Description
この排気浄化装置は、排気系に還元触媒を配設し、該還元触媒の排気上流にノズルから還元剤を噴射して添加することにより、排気中のNOxと還元剤とを触媒還元反応させて、NOxを無害成分に浄化処理するものである。その還元反応は、NOxと反応性が良好なアンモニアを用いるものであり、このための還元剤としては、排気熱及び排気中の水蒸気により加水分解してアンモニアを容易に発生する尿素水溶液やアンモニア水溶液又はHC系などの液体還元剤が用いられる。
請求項3に係る排気浄化装置は、前記フィルタが、排気中のNOをNO 2 に酸化する酸化触媒物質を担持していることを特徴とする。
請求項3に係る排気浄化装置によれば、粒子状物質を捕集するためのフィルタにNOの酸化触媒の機能を兼備させることができ、部品点数の低減を図ることができる。
各実施形態に係るSCR式の排気浄化装置は、尿素水溶液等の液体還元剤を貯蔵したタンク1から適量の液体還元剤をノズル2へ供給するための添加装置3と、排気温度やエンジン4のECU5から得られるエンジン回転速度等に応じて添加装置3の供給制御を行うECU6と、を備えている。また、タンク1内における測定に適した位置、たとえばタンク底面近傍には液体還元剤の濃度センサ7が垂下され、ECU6へ測定信号を出力している。
これら、触媒20〜22とフィルタ23を配置するバリエーションにつき図1〜図5に示している。図示のケーシング10は縦置きされており、排気入口11のある排気上流側が上段、排気出口12のある排気下流側が下段となっている。なお、図示の例では排気入口11と排気出口12とを上下段に離して配置してあるが、車載レイアウトを考慮した場合、排気入口11と排気出口12とを近接させて配置することも可能である。たとえば、図示のケーシング10の下段側に排気入口11及び排気出口12の両方を近接させて配置し、該下段側の排気入口11から上段へ排気を導いて触媒に流入させる構造、あるいは、図示のケーシング10の上段側に排気入口11及び排気出口12の両方を近接させて配置し、上段から触媒を通って下段へ流れた排気を上段側の排気出口12へ導いて排出する構造とすることが可能である。
図3に示す第3実施形態のケーシング10では、折返部位14よりも上流側の排気経路15に、上流から下流へ順に酸化触媒20と還元触媒21が直列配置され、また、折返部位14よりも下流側の排気経路16に、上流から下流へ順にアンモニア酸化触媒22とフィルタ23が直列配置されている。そしてノズル2は、上流側の排気経路15における酸化触媒20と還元触媒21との間に配設されている。
図4に示す第4実施形態のケーシング10は、NOを酸化する酸化触媒の機能を兼ねたフィルタ24を用いた例である。酸化触媒兼備フィルタ24は、粒子状物質捕集フィルタの表面に酸化触媒物質を担持させることで形成することができる。この第4実施形態では、酸化触媒兼用フィルタ24が折返部位14よりも上流側の排気経路15に配置され、折返部位14よりも下流側の排気経路16には、上流から下流へ順に還元触媒21とアンモニア酸化触媒22が直列配置されている。そして、ノズル2は、折返部位14の上流寄りに配設されて、還元触媒21の排気上流に液体還元剤を噴射する。
図5に示す第5実施形態のケーシング10は、アンモニア酸化触媒の機能を持たせたフィルタ25を用いた例である。アンモニア酸化触媒兼用フィルタ24は、粒子状物質捕集フィルタの表面にアンモニア酸化触媒物質を担持させることで形成することができる。この第5実施形態では、折返部位14よりも上流側の排気経路15に、上流から下流へ順に酸化触媒20と還元触媒21が直列配置され、折返部位14よりも下流側の排気経路16に、アンモニア酸化触媒兼備フィルタ25が配置されている。そして、ノズル2は上流側の排気経路15における酸化触媒20と還元触媒21との間に配設されている。

Claims (4)
- 仕切壁で内部を区切ることにより、折返部位でのみ連通する二室を形成し、前記二室の一方に排気入口を設けると共に前記二室の他方に排気出口を設けてあり、前記排気入口から前記排気出口へ至る排気経路が前記折返部位で折り返される、角形箱状のケーシングと、
液体還元剤を前記折返部位の排気中に噴射するノズルと、
前記二室の他方に配置され、前記液体還元剤により窒素酸化物を還元浄化する還元触媒と、
前記二室の一方に配置され、排気中の粒子状物質を捕集するフィルタと、
を含んで構成され、
前記ケーシングを縦置きしたときに、前記二室が上下に並ぶと共に前記折返部位が前記ケーシングの高さ相当の長さをもち、該折返部位の上流寄りに前記ノズルが設置される、
ことを特徴とする排気浄化装置。 - 前記二室の一方に配置され、排気中の一酸化窒素を二酸化窒素に酸化する酸化触媒をさらに含むことを特徴とする請求項1記載の排気浄化装置。
- 前記フィルタが、排気中の一酸化窒素を二酸化窒素に酸化する酸化触媒物質を担持していることを特徴とする請求項2記載の排気浄化装置。
- 前記二室の他方において前記還元触媒よりも下流に配置され、排気中のアンモニアを酸化するアンモニア酸化触媒をさらに含むことを特徴とする請求項1〜3のいずれか1項に記載の排気浄化装置。
