Description
この評価試験では、接地電極の表面上に形成された被膜層を異種金属に接触させた場合と、接触させなかった場合とのそれぞれの場合において剥離進行率を求め、比較を行った。まず、インコネル(商標名)600を母材とする接地電極を主体金具に接合した金具組立体のサンプルを作成し、バレルめっき処理にて各サンプルの表面に約6μmの厚さのNiめっき層を形成し、さらに約0.3μmの三価クロメート被膜層を形成した。また、異種金属として、純Pt(Ptを99重量%以上含有するもの),Pt−Ni合金(Ptを80重量%、Niを20重量%含有するもの),Ti,Ni合金(接地電極と同じインコネル(商標名)600を使用)の4種を用意した。なお、腐食電位は、上記した各金属(合金)ではPtが最も高く、次いでPt−Ni合金,Ti,Ni合金,Niの順に低くなることが知られている。

Claims (4)
- 中心電極と、
前記中心電極の軸線方向に延びる軸孔を有し、その軸孔の内部で前記中心電極を保持する絶縁碍子と、
前記絶縁碍子の径方向周囲を取り囲んで保持する主体金具と、
一端部が前記主体金具の先端面に接合され、他端部が前記中心電極に対向する接地電極と、
少なくとも前記接地電極の他端部に接合された貴金属チップと
を備えたスパークプラグを製造する方法であって、
前記接地電極と前記主体金具とが接合され一体となった金具組立体に、Niを98重量%以上含有するNiめっき層を形成するNiめっき層形成工程と、
前記Niめっき層形成工程によってNiめっき層が形成された前記金具組立体に、含有されるCr成分のうち95重量%以上が三価クロムである三価クロメート被膜層を形成する三価クロメート被膜層形成工程と、
前記三価クロメート被膜層形成工程によってNiめっき層上に三価クロメート被膜層が形成された前記金具組立体の前記接地電極を酸性剥離液中に浸漬して、前記Niめっき層および前記三価クロメート被膜層を化学的に剥離除去する剥離工程と、
前記剥離工程によって前記Niめっき層および前記三価クロメート被膜層が剥離された前記接地電極に、前記貴金属チップを溶接する溶接工程と
を備え、
前記剥離工程では、前記酸性剥離液中にNiよりも腐食電位の高い異種金属を配置させ、その異種金属に前記接地電極を接触させつつ前記Niめっき層および前記三価クロメート被膜層の剥離を行うことを特徴とするスパークプラグの製造方法。 - 前記酸性剥離液は、塩酸または硝酸のうちの少なくとも一種を含有することを特徴とする請求項1に記載のスパークプラグの製造方法。
- 前記異種金属は、Ni,Fe,Cr,Ti,Ptのうち、少なくとも一種の金属を含有することを特徴とする請求項1または2に記載のスパークプラグの製造方法。
- 前記剥離工程において、前記接地電極と前記異種金属とは、少なくとも剥離にかかる化学的な反応の初期において接触させている状態であることを特徴とする請求項1乃至3のいずれかに記載のスパークプラグの製造方法。
