保持力=(保持材料の中に生成された圧力)×(静止摩擦係数)。
本発明の実施例では:
(1)無機コロイド粒子と有機結合剤の配合比と、無機コロイド粒子の脱落比との間の関係;
(2)無機コロイド粒子の量と、SSプレート及びマット間の摩擦係数との間の関係;並びに
(3)無機コロイド粒子の量と、触媒担体及びマット間の摩擦係数との間の関係
が、無機コロイド粒子と有機結合剤との配合比が触媒担体保持材料の摩擦層の形成中に変化された場合に関して試験された。
微細なシリカ(SiO2)粒子の脱落比(重量%)が、上記の方式により作られ及び微細なシリカ粒子をそこに接着させた各アルミナ繊維マットに関して、下記の手順にしたがって測定された。
SSプレートとマットとの間の摩擦係数が、島津製作所(Shimazu Corp.)により製造されたオートグラフAGS100D(Autograph AGS100D)(商標名)を使用することにより、上記の方式により作られ及び微細なシリカ粒子をそこに接着させたアルミナ繊維マットに関して、下記の手順にしたがって測定された。
触媒担体とマットとの間の摩擦係数が、島津製作所(Shimazu Corp.)により製造されたオートグラフAGS100D(Autograph AGS100D)(商標名)を使用することにより、上記の方式により作られ及び微細なシリカ粒子をそこに接着させたアルミナ繊維マットに関して、SSプレートとマットとの間の摩擦係数に関する上記の手順にしたがって測定された。
本発明の実施例では:
(1)無機コロイド粒子と有機結合剤の配合比と、無機コロイド粒子の脱落比との間の関係;
(2)無機コロイド粒子の量と、SSプレート及びマット間の摩擦係数との間の関係;並びに
(3)無機コロイド粒子の量と、触媒担体及びマット間の摩擦係数との間の関係
が、無機コロイド粒子と有機結合剤との配合比が触媒担体保持材料の摩擦層の形成中に変化された場合に関して、実施例1に記載された手順にしたがって試験された。
微細なアルミナ(Al2O3)粒子の脱落比(重量%)が、上記の方式により作られ及び微細なシリカ粒子をそこに接着させた各アルミナ繊維マットに関して、実施例1に記載された手順にしたがって測定された。以下の表4に記載され及び添付の図8にプロットされた測定結果(微細なアルミナ粒子の脱落比、重量%)が得られた。
SSプレートとマットとの間の摩擦係数が、上記の方式により作られ及び微細なアルミナ粒子をそこに接着させたアルミナ繊維マットに関して、実施例1に記載された手順にしたがって測定された。以下の表5に記載され及び添付の図9にプロットされた測定結果(SSプレートとマットとの間の摩擦係数)が得られた。更に、表及び図の中の「Al2O3の量」は、マットの全重量に関する微細なアルミナ粒子の量を意味する。
触媒担体とマットとの間の摩擦係数が、上記の方式により作られ及び微細なアルミナ粒子をそこに接着させたアルミナ繊維マットに関して、実施例1に記載された手順にしたがって測定された。以下の表6に記載され及び添付の図10にプロットされた測定結果(触媒担体とマットとの間の摩擦係数)が得られた。
触媒コンバータの製造
実施例1及び2の評価試験において、良好な測定結果を生み出すサンプルに関して、それらのサンプルと同じ構造の摩擦層を備えるアルミナ繊維マットが作製れた。次に、アルミナ繊維マットは、78mmの外径及び100mmの長さを有する円筒形状を有する、別個に準備された触媒担体(日本ガイシ株式会社(Nippon Gaishi K. K.)により製造されたモノリス体、商標名「ハニークリーム(HONEYCERAM)」)の外周の周りに巻かれた。その周りに巻かれたアルミナ繊維マットを有する触媒担体は、ガイドコーンを使用することにより、84mmの内径及び120mmの長さを有する円筒形のステンレススチールケーシングの中に、40mm/秒で圧入された。この缶詰化(canning)プロセスでは、触媒担体とケーシングとの間の隙間は約3mmであった。圧入は、触媒担体側面、ケーシング側面、並びに触媒担体側及びケーシング側のその両方の表面上に形成された摩擦層を有するアルミナ繊維マットを使用することにより遂行されたが、目標の触媒コンバータは、触媒担体又はアルミナ繊維マットの損傷及び組み立ての実現可能性の低減のようないずれの不都合もなく組み立てられた。更に、触媒担体とアルミナ繊維マットとの間にいずれの移動も起こらなかった。更に、得られた触媒コンバータは、実際の使用において目標の排気ガス浄化機能を十分に示すことができた。
Claims (11)
- 汚染防止要素のための保持材料であって、ケーシング内部の前記汚染防止要素の周りに巻かれ及びこの汚染防止要素を保持し、並びに前記ケーシングと前記汚染防止要素との間に配置され、前記保持材料が:
厚さ、外周表面、及び内周表面を有する無機繊維材料マット;並びに
無機コロイド粒子を含む少なくとも1つの摩擦層を含み、前記摩擦層が、前記マットの前記内周表面及び外周表面の内の1つのみに存在し、
前記保持材料が、前記ケーシングと前記汚染防止要素との間の汚染防止装置の中に配置されたとき、前記摩擦層が、前記ケーシング及び前記汚染防止要素の内の少なくとも1つに接触する、汚染防止要素のための保持材料。 - 汚染防止要素のための保持材料であって、ケーシング内部の前記汚染防止要素の周りに巻かれ及びこの汚染防止要素を保持し、並びに前記ケーシングと前記汚染防止要素との間に配置され、前記保持材料が:
厚さ、外周表面、及び内周表面を有する無機繊維材料マット;並びに
各々が無機コロイド粒子を含む、少なくとも2つの摩擦層を含み、1つの前記摩擦層が、前記マットの前記外周表面に存在し、並びにもう1つの摩擦層が、前記マットの前記内周表面に存在し、
前記保持材料が、前記ケーシングと前記汚染防止要素との間の汚染防止装置の中に配置されたとき、前記1つの摩擦層が、前記ケーシングに接触し、及び前記もう1つの摩擦層が、前記汚染防止要素に接触する、汚染防止要素のための保持材料。 - 前記無機コロイド粒子が、1〜100nmの平均粒径を有する、請求項1又は2に記載の保持材料。
- 各前記摩擦層が、前記マットの表面上の、無機材料の微粒子を含むコロイド溶液のコーティングである、請求項1〜3のいずれか一項に記載の保持材料。
- 前記保持材料が、汚染防止要素のケーシング内部に汚染防止要素を作動可能なように取り付けられる、請求項1〜4のいずれか一項に記載の保持材料。
- ケーシング、前記ケーシング内部に配置された汚染防止要素、及び請求項1〜5のいずれか一項に記載の保持材料を含む汚染防止装置であって、前記汚染防止装置内部に前記汚染防止要素を取り付けるために、前記保持材料が前記ケーシングと前記汚染防止要素との間に配置されている、汚染防止装置。
- (a)前記汚染防止要素が触媒担体であり、前記汚染防止装置が触媒コンバータであるか又は(b)前記汚染防止要素がフィルター要素であり、前記汚染防止装置が排気ガス浄化装置である、請求項6に記載の汚染防止装置。
- 請求項6又は7に記載の汚染防止装置を含む内燃機関のための排気システム。
- 請求項8に記載の排気システムを含む内燃機関。
- 請求項8に記載の排気システムを有する内燃機関を含む車両。
- 請求項8に記載の排気システムを有する内燃機関を含む発電機。
