査範囲を導光部6の長手寸法Lよりも大きく設定することにより、導光部6に入射する走査光4の輝度を導光部6の長手方向に比較的均一にすることができる。しかし、この場合には、導光部6の長手寸法Lから外れたレーザ光は、ロスになるため、レーザ光の利用効率が低下する。そこで、本実施形態に係る案内部材10を採用することにより、導光部6の外側に走査されてしまうレーザ光を、案内部材10によって効率的に導光部6に導くことができる。したがって、本実施形態に係る面状照明装置1によれば、レーザ光のロスを抑制しつつレーザ光を有効に利用することができるので、消費電力を低く抑えながら所定箇所の輝度を上げることができる。しかも、通常であれば長手方向11の輝度が走査端部において下がるが、本実施形態では、従前であればロスしていたレーザ光の光量を足し合わせることにより、導光部6に入射する走査光4の光量を長手方向11に略均一化させることも出来る。
図12は、本発明の第2の実施の形態に係る面状照明装置44を背面から見た概略構成図である。図13は、図12の面状照明装置44をXIIIの方向から見た主要部の側面図である。
図20は、本発明の第3の実施の形態に係る面状照明装置51を背面から見た概略構成図である。図21は、図20のXXIの方向から見た面状照明装置の主要部の側面図である。
図30は、本発明の第4の実施の形態に係る面状照明装置57を背面から見た概略構成図である。図31は。面状照明装置57に使用されるフレネルレンズ58の模式図である。図32は、図30に示す面状照明装置57において輝度の調整を行った後の状態を示す概略構成図である。

Claims (5)
- レーザ光を出射可能なレーザ光源と、
前記レーザ光を入射させるための入射面と、前記レーザ光を面状の出射光として出射させるための主面とを有する導光板と、
前記導光板の入射面の長手方向に延びる所定の範囲にわたり、前記レーザ光源からのレーザ光を前記導光板の入射面に照射させることが可能な照射部材とを備え、
前記照射部材は、前記入射面に入射するレーザ光の光量分布が、前記入射面の長手方向について所定の光量分布となるように構成され、
前記照射部材は、前記導光板と前記レーザ光源との間に配置されているとともに、前記レーザ光源からのレーザ光を平行光にすることが可能なフレネルレンズを備え、
前記フレネルレンズは、前記導光板の入射面と平行する面に対して交差する方向に湾曲可能に構成されていることを特徴とする面状照明装置。 - 前記フレネルレンズは、湾曲位置及び湾曲度合いを調整可能に構成されていることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の面状照明装置。
- 前記導光板の主面から出射されるレーザ光の輝度について、前記入射面の長手方向における最高の輝度が、最低の輝度の1.2倍以上、1.4倍以下であることを特徴とする請求項1又は2に記載の面状照明装置。
- 前記レーザ光源は、少なくとも赤色、緑色及び青色のレーザ光を出射する光源を有することを特徴とする請求項1〜3の何れか1項に記載の面状照明装置。
- 液晶表示パネルと、
前記液晶表示パネルをパネル背面側から照明するバックライト照明装置とを備え、
前記バックライト照明装置は、請求項1〜4の何れか1項に記載の面状照明装置からなることを特徴とする液晶表示装置。
