Claims (5)
- 第1の基板と第2の基板とで液晶を挟んでなる液晶表示装置の製造方法であって、
前記第1の基板にシール材を塗布するシール材塗布ステップと、
前記第1の基板の前記シール材で囲まれた領域に液晶を滴下する液晶滴下ステップと、
前記第1の基板と前記第2の基板とを貼り合わせる基板貼り合わせステップとを有し、
前記シール材塗布ステップでは、前記シール材として、第1のシール枠と、当該第1のシール枠の内側に第2のシール枠とを塗布し、前記第2のシール枠の少なくとも一部は、開口しており、
前記基板貼り合わせステップでは、前記第2のシール枠の開口が閉じ、前記第1のシール枠と前記第2のシール枠との間に、余剰の液晶と気泡とが封止される
ことを特徴とする液晶表示装置の製造方法。 - 請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置の製造方法であって、
前記第2のシール枠の開口部は、液晶の滴下位置から近いほど、単位範囲あたりの開口率が小さくなるように設けられている
ことを特徴とする液晶表示装置の製造方法。 - 請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置の製造方法であって、
前記シール材塗布ステップは、
前記第1の基板と前記第2の基板とを貼り合わせたときにおいて、前記第1の基板と前記第2の基板と前記第1のシール枠とで囲まれた容積が、前記第2のシール枠の体積と前記液晶の滴下量のばらつきの最大量の合計に等しくなるように、前記第1のシール枠と前記第2のシール枠を塗布する
ことを特徴とする液晶表示装置の製造方法。 - 請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置の製造方法であって、
前記シール材塗布ステップは、
前記第1の基板と前記第2の基板とを貼り合わせたときにおいて、前記第2のシール枠の内側の容積が、前記液晶の滴下量のばらつきの最小量と等しくなるように、前記第2のシール枠を塗布する
ことを特徴とする液晶表示装置の製造方法。 - 第1の基板と第2の基板とで液晶を挟んでなる液晶表示装置の製造方法であって、
前記第1の基板にシール材を塗布するシール材塗布ステップと、
前記第1の基板の前記シール材で囲まれた内側に液晶を滴下する液晶滴下ステップと、
前記第1の基板と前記第2の基板とを貼り合わせる基板貼り合わせステップとを有し、
前記シール材塗布ステップでは、前記第1の基板上に、前記シール材により、
閉じた領域を形成するとともに、
前記閉じた領域内に、表示領域となる液晶充填領域と、前記液晶充填領域の外周側であって余剰液晶及び真空気泡を取り込むための捕捉領域とを形成し、
前記液晶充填領域と前記捕捉領域との間には、前記液晶充填領域に滴下された液晶が前記捕捉領域に流出し得る漏洩路が設けられており、
前記基板貼り合わせステップでは、前記漏洩路が閉じ、前記余剰液晶及び真空気泡が前記補足領域に封止される
ことを特徴とする液晶表示装置の製造方法。
