【発明の詳細な説明】 技術分野 本発明は、たとえば流体を輸送する鋼管の外周面にポ
リエチレンなどから成る熱可塑性被覆層が形成されて構
成された管体などの長手体および曲り体の被覆方法に関
する。 背景技術 鋼管の外周面にポリエチレン製被覆層が形成されて構
成された直管体同志または被覆層の施されていない曲り
管体とを、溶接によつてまたはねじなどによつて接続す
る際には、その接続部分付近で被覆層が除去される。接
続後においては被覆層から露出している鋼管を従来で
は、粘着剤が一表面に付着されている合成樹脂製テープ
を巻付けて保護しており、あるいはまた内面に粘着剤が
付着された熱収縮性を有する筒体をかぶせ、この筒体を
バーナなどを用いて加熱して被覆層から露出している鋼
管およびその付近を保護している。 発明が解決すべき問題点 このような先行技術では、作業性が悪く、また作業に
熟練を必要とするとともに、また各作業者毎に気密性の
品質にばらつきを生じる。しかもまた熱収縮性筒体を用
いる際にバーナなどを用い、したがつて危険である。 本発明の目的は、作業性を向上し、各作業者毎の品質
のばらつきをなくし、しかも安全性が向上された長手体
および曲り体の被覆方法を提供することである。 問題点を解決するための手段 本発明は、長手体本体の外周面に熱可塑性合成樹脂製
被覆層が形成されて構成された長手体および被覆層の施
されていない曲り体などの被覆方法において、 長手体本体の外周面にかぶせられ、周方向に分断され
た熱可塑性合成樹脂材料で構成される筒体であつて、 周方向両端部に、軸線方向に延びて外部に突出した一
対の係止部と、 少なくとも軸線方向両端部近傍に設けられる導電体と
を有する筒体と、 筒体の軸線方向に延び、前記一対の係止部を係止する
係止部材とを含み、 被覆層が除去されて露出している長手体本体の部分ま
たは前記曲り体と、長手体本体の被覆層とに亘つて、被
覆層を導電体のある部分に重ねてそれらの外周面に前記
筒体をかぶせ、 一対の係止部を係止部材によつて係止し、 導電体を電力付勢してジユール熱によつて加熱し、被
覆層と筒体とを熱溶着することを特徴とする長手体およ
び曲り体の被覆方法である。 本発明の好ましい実施形態では、前記導電体は、導電
性繊維あることを特徴とする。 また本発明の好ましい実施形態では、前記導電性繊維
は、炭素繊維であることを特徴とする。 また本発明の好ましい実施形態では、前記導電体は、
発熱線であることを特徴とする。 また本発明の好ましい実施形態では、前記被覆層と筒
体との間にホツトメルト接着剤を介在することを特徴と
する。 また本発明の好ましい実施形態では、前記筒体は、熱
収縮性を有することを特徴とする。 作 用 本発明に従えば、熱可塑性合成樹脂材料で構成される
筒体は、周方向に分断され、その両端に軸線方向に延び
外部に突出する一対の係止部を有し、長手体本体の被覆
層に、筒体の両端部が重なるように長手体本体に筒体が
かぶせられる。係止部は、その全体が係止部材によつて
係止される。これによつて筒体の両端は被覆層に密着す
る。また筒体の少なくとも両端部の被覆層に重なる部分
には、導電性が設けられており、したがつてこの導電体
を電力付勢すると、導電体がジユール熱を発生し、筒体
と被覆層とが相互に熱溶着し気密的に接着される。 導電体はニクロム線などの発熱線でもよいが、これが
導電性繊維であれば、少なくとも被覆層と筒体との重な
る部分が均一に加熱され、熱溶着が全体的気密に行われ
る。 また導電性繊維が炭素繊維であれば、炭素繊維によつ
て溶着部分が熱溶着後、補強される。 また被覆層と筒体を構成する熱可塑性合成樹脂の相性
がよくないときは、被覆と筒体との間にホツトメルト接
着剤を介在させ、両者に溶着をより完全なものにでき
る。 また筒体に熱収縮性合成樹脂が用いられると、加熱に
際し筒体が収縮し、筒体と被覆層とがより密着に溶着さ
れる。 実施例 第1図は、本発明の基礎となる構成の断面図である。
流体を輸送する管体1は、長手体本体である鋼管2の外
周面にポリエチレンなどの熱可塑性合成樹脂材料から成
る被覆層3が形成されて構成される。管体1は、もう1
つの管体1aに接続され、対応する部分には同一の数字に
添字aを付して示す。鋼管2,2aは、接続位置4において
溶接によつて気密に接続される。この接続される位置4
とその付近では、被覆層3,3aは除去されて鋼管2,2aが露
出されている。この露出している鋼管2,2aの部分と、そ
の付近の被覆層3,3aとに亘つて、それらの外周面には筒
体5がかぶせられて気密に被覆される。 筒体5は熱可塑性合成樹脂製であり、たとえばポリエ
