Description
1.−20℃におけるISO 4675、
2.7500サイクル後にわずかな(タイプ1)表面の亀裂(タイプA)を示す、ISO 7854、
3.50回の60℃洗浄サイクルと50℃乾燥を実施した後で、破壊されずに50%を超える透過率を示す、ISO 6330、
の任意の1つまたはこれらの組み合わせを含むより厳しい可撓性試験にも合格する。
a)硬質成分としての熱可塑性ポリウレタンとヒドロキシ官能性アクリルポリマーの混合物と、熱可塑性ポリウレタン軟質成分との組み合わせ、
b)硬質成分としてのヒドロキシ官能性アクリルポリマーと湿気硬化性ポリウレタンの混合物と、軟質成分としての熱可塑性ポリウレタンとの組み合わせ、
c)単独の硬質成分としてのヒドロキシ官能性アクリルポリマーと、熱可塑性ポリウレタン軟質成分との組み合わせ、
d)硬質成分としてのポリエステルポリオールと、熱可塑性ポリウレタン軟質成分と、任意に、ポリエステルポリオールおよび/またはまたは第2の熱可塑性ポリウレタンなどの追加の軟質成分とをさらに含む組み合わせ、
e)軟質成分としての熱可塑性ポリウレタンとポリマーポリオールの混合物と、硬質成分としてのヒドロキシ官能性アクリルポリマーとの組み合わせ、
f)軟質成分としての熱可塑性ポリウレタンとポリマーポリオールの混合物と、硬質成分としてのヒドロキシ官能性アクリルポリマーと熱可塑性ポリウレタンの混合物との組み合わせ、
g)硬質成分としての湿気硬化性ポリウレタンと、軟質成分としての熱可塑性ポリウレタンとの組み合わせ、および
h)硬質成分と軟質成分の両方が熱可塑性ポリウレタンである組み合わせ、
が挙げられる。
積層体の作製
表VIおよびVIIの実施例1〜9および11の本発明のバリア層と、表VIおよびVIIの実施例1B〜9Bおよび11Bの対応する接合層を、ミネソタ・マイニング・アンド・マニュファクチャリング(「3M」)より商品名「スコッチパーP0860197」(Scotchpar P0860197)で市販される未処理の厚さ0.00197インチ(50μm)のポリエステルフィルムの上に連続してコーティングした。各積層体について、本発明のバリア組成物と接合層組成物の両方は、未乾燥時厚さ0.004インチ(102μm)でコーティングした。バリア組成物は、180°F(82℃)で2分間乾燥させた後、200°F(93℃)で2分間乾燥させ、その後で接合層を適用した。接合層組成物は200°F(93℃)で5分間乾燥させた。実施例12は、接合層は使用せずに同じ方法でコーティングした。室温(25℃)で7日間コンディショニングした後、接合層表面を「KGC 193」(透明PVC)(積層体1の場合)または蛍光イエロー(積層体2の場合)と接触させ、最高275°F(121℃)で90ポンド/線インチ(16kg/cm)の圧力を加えて熱積層した。ポリエステルライナーを剥離して、バリア側を露出させた。ライナーを取り外した積層体は、試験前に室温で2日間コンディショニングを行った。
2枚の2インチ×4インチ(5cm×10cm)の「KGT 193」蛍光イエローPVCを、4インチ×6インチ(10cm×15cm)積層体1のバリア層側の上に置いた。この組立体は、トップダウンまたは外部耐汚染性を調べることを意図している。ボトムアップまたは内部耐汚染性を測定することを意図した積層体2の場合には、2枚の2インチ×4インチ(5cm×10cm)の「KGC 193」透明PVCを、4インチ×6インチ(10cm×15cm)の積層体2のバリア層上に置いた。
3Mより商品名「スコッチライト・プロセス・カラー・シリーズ990」(Scotchlite Process Color Series 990)(レッド990−12およびブラック990−5)および「スコッチカル・スクリーン・プリンティング・インク・シリーズ4400」(Scotchcal Screen Printing Ink Series 4400)(レッド4400−12およびブラック4400−05)で市販されるインクを、硬化した本発明のバリアコーティングを有する積層体1の表面上に厚さ3ミル(75μm)でコーティングした。これらのインクは、室温(75°F/25℃)で少なくとも48時間乾燥させた。次に、インクがコーティングされた面に、鋭いカミソリの刃で網目状に刻み目を付けた。平行方向および垂直方向の刻み目の間隔は約1/8インチ(3mm)であった。3Mより商品名「3Mフィラメント・テープ898」(3M Filament Tape 898)で市販されるテープの1インチ×6インチ(2.5cm×15cm)を、刻み目を付けたインクコーティング面に繰り返し接触させ、5〜10秒ごとに1回の割合で1平方インチ(2.54cm2)部分を素早く接着させた後に素早く引きはがした。「合格」は、インク画像が読み取り可能な状態でテープ上に50%未満が存在未満のインクが存在することを意味する。しかし好ましくは、10%未満のインクがテープ上に存在する。
