Description
図1は、本発明の実施の形態1における青色LEDと蛍光体層を備えた液晶表示装置であり、対向基板上に透明層および蛍光体層を有する色変換部を備えている。また、図2は、本発明の実施の形態1における青色LEDと蛍光体層を備えた別の液晶表示装置であり、TFTアレイ基板上に透明層および蛍光体層を有する色変換部を備えている。
Claims (1)
- カラー表示を行う液晶表示装置において、
青色LEDからなるバックライトと、
前記青色LEDからの青色光を透過する透明層、前記青色光を緑色光に色変換する緑色蛍光体層、および前記青色光を赤色光に色変換する赤色蛍光体層を有し、TFTアレイ基板上に設けられた色変換部と、
前記TFTアレイ基板上で、前記色変換部の前記緑色蛍光体層および前記赤色蛍光体層で色変換された後の光を偏光する偏光層と
を備え、
前記緑色蛍光体層および前記赤色蛍光体層は、アクリル系の有機物質から構成され、
緑色染料および赤色染料により、前記緑色蛍光体層および前記赤色蛍光体層のそれぞれで、上面および側面を含む表面だけがそれぞれ染色され、前記緑色蛍光体層および前記赤色蛍光体層が色変換機能と色純度を上げる機能を合わせ持ち、
前記青色光を透過する前記透明層の表面には染料が塗布されていない
ことを特徴とする液晶表示装置。
