Description
Claims (5)
- (a) 光線を形成する光源と、
(b) 前記光線を形作り、さらに方向付けるイルミネーション光学装置と、
(c) 前記光線を少なくとも3つの色光線に分離する分離装置と、
(d) 前記3つの色光線の各々のための変調光学システムと、
(e) 結合された中間画像を形成するために、複数の色光線が、共通の光軸に沿いそれぞれの中間画像を形成するような形で、所与の各色のための変調光を再結合する二色結合装置と、
(f) 前記結合された中間画像をディスプレイスクリーンへ画像化する投影レンズとを備えるディスプレイ装置であって、
変調光学システムは、
(1) 前記光線を偏光させて、所与の色の偏光光線を提供するためのプレ偏光子と、
(2) 前記偏光光線を受けて、第1の偏光を有する前記偏光光線を透過し、第1の偏光と直交する第2の偏光を有する前記偏光光線を反射するワイヤグリッド偏光ビームスプリッタであって、前記ワイヤグリッド偏光ビームスプリッタ上のサブ波長ワイヤが反射空間光変調器に面しているワイヤグリッド偏光ビームスプリッタと、
(3) 名目上のテレセントリック光を、前記反射空間光変調器に供給する撮像視野レンズと、
(4) 第1の偏光または第2の偏光のいずれかを有する前記偏光光線を受けて、その上にデータをコード化するよう前記偏光光線を選択的に変調し、偏光状態が異なる変調光および非変調光の双方を供給する反射空間光変調器とを含み、
(5) 前記反射空間光変調器は、前記変調光および前記非変調光の双方を反射して、前記ワイヤグリッド偏光ビームスプリッタへ戻すものであり、
(6) 前記ワイヤグリッド偏光ビームスプリッタは、前記変調光を前記非変調光から分離するものであり、
(7) 前記変調光を受け、前記変調光から残存非変調光を取り除く偏光分析器と、
(8) その色に関する変調光から、反射空間光変調器の中間画像を供給する、各色における画像化リレーレンズとをさらに含み、
前記変調光学システムは、前記ワイヤグリッド偏光ビームスプリッタと前記反射空間光変調器との間に配置され、前記変調光の斜光線を調節するための少なくとも1つの偏光補償器を有するようにしたディスプレイ装置。 - 前記撮像視野レンズが、低応力、または低吸収光学ガラスである、請求項1に記載のディスプレイ装置。
- 前記撮像視野レンズが、アモルファス石英ガラスから製造されている、請求項1に記載のディスプレイ装置。
- 前記変調光学システムは2つの偏光補償器を有し、これらの間に前記撮像視野レンズが配置されている、請求項1に記載のディスプレイ装置。
- 前記偏光補償器は、前記ワイヤグリッド偏光ビームスプリッタ、前記空間光変調器および前記撮像視野レンズからなる群のうちの少なくとも1つに関する修正リターダンスを提供するようにした、請求項4に記載のディスプレイ装置。
