Description
上記課題を解決するために、本発明の電気光学装置は、表示光を出射する表示手段と、前記表示手段における前記表示光の出射を停止させる発光停止手段と、前記表示光の出射が停止している期間に、前記表示手段の周囲の外光を受光する受光手段と、前記受光手段により受光された前記外光の受光量を積算する積算手段と、前記受光量の積算値が所定の閾値を超えるまでに要した時間に基づいて、前記外光の光強度を算出する算出手段とを備え、前記積算手段は、複数回の前記表示光の出射が停止している期間にわたって、前記閾値を超えるまで前記受光手段により受光された前記外光の受光量を積算する。
上記課題を解決するために、本発明の電子機器は、上述した本発明の電気光学装置(但し、その各種態様を含む)を備える。
本発明の外光検出装置は、表示光を出射する表示手段における前記表示光の出射を停止させる発光停止手段と、前記表示光の出射が停止している間に、前記表示手段の周囲の外光を受光する受光手段と、前記受光手段により受光された前記外光の受光量を積算する積算手段と、前記受光量の積算値が所定の閾値を超えるまでに要した時間に基づいて、前記外光の光強度を算出する算出手段とを備え、前記積算手段は、複数回の前記表示光の出射が停止している期間にわたって、前記閾値を超えるまで前記受光手段により受光された前記外光の受光量を積算する。
本発明の外光検出方法は、表示光を出射する表示手段における前記表示光の出射を停止させる発光停止工程と、前記表示光の出射が停止している間に、前記表示手段の周囲の外光を受光する受光工程と、前記受光工程において受光された前記外光の受光量を積算する積算工程と、前記受光量の積算値が所定の閾値を超えるまでに要した時間に基づいて、前記外光の光強度を算出する算出工程とを備え、複数回の前記発光停止工程において、前記積算工程は、前回の積算工程での前記外光の受光量の積算値に更に当該積算工程の前記外光の受光量を積算する工程である。
先ず、本実施形態に係る液晶装置の構成について、図1及び図2を参照して説明する。図1は、本実施形態に係る液晶装置の構成を示す平面図であり、図2は、図1のH−H’断面図である。
続いて、図4を参照して、本実施形態に係る液晶装置1の動作(より具体的には、外光の光強度に応じてバックライト131の輝度を調整する動作)の流れについて説明する。ここに、図4は、本実施形態に係る液晶装置1の動作の流れを概念的に示すフローチャートである。尚、本実施形態に係る液晶装置1は、図4に示す動作と並行して、通常の画像の表示動作を行っていることは言うまでもない。
続いて、図9及び図10を参照しながら、上述の液晶装置100を具備してなる電子機器の例を説明する。
Claims (9)
- 表示光を出射する表示手段と、
前記表示手段における前記表示光の出射を停止させる発光停止手段と、
前記表示光の出射が停止している期間に、前記表示手段の周囲の外光を受光する受光手段と、
前記受光手段により受光された前記外光の受光量を積算する積算手段と、
前記受光量の積算値が所定の閾値を超えるまでに要した時間に基づいて、前記外光の光強度を算出する算出手段と
を備え、
前記積算手段は、複数回の前記表示光の出射が停止している期間にわたって、前記閾値を超えるまで前記受光手段により受光された前記外光の受光量を積算することを特徴とする電気光学装置。 - 前記発光停止手段は、前記表示手段に供給される表示信号の帰線期間に前記表示光の出射を停止させることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の電気光学装置。
- 前記受光手段は、前記外光の受光量に応じた電流を前記積算手段へ供給し、
前記積算手段は、前記受光手段より供給される前記電流に応じた電荷量を前記前記受光量として積算し、
前記算出手段は、前記積算手段により積算された前記電荷量が前記閾値を超えるまでに要した時間に基づいて、前記外光の光強度を算出することを特徴とする請求項1又は2に記載の電気光学装置。 - 前記表示光の出射が停止している時に、前記受光手段と前記積算手段とを電気的に接続すると共に、前記表示光の出射が停止していない時に、前記受光手段と前記積算手段とを電気的に切り離す切替手段を更に備えることを特徴とする請求項3に記載の電気光学装置。
- 前記算出手段は、前記受光量の積算値が前記閾値を超えるまでに要した時間と、前記外光の光強度との相関関係を示す相関情報に基づいて、前記外光の光強度を算出することを特徴とする請求項1から4のいずれか一項に記載の電気光学装置。
- 前記算出手段により算出された前記外光の光強度に基づいて、前記表示光の輝度を制御する発光制御手段を更に備えることを特徴とする請求項1から5のいずれか一項に記載の電気光学装置。
- 請求項1から6のいずれか一項に記載の電気光学装置を備えることを特徴とする電子機器。
- 表示光を出射する表示手段における前記表示光の出射を停止させる発光停止手段と、
前記表示光の出射が停止している期間に、前記表示手段の周囲の外光を受光する受光手段と、
前記受光手段により受光された前記外光の受光量を積算する積算手段と、
前記受光量の積算値が所定の閾値を超えるまでに要した時間に基づいて、前記外光の光強度を算出する算出手段と
を備え、
前記積算手段は、複数回の前記表示光の出射が停止している期間にわたって、前記閾値を超えるまで前記受光手段により受光された前記外光の受光量を積算することを特徴とする外光検出装置。 - 表示光を出射する表示手段における前記表示光の出射を停止させる発光停止工程と、
前記表示光の出射が停止している期間に、前記表示手段の周囲の外光を受光する受光工程と、
前記受光工程において受光された前記外光の受光量を積算する積算工程と、
前記受光量の積算値が所定の閾値を超えるまでに要した時間に基づいて、前記外光の光強度を算出する算出工程と
を備え、
複数回の前記発光停止工程において、前記積算工程は、前回の積算工程での前記外光の受光量の積算値に更に当該積算工程の前記外光の受光量を積算する工程であることを特徴とする外光検出方法。
