Description
固有粘度(IV)は、米国材料試験協会(ASTM)D5225−92に準拠した自動化方法に従って19℃で0.4グラム/dL濃度で50/50重量%トリフルオロ酢酸/塩化メチレンに溶解したポリ(トリメチレンテレフタレート)またはポリ(テトラメチレンテレフタレート)についてヴィスコテック強制流動粘度計(Viscotek Forced Flow Viscometer)Y900(テキサス州ヒューストンのヴィスコテック・コーポレーション(Viscotek Corporation,Houston,TX))で測定した粘度を用いて測定した。これらの測定したIV値を、ASTM D4603−96に従って60/40重量%フェノール/1,1,2,2−テトラクロロエタン中で手動で測定したIV値と相関させた。
次の実施例で報告するポリ(トリメチレンテレフタレート)糸の物理的性質は、インストロン社(Instron Corp.)引張試験機、モデルNo.1122を用いて測定した。より具体的には、破断伸びEb、および靱性はASTM D−2256に従って測定した。
周知のリーソナかせ収縮試験を、テクスチャー加工糸の嵩高さを測定するために用いた。先ず、必要とされるラップの数を、次式を用いて求めた。
ラップの数=12,500デニール/(糸デニール×2)
次に、上の方程式から求めたラップの数を用いてかせをリール上に巻き付け、リールの円周を最終計算での使用のために測定した。次に、20グラム重りをかせからつるし、かせをリールから取り外した。(かせを弛緩させなかった。)かせを20グラム張力下で依然としてつるしたまま、それを180°Fで10分間水の容器中に完全に浸漬した。かせを水の容器から取り出し(重りを取り除くことなく)、2分後に20グラム重りを付けたままかせの長さを測定した。かせ収縮を、式:
パーセントかせ収縮=(LO−LF)×100/LO
(ここで、LO=かせの元の長さ(リールの1/2円周)、およびLF=ホットトリートメント後の重りが付いた状態の最終長さである)を用いて計算した。
ポリ(トリメチレンテレフタレート)組成物を、1.02のIVを有するソロナ(Sorona)(登録商標)セミ−ダル・ポリ(トリメチレンテレフタレート)(CPポリマー)ペレット(デラウェア州ウィルミントンの本願特許出願人から入手可能な)(ポリ(トリメチレンテレフタレート))からそれだけで(対照)またはクラスチン(Crastin)(登録商標)6129ポリ(テトラメチレンテレフタレート)(デラウェア州ウィルミントンの本願特許出願人)入りで調製した。
(手順A)
ポリ(トリメチレンテレフタレート)ペレットを、30ミリメートル(mm)のバレル直径のおよびMJM−4スクリュー付きの通常のスクリュー再溶融配合機(ニュージャージー州ラムゼイのヴェルナー・アンド・プフライデラー社(Werner & Pfleiderer Corp.,Ramsey,NJ))を用いてポリ(テトラメチレンテレフタレート)および、任意選択的にポリスチレンと配合した。押出ダイは、ダイ入口にスクリーン・フィルター付きで直径が3/16インチ(4.76mm)であった。
ごま塩状ブレンドを、ポリ(トリメチレンテレフタレート)、ポリ(テトラメチレンテレフタレート)および、使用する場合には、ポリスチレン・ペレットからペレットの混合物を調製しそれらを溶融することによって調製した。それらは配合されなかった。
手順AおよびBからのペレット(または対照例ではポリ(トリメチレンテレフタレート)ペレット)を120℃で最小16時間乾燥するために真空オーブン中に入れた。乾燥ペレットをオーブンから取り出し、窒素で覆われた室温に維持した供給ホッパー中へ速やかに投入した。ペレットを100グラム毎分(gpm)で二軸スクリュー再溶融機に供給した。バレル加熱区分は、ゾーン1については240℃、ゾーン2〜5については265℃、ゾーン7〜8については268℃に設定した。ポンプ・ブロックは268℃であり、パック・ボックスヒーターは268℃であった。
部分延伸糸を、手順BおよびCに従って調製したポリ(トリメチレンテレフタレート)ごま塩状ブレンドまたはそれだけから通常の紡糸技術を用いて紡糸した。手順AおよびCを用いて調製したこの組成物を、273℃に維持したサンド・フィルター紡糸パックおよび34の円形穴紡糸口金(0.012インチ(0.3mm)直径および0.022インチ(0.56mm)毛管深さ穴)を通して押し出した。紡糸口金を出たフィラメント流れを21℃の空気で急冷し、束に集中させ、紡糸仕上剤を塗布した。下の表に示した表面下速度の転送ロールが糸束を交絡ジェットへ、そして次に下の表に示した速度で作動する巻取機上へ配送した。紡糸条件および得られた部分延伸糸の特性を表1に示す。
