Description

【発明の詳細な説明】 (技術分野) 本発明は熱可塑性材料からなる管状部材の溶着装置に
関するものである。
本発明装置は管状部材の外側周囲に配置された支持筒
および管状部材の内側周囲に配置された支持装置を具え
る。支持筒および支持装置は加熱装置によって溶融され
る管状部材の熱可塑性材料の周囲を包囲している。
また、本発明は管状部材のビード無し溝無し溶着連結
部の製造方法に関するものである。
(背景技術) 西独国特許(DE−C2)第2923205号には、熱可塑性管
状部材を継目無し連結する方法および装置が開示されて
おり、この特許では前記管状部材の衝合する端部をその
全周囲にわたって前記管状部材を取り囲む加熱装置によ
って可塑化し、この管状部材を圧力下に連結し、この際
同時に支持装置を管状部材の内部に導入する。この既知
装置において支持装置は変化可能な容積を有し、管状部
材の内壁や穏やかに押圧する。
この既知の方法および装置は良好な溶着連結部を得る
のに必要な量の熱可塑性材料を溶融するのに長い加熱時
間が必要である欠点がある。特に、パイプの直径が比較
的大きく、これに対応して壁厚が厚い場合には、極めて
長い溶着時間が必要になる。
本発明の目的は、溶着時間を既知の装置および方法よ
り短くすることができる上述のタイプのビード無し溝無
し溶着を行う装置および方法を提供することにある。
(発明の開示) 本発明においては、加熱装置は少なくとも1個の赤外
線加熱源を具え、支持筒が赤外線透過性材料から構成さ
れていることにより、上述の目的を達成する。
溶着区域はすべての側面において被覆されているが、
赤外線透過性材料からなる支持筒を配置することにより
赤外線加熱源を使用することができるので、溶着時間を
短縮することができる。
本発明の新規な種々の特徴は特許請求の範囲に詳細に
記載されている通りである。
(実施例) 次に本発明を図面を参照して例について説明する。
第1図には熱可塑性材料からなる2個の管状部材1a,1
bを示す。管状部材1a,1bの前端2を溶着するために第1
図に示すように保持する。第1図に示す溶着装置は管状
部材1a,1bの外側周囲に取り付けられた支持筒3、管状
部材1a,1bの内側周囲に取り付けられた支持装置4、お
よび加熱装置5を具える。
加熱装置5は赤外線加熱源6を具え、加熱源6は環状
構造を有し、支持筒3の外側周囲の回りに該外側周囲か
ら等距離離間させて取り付けられている。
支持筒3は赤外線透過性材料、例えば、石英ガラス、
アルミン酸カルシウムガラス、ゲルマニウム酸塩ガラス
又は硫化ヒ素ガラスからなる。支持筒3は一体に蝶着さ
れ、折り重ねることのできる2個の部片から作るのが好
ましい。
支持装置4は圧力媒体によって膨脹させることができ
る弾性を有する袋であるのが好ましい。弾性を有する袋
は管状部材の衝合位置において管状部材の内側周囲に対
して圧力を加える。また、支持装置4は破壊することも
できるパイプ片又はプラグから構成することができる。
赤外線加熱源6は管状部材の衝合位置における溶着区
域内の熱可塑性材料を確実に迅速に溶融する。
第2図に示す管状部材の長手方向Lの所望温度パター
ン20は、第1図に示すように、赤外線加熱源6と管状部
材1a,1bの表面との間に或る距離を維持し、角αが比較
的小さくなる区域において熱線を部分反射させることに
よって達成される。赤外線の波長は、熱が熱可塑性材料
中にできる限り深く侵入するように選定する必要がある
が、放射熱が熱可塑性管状部材の表面又は内部において
熱可塑性材料を破壊することがあってはならない。
環状赤外線加熱源の代りに、支持筒の回りを回動し、
長手方向に細条状又は線状の赤外線パターンを作る個々
の赤外線加熱源を配置することもできる。放射線パター
ンが回動する結果、常に熱可塑性材料の一部のみが周囲
方向において溶融するので、溶着圧力(welding pressu
re)の良好な増強が達成される。回転半径を調節可能に
することによって、管状部材が異なる直径を有する場合
でも、赤外線加熱源6と管状部材1a,1bの表面との間の
最適な距離を調節することができる。
第3図は特に比較的大きい直径を有する管状部材1a,1
bを溶着するのに使用される本発明装置の例を示す。
第3図では、外側支持筒3のほかに、内側支持装置も
赤外線透過性材料からなる管状支持部片7として構成さ
れ、第2赤外線加熱源8が内部に配置されている。第3
図に示すように、第2赤外線加熱源8は中心に配置する
ことができ、従って円周方向に閉じている放射パターン
を作ることができる。また、第2赤外線加熱源8は、半
径方向に調節可能にすることにより、異なるパイプ直径
に対して調節できる回動する赤外線加熱源として構成す
ることができる。熱可塑性材料を外側および内側から同
時に加熱することにより、極めて短い可塑化時間、従っ
て短い溶着時間が達成されるので、比較的厚い壁厚を有
するパイプでもビード無し溝無しで効果的に溶着するこ
とができる。
第4図に示す溶着装置では、管状部材1a,1bの前端2
は互に或る距離離間して保持されている。
管状部材1aおよび1bの端部、ならびに該端部間の空間
10を、外側周囲においては赤外線透過性材料からなる支
持筒3によって覆い、内側周囲においては管状支持部片
7によって覆う。前端2および端部の部分は第1図につ
いて説明したような赤外線加熱源6によって外側のみか
ら溶融するか、あるいは比較的大きいパイプ直径の場合
には外側のほか第3図について説明したようにな第2赤
外線加熱源8によって内側から溶融する。
前端2は3個の側面において赤外線の作用を受けるこ
とができるので熱可塑性材料は極めて迅速に溶融し、次
いで図示しない装置によって管状部材1a,1bを一緒に移
動させ、この移動の際に調節可能な圧力によって必要な
溶着圧を生じさせる。支持筒および内側支持装置によっ
て、溶融した熱可塑性材料の変形は確実に起らなくなる
ので固体の(solid)ビード無し溶着連結部が得られ
る。
全溶着時間を短縮するために、溶着装置に冷却装置を
設けることができ、冷却装置は赤外線加熱源を消した後
に溶着区域を外側、内側あるいは両方の側から、例えば
空気によって、溶着連結部が固化するまで、迅速に冷却
する。

