Description
0.02MのHNO3を約1.9%と、比率約74:23:3のスチレン/n−ブチルアクリレート/β−カルボキシエチルアクリレートのコポリマーを含むラテックス核を約24.7%と、比率約74:23:3のスチレン/n−ブチルアクリレート/β−カルボキシエチルアクリレートのコポリマーを含むラテックス殻を約12.2%と、Regal 330カーボンブラックを約6.7%と、脱イオン水を約54.5%とを予備混合したものを、圧力ポンプを経由して2連スクリュー押出機(Coperion製のZSK25)に注入し、凝集および合一を行った。押出機の長さ/直径(L/D比)は、約53であり、スクリューのL/Dは約54.16であった。スクリューの形状は輸送スクリュー、続いて中立混練要素、右手混練要素、中立混練ブロック、左手混練要素、および応力、歪み、滞留時間を制御するための小ピッチの輸送要素、および予備混合材料のポンプ給送を有した。供給速度は約48g/分〜約97g/分に調節し、温度は約40℃〜約100℃であった。スクリュー速度は約200〜約800rpmで変化させた。樹脂粒径は、Sysmex Corporation製のFPIA 2100を用いて測定した。その結果、約0.9μm〜約2.53μmの初期粒径から粒子が成長していることが示された。より高いスクリュー速度および供給速度で、より良好な粒子成長が観察され、粒子は懸濁されて維持された。
Claims (5)
- 凝集ゾーンと、合一ゾーンと、洗浄ゾーンとを含む単一反応容器中でトナーを製造する方法であって、
着色剤とラテックスエマルジョンを1分〜5分間凝集させて、凝集したトナー粒子を前記単一反応容器の凝集ゾーン中に形成する工程と、
前記凝集したトナー粒子を前記単一反応容器の合一ゾーン中で0.5分〜2分間合一させて、凝集および合一したトナー粒子を形成する工程と、
前記凝集および合一したトナー粒子を前記単一反応容器の洗浄ゾーン中で1分〜5分間洗浄し、それによってトナーを形成する工程とを含むことを特徴とする方法。 - 請求項1に記載の方法であって、前記凝集ゾーン中の前記着色剤とラテックスエマルジョンが20℃〜50℃の温度、および2.5〜7のpHであり、前記合一ゾーン中の前記凝集したトナー粒子が70℃〜98℃の温度、および3.5〜10のpHであり、前記洗浄ゾーン中の前記凝集および合一したトナー粒子が20℃〜65℃の温度、および3〜9のpHであることを特徴とする方法。
- 請求項1に記載の方法であって、前記ラテックスエマルジョンが、スチレン、アクリレート、メタクリレート、ブタジエン、イソプレン、アクリル酸、メタクリル酸、アクリロニトリル、およびそれらの混合物からなる群から選択されるモノマーを重合してなるラテックス粒子を含み、前記着色剤が、ブラック顔料、シアン顔料、マゼンタ顔料、レッド顔料、ブラウン顔料、オレンジ顔料、イエロー顔料、およびその混合物からなる群から選択されることを特徴とする方法。
- 請求項1に記載の方法であって、アルカリ土類金属塩および遷移金属塩からなる群から選択される凝集剤を前記凝集ゾーン中の前記ラテックスに加える工程をさらに含むことを特徴とする方法。
- 請求項1に記載の方法であって、水酸化ナトリウム、水酸化カリウム、水酸化アンモニウム、水酸化ナトリウム中に溶解したケイ酸ナトリウム、およびその混合物からなる群から選択される金属水酸化物安定化剤を前記合一ゾーン中の前記凝集したトナー粒子に加える工程をさらに含むことを特徴とする方法。
