Description
すなわち、磁性膜を成膜して形成したライト磁極を備えた磁気ヘッドにおいて、前記磁性膜が、鉄FeとコバルトCoを主成分とする磁性層と、絶縁層とが交互に積層して形成されたものであって、前記絶縁層が、前記磁性層の表面粗さと同等以下の平均の厚さに形成されることにより、前記絶縁層が不連続膜として形成され、前記磁性層が前記絶縁層で分断されないことを特徴とする。
また、前記絶縁層として、アルミナ(Al2O3)が好適に用いられ、前記非磁性層には、ニッケルNi、鉄Fe、クロムCrからなる合金が好適に用いられる。
また、前記磁性層と絶縁層の膜厚および積層数を調整して、磁性膜全体としての飽和磁束密度が2.2T以上に設けることができ、高保磁力を有する高密度媒体への記録用として十分に実用可能な磁気ヘッドとして提供することが可能となる。
図1A及びBは、磁気ヘッドのライト磁極の構成を示す断面図である。図1Aは平面記録方式によるライト磁極、図1Bは垂直記録方式によるライト磁極を示す。10が下部磁極、12が上部磁極、14がコイルである。下部磁極10および上部磁極12はNiFe等の強磁性体材からなる。
図2Aに示す磁性膜は、基板上にFe70Co30からなる磁性膜20を単層で形成したものである。磁性膜20全体の厚さは1μmである。

Claims (6)
- 磁性膜を成膜して形成したライト磁極を備えた磁気ヘッドにおいて、
前記磁性膜が、鉄FeとコバルトCoを主成分とする磁性層と、絶縁層とが交互に積層して形成されたものであって、
前記絶縁層が、前記磁性層の表面粗さと同等以下の平均の厚さに形成されることにより、前記絶縁層が不連続膜として形成され、前記磁性層が前記絶縁層で分断されないことを特徴とする磁気ヘッド。 - 前記各々の磁性層の下地層として、磁性膜の異方性分散を抑制する非磁性層が形成されていることを特徴とする請求項1記載の磁気ヘッド。
- 前記各々の磁性層の下地層として、磁性層の結晶面の(110)配向を誘導する非磁性層が形成されていることを特徴とする請求項1または2記載の磁気ヘッド。
- 絶縁層として、アルミナ(Al2O3)が用いられていることを特徴とする請求項1〜3のいずれか一項記載の磁気ヘッド。
- 非磁性層として、ニッケルNi、鉄Fe、クロムCrからなる合金が用いられていることを特徴とする請求項2または3記載の磁気ヘッド。
- 磁性層と絶縁層の膜厚および積層数を調整して、磁性膜全体としての飽和磁束密度が2.2T以上に設けられていることを特徴とする請求項1記載の磁気ヘッド。
