Description
オーディオ・システムは長い間、別々のハウジングに入った個々の構成要素を備えてきた。例えば、コンポーネント・ステレオ・システムは、少なくとも1950年代から、チューナー、アンプ、テープデッキ、および何らかの回転メディアプレーヤーを含んでいただろう。洗練されたビデオシステムも、昔から「コンポーネント化」されており、そのため、コンポーネント・ビデオシステムには、VCRまたはDVDプレーヤーと接続されたテレビ、およびパーソナル・ビデオ・カメラまたはPVRを含めることができた。
発明の対象は、それ自体のIPアドレスを持ち、それらのIPアドレスを使用してアドレス指定された情報のパケットを使用して、通信を行う要素を提供する。個々の要素は、他の要素と共に共通ハウジングに収めるか、仮想デバイスの一部として個別化された方法で使用されることができる。
各要素は、任意の適当な物理的形状を有することができる。例えば、記憶要素23は、RAMまたはROMチップまたはチップバンク、回転メモリー、連続テープ型メモリー、その他に対応することができる。
好ましい記憶要素上で使用可能なストレージ・スペースは、本書でパーティションと呼ばれるより小さいストレージ・スペースに論理的または物理的に分割されることになる。そのようなパーティションは、複数のストレージ・ロケーション(すなわちブロック)を含み、それぞれが論理ブロック・アドレス(LBA)と呼ばれる独自のIDと関連付けられていることが好ましい。記憶要素が、パーソナルコンピュータで通常使用されているようなハードディスクを含んでいる場合、記憶要素のパーティション、ブロック、およびLBAは、ハードディスクのパーティション、ブロックおよびLBAと等しい。または、パーティション、ブロック、およびLBAは、単に、その他の要素が記憶要素と対話するモデルであることがある。
好ましい実施態様においては、要素同士の間の通信、特に記憶要素と非記憶要素間の通信は、データブロックをターゲット装置にアトミックにマッピングするデータグラム・プロトコルを利用することになる。要素相互間で送信されるデータグラムは、コマンド(CMD)、論理ブロック・アドレス(LBA)、データ、およびトークン・フィールド、そしてXバイト以下(Xが1、2、5、10、15、および30のうちの1つ)の追加バイトを含むことが好ましい。
Claims (22)
- 複数の機能部分の個別の機能部分にアドレス指定された情報のパケットを使用して相互に通信する複数の機能部分を含む電気装置であって、パケットを使用して相互に通信する少なくとも2つの装置の機能部分が、共通ハウジング内に配置され、互いに配線により接続されており、前記複数の機能部分の少なくとも1つは、共通ハウジングの外部にある機能部分により、発見できる、電気装置。
- 装置がカメラを含む、請求項1に記載の電気装置。
- 装置がラジオを含む、請求項1に記載の電気装置。
- 装置がテレビを含む、請求項1に記載の電気装置。
- 装置が電話を含む、請求項1に記載の電気装置。
- 装置が台所用電化製品を含む、請求項1に記載の電気装置。
- 大容量記憶装置をさらに含み、前記大容量記憶装置の論理ディスク・セグメントは、装置の複数の機能部分の1つである、請求項1に記載の電気装置。
- 装置の機能部分として、キーボード、ディスプレイ画面、音声入力および音声出力のうち少なくとも1つをさらに含む、請求項1に記載の電気装置。
- 装置の機能部分として、キーボード、ディスプレイ画面、音声入力および音声出力、大容量記憶装置をさらに含む、請求項1に記載の電気装置。
- 少なくとも2つの装置の機能部分が、パケットを使用して公衆パケット交換網を介して相互に通信する機能を含む、請求項1に記載の電気装置。
- 少なくとも1つの装置の機能部分が大容量記憶装置を含む、請求項1に記載の電気装置。
- 装置の少なくとも2つの機能部分のうちの第1の部分と共通ハウジングの外部にある機能部分が、仮想バスとして動作するネットワークを介して相互に通信する機能を含む、請求項1に記載の電気装置。
- ネットワークは、IPネットワークである、請求項12に記載の電気装置。
- 少なくとも一部のパケットがワイヤレス・ネットワークを介して搬送されるよう、ワイヤレス機能を更に含む、請求項1に記載の電気装置。
- 少なくとも2つの装置の機能部分がピア・トゥー・ピア・プロトコルを使用して相互に通信する機能を含む、請求項1に記載の電気装置。
- 共通ハウジングに組み込まれた装置の機能部分であって、共通ハウジングに組み込まれた装置の他の機能部分と情報のパケットを通信するのに使用されるそれ自体のIPアドレスを有し、前記パケットを通信するNICに結合する、装置の機能部分。
- 前記装置の機能部分は、大容量記憶装置の物理的セグメントの一部を形成するデータ記憶媒体である、請求項16に記載の装置の機能部分。
- 前記装置の機能部分は、大容量記憶装置である、請求項16に記載の装置の機能部分。
- 前記NICは、他のハウジングを有する他の装置のタッチ・ヒューマン・インターフェースとパケットを通信する、請求項16に記載の装置の機能部分。
- ワイヤレス・ネットワークへの接続をさらに含む、請求項16に記載の装置の機能部分。
- テレビジョン、チューナー、およびシグナル・デコーダのうちの少なくとも1つである、請求項16に記載の装置の機能部分。
