また、本発明による請求項4に記載の内燃機関の排気浄化装置は、請求項1から3のいずれか一項に記載の内燃機関の排気浄化装置において、前記第一排気浄化装置は貴金属触媒を担持した触媒装置であり、前記第二排気浄化装置はパティキュレートフィルタであることを特徴とする。

Claims (4)
- 同一ハウジング内に上流側の第一排気浄化装置と下流側の第二排気浄化装置とを直列に配置し、第二排気浄化装置の断面積が第一排気浄化装置の断面積より大きくされている内燃機関の排気浄化装置において、前記第一排気浄化装置における下流側端部の周囲を切り欠くことにより、前記第一排気浄化装置の周囲部は中央部に比較して前記第二排気浄化装置までの距離が延長され、前記第一排気浄化装置の前記下流側端部の前記中央部と前記周囲部との境界には、前記第一排気浄化装置の前記周囲部を通過した排気ガスを外方向へ強制的に偏向するための偏向管が設けられていることを特徴とする内燃機関の排気浄化装置。
- 前記下流側端部の周囲は斜めに切り欠かれていることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の内燃機関の排気浄化装置。
- 前記ハウジングは、前記下流側端部の周囲の切り欠きにより短くされた前記第一排気浄化装置の外周面の支持部の直下流側と前記第二排気浄化装置の外周面の支持部の直上流側とを連結するテーパ部を有していることを特徴とする請求項1又は2に記載の内燃機関の排気浄化装置。
- 前記第一排気浄化装置は貴金属触媒を担持した触媒装置であり、前記第二排気浄化装置はパティキュレートフィルタであることを特徴とする請求項1から3のいずれか一項に記載の内燃機関の排気浄化装置。