Claims (15)

    (57)【特許請求の範囲】
  1. 【請求項1】熱可塑性材料からなる管状部材をビード無
    し溝無し溶着する装置であって、前記管状部材の外側周
    囲に配置された支持筒および前記管状部材の内側周囲に
    配置された支持装置を具え、さらに前記支持筒および前
    記支持装置によって周囲を包囲されている前記管状部材
    を構成する前記熱可塑性材料を溶融するための加熱装置
    を具える管状部材の溶着装置において、 前記加熱装置は少なくとも1個の第1赤外線加熱源を具
    え、前記支持筒が赤外線透過性材料から構成されている
    ことを特徴とする管状部材の溶着装置。
  2. 【請求項2】前記管状部材の内部に取り付けられた第2
    赤外線加熱源を具え、前記内側支持装置が管状支持部片
    でありかつ赤外線透過性材料から構成されている請求項
    1記載の装置。
  3. 【請求項3】前記第1赤外線加熱源が環状構造を有し、
    前記支持筒の外側周囲から等距離に取り付けられている
    請求項1記載の装置。
  4. 【請求項4】前記第1赤外線加熱源は周囲方向に回動で
    きるように取り付けられており、前記第1赤外線加熱源
    は前記周囲方向を横断する方向に細条状又は線状の赤外
    線パターンを作るための手段を具える請求項1記載の装
    置。
  5. 【請求項5】前記第1赤外線加熱源は前記外側支持筒の
    外側周囲に対して調節可能な等しい距離において回動で
    きるように取り付けられている請求項4記載の装置。
  6. 【請求項6】前記第2赤外線加熱源は前記管状支持部片
    の内側周囲に対して等しい距離において回動できるよう
    に取り付けられている請求項2記載の装置。
  7. 【請求項7】前記赤外線透過性材料は石英ガラス、アル
    ミン酸カルシウムガラス、ゲルマニウム酸塩ガラスおよ
    び硫化ヒ素ガラスからなる群から選択したガラスである
    請求項1記載の装置。
  8. 【請求項8】前記赤外線透過性材料は石英ガラス、アル
    ミン酸カルシウムガラス、ゲルマニウム酸塩ガラスおよ
    び硫化ヒ素ガラスからなる群から選択したガラスである
    請求項2記載の装置。
  9. 【請求項9】前記支持装置は圧力媒体によって膨脹させ
    ることができる耐熱性エラストマー製の袋である請求項
    1記載の装置。
  10. 【請求項10】熱可塑性材料からなる管状材料のビード
    無し溝無し溶着連結部を製造するに当り、 前記管状材料の外側周囲に配置された支持筒と前記管状
    材料の内側周囲に配置された支持装置との間に、前記管
    状材料の互に衝合する端部を配置し、 前記管状材料の互に衝合する端部の前記熱可塑性材料を
    少なくとも1個の第1赤外線加熱源によって加熱し、 この際前記第1赤外線加熱源を前記支持筒の外側に取り
    付け、前記支持筒を赤外線透過性材料から構成する ことを特徴とする管状部材の溶着連結部の製造方法。
  11. 【請求項11】前記管状部材の互に衝合する端部をさら
    に前記管状部材の内部に設けた第2赤外線加熱源によっ
    て加熱する請求項10記載の方法。
  12. 【請求項12】前記管状部材の互に衝合する端部の前記
    可塑性材料を溶融させ、次いで冷却用空気のような媒体
    によって前記端部を冷却する請求項10記載の方法。
  13. 【請求項13】熱可塑性材料からなる管状部材のビード
    無し溝無し溶着連結部を製造するに当り、 前記管状部材の外側周囲に配置された支持筒と前記管状
    部材の内側周囲に配置された支持装置との間に、前記管
    状部材の端部を互に軸線方向の所定の距離離間させて配
    置し、 前記管状材料の互に対面する端部の前記熱可塑性材料を
    少なくとも1個の第1赤外線加熱源によって加熱し、し
    かる後に前記管状部材に軸線方向の圧力を加えることに
    より前記管状部材の端部を合体させ、 この際前記第1赤外線加熱源を前記支持筒の外側に取り
    付け、前記支持筒を赤外線透過性材料から構成する ことを特徴とする管状部材の溶着連結部の製造方法。
  14. 【請求項14】前記管状部材の端部を、さらに前記管状
    部材の内部に設けた第2赤外線加熱源によって加熱する
    請求項13記載の方法。
  15. 【請求項15】前記管状部材の互に対面する端部の前記
    可塑性材料を溶融させ、次いで前記合体した端部を冷却
    用空気のような媒体によって冷却する請求項13記載の方
    法。
