Description
【技術分野】
本発明は,プリント配線板の洗浄方法に関し,特にボンディング端子等の回路パターンを洗浄する方法に関する。

【従来技術】
従来,プリント配線板としては,図6に示すごとく,基板91の上にボンディング端子92を設けたものがある。このボンディング端子92には,ボンディングワイヤーが半田付け等により接続される。ボンディング端子92の表面に異物99が付着していると,半田付け不良が生じるため,その表面は予め洗浄しておく必要がある。
ボンディング端子の洗浄方法としては,従来,例えば,手又はナイフによる方法,又は紫外線の照射による方法がある。

【解決しようとする課題】
しかしながら,手又はナイフによる方法においては,ボンディング端子の表面に傷が発生しやすい。また,紫外線照射法においては,厚みが大きく強固に付着した異物を除去することが困難である。

本発明はかかる従来の問題点に鑑み,回路パターンに損傷を与えることなく,回路パターンに付着した異物を除去することができる,プリント配線板の洗浄方法を提供しようとするものである。

【課題の解決手段】
請求項1に記載の発明は,基板の表面に回路パターンを設けてなるプリント配線板を洗浄する方法において,
上記洗浄は,ボンディングワイヤーを接続するためのボンディング端子である上記回路パターンにレーザを照射し,一方上記回路パターン以外の外部領域にはレーザを照射することなく行ない,
かつ,レーザ発振器が走査中に回路パターンに到達するとレーザの照射が開始され,
上記レーザ照射におけるレーザ強度は,上記回路パターンの中央部分に照射するレーザ強度は100〜500mJ/mm 2 の範囲内にあり,一方,回路パターンの周辺部分におけるレーザ強度は0〜100mJ/mm 2 の範囲内として回路パターンの中央部分よりも回路パターンの周辺部分の方を弱くすることを特徴とするプリント配線板の洗浄方法。である。

上記回路パターンの周辺部分とは,回路パターンの端部と,その端部から5μm内部に入り込んだ位置との間に存在する領域をいう。回路パターンの周辺部分がその端部から5μmよりも多く内部に入り込む場合には,回路パターンの洗浄が不十分となる。
また,上記回路パターンの中央部分とは,回路パターンにおける,上記周辺部分に囲まれた内側部分をいう。上記中央部分の幅は,回路パターンの幅の広狭により異なる。
上記回路パターンの外部領域とは,回路パターンが形成されておらず,基板の表面が露出している部分をいう。

次に,上記プリント配線板の洗浄方法について説明する。
回路パターンにはレーザを照射する。レーザは,その高いエネルギー出力によって,異物の分子内の共有結合を切断する。そのため,異物を分解して除去することができる。従って,厚みの大きい異物,及び強固に付着した異物であっても,レーザ照射によって分解,除去することができる。
特に,レーザは炭素間に形成される共有結合の切断力が高いため,異物が樹脂である場合に,特に効果的に異物を分解,除去することができる。

また,レーザ強度は,回路パターンの中央部分とその周辺部分との間で異なる。即ち,回路パターンの周辺部分には,その中央部分よりも弱い強度でレーザが照射される。そのため,回路パターンの外周部分に露出する基板がレーザにより損傷を受けることはない。

次に,上記回路パターンの中央部分に照射するレーザ強度は100〜500mJ/mm2 の範囲内にあり,一方,回路パターンの周辺部分におけるレーザ強度は0〜100mJ/mm2 の範囲内にある。
中央部分に照射するレーザの強度が100mJ/mm2 未満の場合には,周辺部分における異物を除去することができないおそれがある。逆に,500mJ/mm2 を越える場合には回路パターンの外周の基板に損傷を与えるおそれがある。

また,中央部分におけるレーザの強度が100mJ/mm2 未満の場合には中央部分に付着する異物を除去することができないおそれがあり,逆に500mJ/mm2 を越える場合には回路パターンに損傷を与えるおそれがある。

また,レーザとしては,例えば,炭酸ガスレーザ,エキシマレーザ,又はYAGレーザを用いることができる。この中,炭酸ガスレーザが洗浄効果が最も高い。また,エキシマレーザは洗浄効果が若干低いが,基板に与えるダメージが他のレーザに比べて少ない。

次に,請求項2に記載のように,上記レーザは,上記基板の表面における回路パターンとそれ以外の外部領域とを予め認識して,上記回路パターンに対してのみ照射することが好ましい。これにより,同一の形状の回路パターンを表面に設けた基板を,大量に効率よく洗浄することができる。
上記基板の表面における回路パターンと外部領域とは,例えば,基板上に設ける回路パターンを記録しておいたCADデータを利用し,該CADデータに基づいて,上記のごとく,レーザ出力のON,OFF,及びレーザ強度の制御を行う。

次に,上記回路パターンは,例えば,ボンディングワイヤーを接続するためのボンディング端子である。この場合には,特に本発明の効果が発揮される。ボンディング端子には,ボンディングワイヤーが接合されるため,特に高い洗浄度が要求されるからである。
また,上記回路パターンは,配線パターン,スルーホールのランド,電子部品を搭載するためのパッドであってもよい。これらの回路パターンも,ボンディング端子と同程度の洗浄度が要求される場合があるからである。

【発明の実施の形態】
実施形態例1
本発明の実施形態例にかかるプリント配線板の洗浄方法について,図1〜図3を用いて説明する。
本例は,図1に示すごとく,基板2の表面に電子部品搭載部7及び回路パターン1を設けてなるプリント配線板3を洗浄する方法である。
回路パターンを洗浄するに当たっては,回路パターン1にレーザ5を照射する。一方,回路パターン以外の外部領域6にはレーザを照射しない。また,レーザ照射におけるレーザ強度は,図2,図3に示すごとく,回路パターン1の中央部分11よりも回路パターン1の周辺部分12の方を弱くする。

