米国特許第6,299,936号は、(A)フリーラジカル重合により得られる、少なくとも1種のポリマーであって、≦5重量%のα,β−エチレン性不飽和モノ−またはジカルボン酸を共重合形態で含むポリマー;(B)フリーラジカル重合により得られる、少なくとも1種のポリマーであって、≧15重量%のα,β−エチレン性不飽和モノ−またはジカルボン酸を共重合形態で含むポリマー;ならびに(C)少なくとも2つのヒドロキシアルキル基を有する少なくとも1種のアルカノールアミンを含む熱硬化性水性組成物を開示している。
(実施例1)
パドルスターラー、熱電対、窒素入口、および還流冷却器を備えた5リットルの丸底フラスコに、876.4グラムの脱イオン水、24.2グラムの次亜リン酸ナトリウム一水和物、28.5グラムのラウリルエーテル硫酸ナトリウム界面活性剤溶液(30%)、3.1グラムの水酸化ナトリウム、および0.058グラムの阻害剤を入れた。混合物を79℃に加熱した。
スターラー、熱電対、窒素入口、および還流冷却器を備えた5ガロンステンレス鋼リアクターに、3221.7グラムの脱イオン水、109.1グラムの次亜リン酸ナトリウム一水和物、128.4グラムのラウリルエーテル硫酸ナトリウム界面活性剤溶液(30%)、13.9グラムの水酸化ナトリウム、および0.26グラムの阻害剤を添加した。混合物を79℃に加熱した。
凝縮器、熱電対、およびメカニカルスターラーを備えた1Lフラスコに、157.5グラム(1.5モル)のジエタノールアミン(DEOA)を添加した。室温で1気圧の窒素下、外部加熱なしで開始して、171.2グラム(1.5モル)のε−カプロラクトンを反応フラスコにピペットにより少量ずつ1時間にわたって添加した。反応混合物は若干発熱して31℃を示した。ε−カプロラクトンの添加が完了した後、反応混合物をさらに1時間攪拌した。
バインダー組成物の成分を表Bに示した量で組み合わせた。連続して攪拌された5リットルフラスコ中、ポリオールをラテックスに添加し、続いて促進剤、次いで水を添加した。
3/4インチK Fiber湿潤チョップ(オハイオ州トレドに本社があるOwens Corningにより製造)を用い、1シートあたり約7.6グラムのガラス繊維(100平方フィートあたり1.8ポンド)を用いて、ガラス繊維不織ハンドシートを製造した。NALCO7768ポリアクリルアミド粘度調節剤(イリノイ州ネーパービルに本社があるNalco Companyにより製造)、およびNALCO 01NM149分散剤(イリノイ州ネーパービルに本社があるNalco Companyにより製造)を用いて、ガラス繊維を水中に分散させた。Williams Standard Pulp Testing Apparatus(ニューヨーク州ウォータータウンに本社があるWilliams Apparatus Companyにより製造)、ハンドシート型中でハンドシートを形成する。湿潤シートを真空ステーションに移し、ここで、バインダーを湿潤シート上に直接注ぐことにより、本発明のバインダー組成物(実施例6〜13)および比較組成物(実施例14〜16)で飽和させ、次いで真空により脱水した。シートを強制空気オーブン中、30秒間、210℃で乾燥/硬化させた。
ガラス繊維不織ハンドシートを引っ張り試験のために1インチ×5インチストリップに切り出した。Thwing−Albert Intellect 500引っ張り試験機(ニュージャージー州ウェストベルリンに本社があるThwing−Albert Instrument Companyにより製造)を用い、200 lbロードセル、1インチ/分のクロスヘッド速度、20%感度、および3インチギャップで、乾燥および加熱/湿潤試験を各サンプルからの7つのストリップに関して行った。製造したストリップに関して乾燥引っ張り試験を行った。10分間85℃の水中にストリップを浸漬し、次いでストリップを取り出した直後に、ストリップが依然として濡れたままで、加熱/湿潤引っ張り強度試験を行った。1kNロードセルと、−100から400°F(−73℃から204℃)の温度範囲性能を有するジョーを収容したオーブンチャンバーとを備えたInstron4201引っ張り試験機(マサチューセッツ州ノーウッドに本社がある、Instronにより製造)を用いて、製造したストリップに関して加熱/乾燥引っ張り試験を行った。試験前に、引っ張り試験機のオーブンチャンバーを302°F(150℃)に予熱した。予熱したら、ストリップをジョー中に置き、オーブンチャンバーを閉鎖し、302°F(150℃)にもどして平衡化させた。サンプルを次に、3インチギャップで1インチ/分のクロスヘッド速度で引き離した。
試験結果を表Cに示す。
Claims (8)
- (a)40℃から70℃の測定されたガラス転移温度(Tg)、および40%以上の合計重量固形分を有する、10重量%から25重量%のカルボキシ酸モノマーを共重合単位として含む少なくとも1種のポリカルボキシエマルジョンコポリマー;ならびに
(b)第一ヒドロキシ基および少なくとも1つの追加のヒドロキシ基を含み、700未満の分子量を有する少なくとも1種のポリオール架橋剤、
ここで、第一ヒドロキシ基当量:カルボキシ基当量の比が0.25:1から2.0:1である;
を含むバインダー組成物。 - 前記カルボン酸モノマーが、アクリル酸およびメタクリル酸からなる群から選択される請求項1記載のバインダー組成物。

(b)第一ヒドロキシ基および少なくとも1つの追加のヒドロキシ基を含み、700未満の分子量を有する少なくとも1種のポリオール架橋剤、
ここで、第一ヒドロキシ基当量:カルボキシ基当量の比が0.25:1から2.0:1である;
を含むバインダー組成物により結合された不織繊維を含む不織マット。 - 第一ヒドロキシ基当量:カルボキシ基当量の比が0.4:1から1.75:1である請求項1記載のバインダー組成物。