部分延伸糸を様々なスチレンポリマー入りで多様な条件下に製造できることを実証するために、手順Aに従って調製したブレンドから実施例2に記載するように糸を紡糸した。
この実施例は、本発明に従って製造した糸が次の延伸テクスチャー加工作業で有用であることを示す。
紡糸延伸糸をポリ(トリメチレンテレフタレート)(「3GT」)/ポリ(テトラメチレンテレフタレート)(「4GT」)ペレット・ブレンドからスピニング・ユニットで製造した。その結果を次の表にまとめる。
以下に、本発明の好ましい態様を示す。
1. (a)約0.05〜約5モル%のテトラメチレンテレフタレート繰り返し単位を含むポリ(トリメチレンテレフタレート)組成物を提供する工程と、(b)該ポリマー組成物を紡糸して繊維を形成する工程とを含むことを特徴とするポリ(トリメチレンテレフタレート)繊維の製造方法。
2. 前記マルチフィラメント糸が部分延伸糸であり、かつ、前記紡糸が少なくとも約3,000m/mの紡糸速度で紡糸口金を通して前記ポリ(トリメチレンテレフタレート)組成物を押し出すことを含むことを特徴とする1.に記載の方法。
3. 前記マルチフィラメント糸が、約0.5〜約2.5dpfのフィラメントよりなる部分延伸糸であり、かつ、少なくとも約2,500m/mの紡糸速度で紡糸されることを特徴とする1.に記載の方法。
4. 前記マルチフィラメント糸が紡糸延伸糸であり、および、前記加工が延伸工程の終わりのローラーで測定される際に、約2,000〜約8,000メートル/分の延伸速度で該フィラメントを延伸する工程を含むことを特徴とする1.に記載の方法。
5. 約0.05〜約5モル%のテトラメチレンテレフタレート繰り返し単位を含むことを特徴とするポリ(トリメチレンテレフタレート)組成物。
6. 約0.05〜約5モル%のテトラメチレンテレフタレート繰り返し単位を含むポリ(トリメチレンテレフタレート)組成物を含むことを特徴とするポリ(トリメチレンテレフタレート)繊維。
7. 6.に記載される繊維を含むことを特徴とするポリ(トリメチレンテレフタレート)マルチフィラメント糸。
8. 7.に記載の糸を含むことを特徴とする布。
9. 7.に記載の糸から製造されることを特徴とするカーペット。
10. 前記ポリ(トリメチレンテレフタレート)組成物が約95〜約99.95モル%のトリメチレンテレフタレート単位および約5〜0.005モル%のテトラメチレンテレフタレート繰り返し単位を含むことを特徴とする1.〜9のいずれか1項に記載の方法、組成物、繊維、糸、布またはカーペット。
11. 前記ポリ(トリメチレンテレフタレート)組成物が約70〜約99.95モル%のポリ(トリメチレンテレフタレート)、約5〜約0.05モル%のテトラメチレンテレフタレート繰り返し単位、および、任意選択的に29.95モル%までの他のポリマー単位を含むことを特徴とする1.〜9のいずれか1項に記載の方法、組成物、繊維、糸、布またはカーペット。
12. 前記ポリ(トリメチレンテレフタレート)組成物が約0.5〜約3モル%のテトラメチレンテレフタレート繰り返し単位を含むことを特徴とする1.〜11のいずれか1項に記載の方法、組成物、繊維、糸、布またはカーペット。
13. 前記ポリ(トリメチレンテレフタレート)組成物が約1〜約2.5モル%のテトラメチレンテレフタレート繰り返し単位を含むことを特徴とする12.に記載の方法、組成物、繊維、糸、布またはカーペット。
14. 前記ポリ(トリメチレンテレフタレート)組成物が約1.5〜約2.5モル%のテトラメチレンテレフタレート繰り返し単位を含むことを特徴とする12.に記載の方法、組成物、繊維、糸、布またはカーペット。
15. 前記ポリ(トリメチレンテレフタレート)組成物がスチレンポリマーをさらに含むことを特徴とする1.〜14のいずれか1項に記載の方法、組成物、繊維、糸、布またはカーペット。
Claims (2)
- 0.05〜2.5モル%のテトラメチレンテレフタレート繰り返し単位を含むことを特徴とする2,500m/mもしくはそれ以上の速度で紡糸される高速紡糸用ポリ(トリメチレンテレフタレート)組成物。
- 0.05〜2.5モル%のテトラメチレンテレフタレート繰り返し単位を含むポリ(トリメチレンテレフタレート)コポリマー。