図3に示すごとく,回路パターン1の幅Aは,110μmであり,その周辺部分12の幅Bは5μmであり,その中央部分11の幅Cは100μmである。
回路パターン1の中央部分11に照射するレーザの強度は100〜500mJ/mm2 の範囲内にある。一方,回路パターン1の周辺部分12に照射するレーザの強度は0〜100mJ/mm2 の範囲内にある。
回路パターン1は,ボンディングワイヤーを接続するためのボンディング端子であり,Ni,Au,Cu等の導体により形成されている。基板2は,樹脂基板等を用いる。

レーザは,炭酸ガスレーザであり,レーザビーム径は0.05mmである。
レーザは,基板2の表面における回路パターン1とそれ以外の外部領域6とを予め認識して,回路パターン1に対してのみ照射する。

レーザは,基板2の表面における回路パターン1とそれ以外の外部領域6とを予め認識して,回路パターン1に対してのみ照射する。
即ち,図1に示すごとく,上記回路パターン1と外側領域6とは,予め基板情報としてCADデータ52に記録しておく。CADデータ52は,レーザ発振器51を制御するコントローラ53に入力する。

コントローラ53は,CADデータ52に基づいてレーザの照射幅,照射強度に関する照射データを作成する。レーザ発振器21は,コントローラ53が作成した上記照射データに基づいて,レーザ照射のON,強度制御,OFFを繰り返しながら,基板2の上を走査する。

上記走査に当たっては,まず,レーザ発振器21は,基板2の2か所に付されたアライメントマーク81,82を認識する。そして,一方のアライメントマーク81から他方のアライメントマーク82までの間を,基板2の表面を蛇行しながら走査する。
走査速度は,30mm/秒である。走査ピッチPは0.05mmである。

レーザ発振器21は,この走査中において,図1,図3に示すごとく,基板2における回路パターン1に到達すると,レーザ5の照射を開始する。レーザの強度は,図2,図3に示すごとく,回路パターン1の周辺部分12において最小レーザ強度30mJ/mm2 から最大レーザ強度300mJ/mm2 まで上昇する。そして,回路パターンの中央部分11において上記最大強度を維持する。その後,回路パターンの反対側の周辺部分12において上記最大強度から最小強度に弱まる。
一方,回路パターン1の外側領域6においては,レーザは全く照射しない。
そして,次に隣接する回路パターン1に到達すると,上記と同様にレーザを照射をする。

次に,本例の作用効果について説明する。
回路パターン1にはレーザ5が照射される。レーザ5は,その高いエネルギー出力によって,回路パターン1に付着する異物の分子内の共有結合を切断する。そのため,異物を分解して回路パターン1から除去することができる。従って,厚みの大きい異物,及び強固に付着した異物であっても,レーザ照射によって分解,除去することができる。
特に,レーザは炭素間に形成される共有結合の切断力が高いため,異物が樹脂である場合に,特に効果的に異物を分解,除去することができる。

また,レーザ強度は,図2に示すごとく,回路パターンの中央部分とその周辺部分との間で異なる。即ち,回路パターンの周辺部分には,その中央部分よりも弱い強度でレーザが照射される。そのため,回路パターンの外周部分に露出する基板がレーザにより損傷を受けることはない。

実施形態例2
本例においては,図4に示すごとく,レーザの強度を,回路パターン1の端部120から中心部110にかけて連続して変化させている。
また,回路パターン1の端部120においては,レーザ出力を垂直に立ち上げ又は下降をさせている。
その他は,実施形態例1と同様である。
本例においても,実施形態例1と同様の効果を得ることができる。

実施形態例3
本例においては,図5に示すごとく,レーザ発振器が各回路パターン1の1つ1つについて走査する例を示している。
各回路パターン1には,その2か所にアライメントマーク81,82が付されている。レーザ発振器は,コントローラに入力された基板情報,及び照射情報に基づいて,始点のアライメントマーク81から終点のアライメントマーク82まで走査しながらレーザを照射する。

その後,レーザ発振器は,コントローラの基板情報に基づいて,他の回路パターン1に移動して,同様に走査しながらレーザを照射する。
その他は,実施形態例1と同様である。
本例においても,実施形態例1と同様の効果を得ることができる。

本発明によれば,回路パターンに損傷を与えることなく,回路パターンに付着した異物を除去することができる,プリント配線板の洗浄方法を提供することができる。

Claims (2)
- 基板の表面に回路パターンを設けてなるプリント配線板を洗浄する方法において,
上記洗浄は,ボンディングワイヤーを接続するためのボンディング端子である上記回路パターンにレーザを照射し,一方上記回路パターン以外の外部領域にはレーザを照射することなく行ない,
かつ,レーザ発振器が走査中に回路パターンに到達するとレーザの照射が開始され,
上記レーザ照射におけるレーザ強度は,上記回路パターンの中央部分に照射するレーザ強度は100〜500mJ/mm 2 の範囲内にあり,一方,回路パターンの周辺部分におけるレーザ強度は0〜100mJ/mm 2 の範囲内として回路パターンの中央部分よりも回路パターンの周辺部分の方を弱くすることを特徴とするプリント配線板の洗浄方法。 - 請求項1において,上記レーザは,上記基板の表面における回路パターンとそれ以外の外部領域とを予め認識して,上記回路パターンに対してのみ照射することを特徴とするプリント配線板の洗浄方法。
