Description
例えば、上記実施の形態では、側鎖を有する第1のスペーサ31と側鎖を有しない第2のスペーサ32とがほぼ同一の粒径を有しているが、本発明はこれに限らず、第1のスペーサ31及び第2のスペーサ32の粒径を互いに異ならせてもよい。また、第1のスペーサ31として、側鎖の炭素数等が互いに異なる複数種類のスペーサを用いてもよい。さらに、その複数種類のスペーサの粒径を例えば種類毎に異ならせてもよい。

Claims (7)
- 積層された複数の液晶層と、
前記液晶層の厚さを維持する粒状スペーサとを含み、
前記粒状スペーサは側鎖を表面に有する第1のスペーサと側鎖を表面に有しない第2のスペーサとからなり、
前記複数の液晶層は、コレステリック相を形成し互いに異なる螺旋ピッチを有する液晶をそれぞれ有し、
前記粒状スペーサに占める前記第1のスペーサの割合は、前記螺旋ピッチが長いほど大きいこと
を特徴とする液晶表示素子。 - 請求項1記載の液晶表示素子において、
前記粒状スペーサに占める前記第1のスペーサの割合は、前記液晶層毎に異なること
を特徴とする液晶表示素子。 - 請求項1又は2に記載の液晶表示素子において、
前記側鎖はアルキル鎖であること
を特徴とする液晶表示素子。 - 請求項1乃至3のいずれか1項に記載の液晶表示素子において、
前記第1及び第2のスペーサは、ほぼ同一の粒径を有していること
を特徴とする液晶表示素子。 - 請求項1乃至4のいずれか1項に記載の液晶表示素子において、
前記複数の液晶層を駆動する共通の駆動回路をさらに有すること
を特徴とする液晶表示素子。 - 請求項1乃至5のいずれか1項に記載の液晶表示素子において、
前記液晶層は3層であり、それぞれ赤色、緑色、青色を表示すること
を特徴とする液晶表示素子。 - 請求項1乃至6のいずれか1項に記載の液晶表示素子を備えていること
を特徴とする電子ペーパー。
