カーボンスチールのような鉄金属は、工業的な水系システムに最も一般的に用いられる建築材料の一つである。金属の腐食は、鉄金属が水溶液と接する工業的な水系システムにおける主要な問題であることはよく知られている。全般的な腐食に伴う金属の損失は、システムの構造的な完全性の低下につながり、それは金属強度の低下に起因する。また、被覆下の腐食、熱交換効率の低下、またさらには、流速が遅いか、または幾何学的な制限を伴う各所の腐食生成物の移動や蓄積に起因する、動線の妨害などの他の問題もシステムの異なる箇所に引き起こす場合がある。
我々は、革新的で非常に有効な種類のホスフィン酸系有機腐食防止剤を発見した。本発明のホスフィノコハク酸(phosphinosuccinic acid)混合物は、腐食防止剤として望ましい特性を全て有しており、特に従来の有機ホスホン酸混合物であるPCAMよりも遥かに効果的な腐食防止剤である。ある特定の条件下においてホスフィノコハク酸混合物は、MoO42-、VO33-、亜硝酸塩、HEDP、PBTC、AMP、ポリアクリレート、ホスホノコハク酸、正リン酸塩、ピロリン酸塩、およびグルコン酸塩よりも効果的である。ホスフィノコハク酸混合物は、HPAと同じぐらい効果的でもある。
本発明のホスフィン酸系腐食防止剤は、水系システム、好ましくは、冷却水システム、石油システム、または選鉱システムを含む工業的な水系システムにおける鉄金属の腐食を防止するために用いられる。ホスフィン酸系腐食防止剤の水系システムへの添加量は、0.1から約10,000ppm、好ましくは、約0.2から100ppmである。
モノ:26−29ppm間にピークが1つ;
ビス:30−35ppm間にピークが2つ;および
オリゴマー:29−33ppm間に複数のピーク
本発明の好ましい様相として、ビス付加物は、組成物のリンとして約20から約85モル%含む。
i) 反応混合物を作るために、フマル酸酸スラリーまたは水溶液に次亜リン酸塩を加え;
ii) その反応混合物にフリーラジカル開始剤を導入することにより反応を行う;
ことを含む、モノ、ビス、およびオリゴマーホスフィノコハク酸付加物を含む組成物を調製する方法を導くものである。
他の好ましい様相では、次亜リン酸塩は、次亜リン酸、または次亜リン酸の塩からなる群から選択される。
i) 反応混合物を作るために、フマル酸酸スラリーまたは水溶液に次亜リン酸塩を加え;
ii) その反応混合物にフリーラジカル開始剤を導入することにより反応を行う;
ことにより調製された、モノ、ビス、およびオリゴマーホスフィノコハク酸付加物を含む水性組成物を導く。
本実施例においては、次亜リン酸塩に対するフマル酸のモル比が2.1/1のものが用いられる。メカニカルスターラー、コンデンサー、窒素注入口、およびヒーターが装備された1リットルの樹脂フラスコ中の104.4部の水に、粉砕された無水マレイン酸のブリケット75.9部を加えた。その無水物は40℃で加水分解され、マレイン酸溶液を得た。その後、反応物は60℃に加熱され、臭化ナトリウム溶液(0.16部が0.20部の水に溶解された)が加えられ、すぐに過硫酸アンモニウム溶液(0.43部が1.49部の水に溶解された)を加えた。60分以内に、マレイン酸溶液を183.6部の49.2重量%水中フマル酸スラリーがプロトンNMRにより確かめられた。
ホン実施例では、次亜リン酸塩に対する比率が2.5/1のフマル酸が用いられた。反応条件は実施例1と同様である。下記表に示す生成物は、次亜鉛酸塩/フマル酸塩付加物を含み、リンNMR分析により確認された以下のモル組成物分布を示す。
これは、フマル酸の代わりにマレイン酸を、実施例2と同じ2.5/1モル比で用いた比較例である。これは、フマル酸で得られた結果は予期せぬものであることを示す。1組目のデータは、実験室で上記の一般的な手順により得られた結果であり、2組目のデータは、フマル酸に対するマレイン酸の同じモル比率を用いた工場操業である。
本実施例は、次亜リン酸に対する比率が低い1.75/1のフマル酸を用いる。>30%のビス生成物をもたらさず、より高いレベルの望まない無機リンを含む。次亜リン酸塩に対するフマル酸のモル比率が1.75/1であるような多量の次亜リン酸塩が用いられたこと以外は、実施例1に記載された反応条件を繰り返した。下記表に示す生成物は、次亜鉛酸塩/フマル酸塩付加物を含み、リンNMR分析により確認された以下のモル組成物分布を示す。
