Claims (4)
- 一の光ファイバの伝搬光を他の1本以上の光ファイバに結合させる光結合部を備える広帯域光ファイバカプラにおいて、
前記一の光ファイバと前記他の1本以上の光ファイバとは、いずれの光ファイバにおいても互いの伝搬定数を変化させる前処理をしていない、伝搬定数が同一の光ファイバからなり、前記光結合部において、前記一の光ファイバが直線状もしくはほぼ直線状に配置され、かつ、前記他の1本以上の光ファイバが前記一の光ファイバに対して蛇行して、または、前記他の1本以上の光ファイバが直線状もしくはほぼ直線状に配置され、かつ、前記一の光ファイバが前記他の1本以上の光ファイバに対して蛇行して、前記光結合部での前記一の光ファイバと前記他の1本以上の光ファイバとの長さが互いに異なり、かつ、その光結合部の長さが、少なくとも2つの特定の波長において前記各光ファイバの伝搬光の光結合度がほぼ等しくなる最小の長さになっていることを特徴とする広帯域光ファイバカプラ。 - 複数本の光ファイバを互いに整列させる整列工程と、この整列工程で整列された前記各光ファイバを融着・延伸して光結合部を形成する融着延伸工程とを含む広帯域光ファイバカプラの製造方法において、
前記複数本の光ファイバは、いずれの光ファイバにおいても互いの伝搬定数を変化させる前処理をしていない、伝搬定数が同一の光ファイバからなり、前記整列工程は、前記光結合部において、少なくとも1本の光ファイバを直線状またはほぼ直線状に配置し、その周囲に他の光ファイバを1本以上巻き付ける巻付工程を備えることを特徴とする広帯域光ファイバカプラの製造方法。 - 前記巻付工程において、前記複数本の光ファイバの全てに張力を与え、かつ、直線状またはほぼ直線状に配置された前記光ファイバに与える張力が、その光ファイバに巻き付ける他の光ファイバに与える張力よりも大きいことを特徴とする請求項2に記載の広帯域光ファイバカプラの製造方法。
- 複数本の光ファイバを互いに整列させる整列機構と、この整列機構で整列された前記各光ファイバを融着・延伸して光結合部を形成する融着延伸機構とを備える広帯域光ファイバカプラの製造装置において、
直線状またはほぼ直線状に配置された少なくとも1本の光ファイバの周囲に他の光ファイバを1本以上巻き付ける巻付機構と、前記複数本の光ファイバの全てに張力を与え、かつ、直線状またはほぼ直線状に配置された前記光ファイバに与える張力をその光ファイバに巻き付ける前記光ファイバに与える張力より大きく保つ張力付与機構とを備えていることを特徴とする広帯域光ファイバカプラの製造装置。