2枚の積層体1を、バリアコーティングされた面が互いに接触するようにして4インチ(10cm)の部分を重ねた。4ポンド(1.8kg)の重りを重なり部分に載せた。次に、重なり部分と平行に末端部を引っ張って、これらを引き離した。「合格」は、コーティングされた試料を容易にすべらせて引き離すことができ、フィルムは平坦であり歪みがない状態に維持される性質を意味する。
積層体1を25℃で折り曲げた。「可撓性」は、組成物に亀裂が確認できないことを意味する。
一般に、バリア層および接合層の組成物の調製に使用したすべての成分は溶剤溶液に調製した。いくつかの成分は、表IVに示されるようにあらかじめ溶剤に溶解させたものを供給元よい入手した。他の成分は最初に、表Vの第2列に示される成分の所定量を、それぞれ第4列および第5列に示される量のMEKおよびトルエンに溶解させて溶液を調製した。固体成分の量は、溶液中の%固形分に対応している。
実施例1〜6、11、および12について、前述のインク付着試験に従って試験を行った。それぞれの場合で、テープ上にインクは残留しなかった。実施例7〜8についてもブラックの「3Mスコッチカル・スクリーン・プリンティング・インク・シリーズ4400」とブラックの「スコッチライト・プロセス・カラー・シリーズ990」を使用して、前述のインク付着性を試験した。これらのブラックインクのそれぞれについて、10%未満のインクがテープ上に見られた。実施例10はインク付着試験に合格すると思われる。比較例Aおよび比較例Bについても、実施例7〜8と同じ方法で試験を行った。比較例Aは、可塑化PVC 基材とポリウレタンコーティングとを有する市販の物品である。比較例Aのコーティング組成物は、ヒドロキシ官能性アクリルポリマーと、ポリエステルポリオールと、脂肪族ポリイソシアネートと、触媒との反応生成物である。比較例Bは、フーリエ変換赤外(FTIR)分析によると競合する市販製品であり、可塑化PVC基材とウレタン−アクリルコーティングとを有する物品である。比較例Aと比較例Bはどちらも、ブラックの「スコッチライト・プロセス・カラー・シリーズ990」を使用した場合に10%を超えるインクがテープ上に残留し、ブラックの「3Mスコッチカル・スクリーン・プリンティング・インク・シリーズ4400」を使用した場合に50%を超えるインクがテープ上に残留した。本発明の組成物が印刷適性と耐汚染性を兼ね備えるという独特の性質は、これらの組成物の選択的溶解性に起因すると考えられる。以下の表IXは、前述の定義の溶解性に関して、本発明のコーティングを前述の比較例と比較している。実施例1および3は積層体1を使用しており、対照試料はコーティングしていない「KGC−193」透明ビニルフィルムである。比較例Aは異なる可塑化PVC基材を使用しており、比較例Bは未確認の可塑化PVCビニル基材を使用しているが、表面のコーティングの溶解性に関しては基材の違いに有意差はないと考えられる。表IXは、本発明の実施態様の組成物がアセトン、MEK、MIBK、シクロヘキサノン、PMA、酢酸エチル、およびPMに対して可溶性であり、一方比較例AおよびBはこれらの溶剤に対して不溶性であることを示している。比較例のインク付着性が低いのは、これらの溶剤に対して不溶性であることから明らかなように組成物の架橋度が高いことに起因すると思われる。
実施例10を除く本発明のすべての試料について、前述の表面滑り試験に従って試験を行うと、合格であることが分かった。これとは対照的に、コーティングしていないPVCフィルムはこれと同じ方法で試験を行うと、引き延ばされて変形することが分かった。わずかに異なる方法で評価を行ったが、実施例10も良好な表面滑りを示した。
実施例10を除く本発明のすべての試料について、前述の可塑性試験に従って試験を行うと、合格であることが分かった。実施例1〜3および6については、−20℃におけるISO 4675、7500サイクル後にわずかな(タイプ1)表面亀裂(Type A)を示すISO 7854、50回の60℃洗浄サイクルと50℃乾燥を実施した後で、破壊されずに50%を超える透過率を示すISO 6330も試験すると、これらに合格することが分かった。わずかに異なる方法で評価を行ったが、実施例10も良好な可撓性を示した。
実施例12を使用して、本発明のバリア組成物をポリエステルライナー上にコーティングし、組成物を硬化させ、続いて硬化組成物をライナーから剥離することによって、自立フィルムを作製した。実施例1〜9および11も同様の方法で自立フィルムにすることが可能であった。実施例1〜9および11からは、前述の対応する接合層1B〜9Bおよび11Bをさらに含む自立フィルムを作製した。硬化したフィルム組成物は、ライナーから剥離した後の接合層を含まない全体の厚さが約10μmであり、ライナーから剥離した後の接合層を含む全体の厚さは0.75ミル(19μm)であった。
実施例6〜7(バリアコーティングのみ)を、前述のポリエステルライナーで支持したKGC−193ビニルフィルム上に未乾燥時コーティング厚さ4ミル(100μm)で直接コーティングした。これらの実施例は、コーティング方法によっては接合層の使用が必須でないことを示している。