本実施例は、フマル酸塩の使用による広pH範囲における工程作業を示す、実質的に中性化された2.1/1比率のフマル酸ナトリウムスラリーを用いる。この場合、約80%のフマル酸カルボン酸は、炭酸ナトリウムの形に変換され、pHは約1から約6へ上昇した。
ステップ1:モノナトリウムホスフィノコビス(monosodium phosphinocobis)(コハク酸ジメチル)
本実施例では、次亜リン酸塩に対するモル比率が2.1/1のマレイン酸ジメチルが用いられた。メカニカルスターラー、コンデンサー、窒素注入口、ヒーター、および滴下漏斗が装備された樹脂フラスコに入った6.25部の水および12.5部のエタノールに、7.325部次亜リン酸ナトリウムを加えた。この溶液は80℃に加熱された。次に、マレイン酸ジメチル20.75部、過酸化ベンゾイル0.86部(70%溶液)エタノール25部からなる溶液を、4.75時間かけて反応フラスコに滴下して加えた。反応混合物はさらに15分加熱され、その後冷却された。減圧下においてロータリーエバポレーターにより溶媒を除去した。
ステップ2:ナトリウムホスフィノコビス(コハク酸塩)
マグネチックスターラー、コンデンサー、およびヒーターが装備された反応フラスコに入った水20部および50%水酸化ナトリウム水溶液55.4部に、モノナトリウムホスフィノコビス(コハク酸ジメチル)34.5部を加えた。反応は100℃に加熱され、2時間その温度に維持された。生成物は、20部の水で希釈され、40.4部の塩酸により約pH6に中和された。
表1−3の腐食速度を測定する電気化学試験
予め磨かれた、MICROSTOP STOP−OFFTMラッカー(Pyramid Plastic Inc.)でシールされパインローテーター(pine rotator)に装備されたカーボンスチール(軟鋼、C1010またはC1008)シリンダーチューブ(長さ=0.5in、外径=0.5in、面積=5cm2)が作動電極として用いられた。電極はラッカーを塗布する前に、600グリットのSiC紙ヤスリで研磨され、アセトンおよび脱イオン水で洗浄され、清潔なキムワイプTM乾燥させた。そして、電極は、浸漬前にペイントを乾燥させるために15分間空気中に置かれた。対向電極は、2つの高密度グラファイトロッドである。飽和カロメル電極または、Ag/AgCl電極が比較電極として用いられた。溶液のオーム低下は、作動電極表面から約1−2mmに小さなルギン管開口を配置することにより最小化された。ACインピーダンス装置は、低腐食速度条件下(つまり、Rp>3000ohmcm2または<7−9mpy)におけるオーム低下は、通常計測された全分極抵抗(Rp)の10%以下
本試験においては、700ml(表3に関しては10.8l)の溶液を保持するテストセルが用いられた。試験溶液は、脱イオン水、分析等級の薬品、および本発明に記載された方法により合成された薬品から調製された。作動電極を浸漬する前に、溶液は空気に曝され、熱的および化学的に安定状態(一般的には〜0.5時間)にした。蒸発による溶液ロスを最小化するために、セルの全ての開口部はゴムプラグまたはサランラップTMにより覆われた。蒸発によるロスは通常24時間で10%未満である。ベンチトップ腐食試験は、明記されない限りは、38°±0.3℃、または48.9°±0.3°で行なわれた。pHコントローラーが希H2SO4またはCO2ガス(CO2は表3に挙げられた試験においてのみ用いられた)を供給することにより、試験溶液のpHをコントロールした。試験溶液もまた、試験中に空気をパージすることにより空気に曝された。
Claims (4)
- モノ、ビス、およびオリゴマーホスフィノコハク酸付加物を含むホスフィノコハク酸組成物をシステムに添加することを含む、水系システムにおける腐食を防止する方法であって、
前記ホスフィノコハク酸組成物が、36〜49モルパーセントのビスホスフィノコハク酸付加物、および、27〜35モルパーセントのオリゴマーホスフィノコハク酸付加物を含むことを特徴とする、方法。 - 前記水系システムが、工業的な水系システムである請求項1記載の方法。
- 前記水系システムが、冷却水システムである請求項1記載の方法。
- 前記水系システムにさらに、鉄金属腐食防止剤、イエローメタル腐食防止剤、スケール防止剤、分散剤、殺生物剤、および工業的な水系システム添加物の1つまたはそれ以上を添加することを含む請求項1記載の方法。