チレンおよびポリプロピレンなどの材料から成る。筒体
5は、後述のようにして被覆層3,3aにそれぞれ気密に熱
溶着する。 第2図は第1図に示された構成の手順を示すための断
面図である。筒体5によつて、被覆層3,3aから露出して
いる鋼管2,2aの部分を被覆するにあたつては、まず第2
図(1)で示されるように鋼管2,2aの接続前に筒体5を
一方の管体1に挿通しておく。次に、第2図(2)に示
されるように管体1,1aの鋼管2,2aを溶接などによつて接
続する。その後、第2図(3)で示されるように鋼管2,
2aの接続位置4とその付近に亘つて筒体5を配置し、こ
の筒体5と被覆層3,3aとを熱溶着する。 第3図は筒体5と被覆層3とを熱溶着する工程を示す
断面図であり、第4図は導電体の各種の例を示す図であ
る。筒体5の内周面には、被覆層3と重なる長さl1に亘
つて導電体6が設けられる。この導電体6は、たとえば
炭素または金属などの導電性の繊維から成る。 導電体6は、たとえば第4図(1)で示されるように
細長い複数の導電性繊維7が、筒体5の軸線方向に沿つ
て配置された構成であつてもよく、あるいはまた第4図
(2)で示されるように長手導電性繊維8を編んだ網9
であつてもよく、さらにはまた第4図(3)で示される
ように、導電性の短い繊維10が粉末状となつて導電体6
を構成してもよい。導電体6は、筒体5の内周面に接着
剤を用いて接着され、または筒体5の内面付近に一体成
形され、あるいはまた筒体5および被覆層3とは個別
に、筒体5と被覆層3との間に介在されてもよい。 前述の第2図(3)で示されるように筒体5の端部が
被覆層3,3a上に配置された状態で、第3図に示されるよ
うに導電体6の軸線方向両端にリード線11,12または導
電体の端部などを介して電源13を接続し、導電体6を電
力付勢し、ジユール熱を発生させる。電源13には直列に
タイマ15が介在され、導電体6が電力付勢される時間が
設定される。導電体6が電力付勢されてジユール熱を発
生すると、被覆層3と筒体5とが軟化ないしは溶融して
気密に熱溶着することができる。もう1つの被覆層3aに
関しても、同様に筒体5との熱溶着が行われる。 筒体5は、熱収縮性を有するように構成してもよい。
これによつて導電体6が電力付勢されて高温度となつた
とき筒体5が収縮し、筒体5と被覆層3,3aとの熱溶着が
一層確実になる。 導電体6は、被覆層3,3aに重なる部分だけに設けられ
ていてもよいけれども、この導電体6は筒体5の軸線方
向全長に亘つて配置されていてもよい。 第5図は、本発明の他の基礎となる構成の筒体17の一
部の断面図である。筒体17は熱可塑性合成樹脂から成
り、その厚み方向の途中に導電体18が埋込まれた構成を
有する。 第6図は、本発明をさらに他の基礎となる構成の筒体
19の一部の断面図である。この構成では、熱可塑性合成
樹脂製筒体内に前述の第4図(3)で示された導電体の
短い繊維10が混在され、これによつて筒体19の全体が導
電性を有する。 第7図は、本発明のさらに他の基礎となる構成の被覆
層3と筒体20との熱溶着工程を示す断面図である。前述
の構成の対応する部分には、同一の参照符を付す。この
構成では、熱可塑性合成樹脂製筒体20内には、たとえば
ニクロム線などのような発熱線21がコイル状に形成され
て埋込まれている。発熱線21にリード線11,12およびタ
イマ15を介して電源13に接続することによつて発熱線21
が電力付勢されて発熱し、筒体20と被覆層3との熱溶着
が可能になる。 第8図は、本発明のさらに他の基礎となる構成の断面
図である。この構成は前述の第3図の構成に類似し、対
応する部分には同一の参照符を付す。注目すべきは、こ
の構成では管体1の被覆層3と筒体5との各材料が異な
つており、これら被覆層3と筒体5との直接的な熱溶着
時の強度が不充分である場合において、被覆層3と筒体
5との間にホツトメルト接着剤22を介在する。このホツ
トメルト接着剤22は、被覆層3との熱溶着によつて大き
な強度が得られ、またホツトメルト接着剤22と筒体5と
の熱溶着によつて大きな強度が得られる。このようなホ
ツトメルト接着剤22は、加熱によつて軟化または溶融
し、この状態で被覆層3および筒体5と熱溶着して接続
され、冷却によつて固化する。ホツトメルト接着剤22の
ベースポリマは、たとえばエチレン−酢酸ビニル共重合
体(略称EVA)などであつてもよい。 第9図は、本発明の一実施例の筒体23の斜視図であ
る。この筒体23は熱可塑性合成樹脂製であり、周方向に
分断されている。筒体23の周方向両端部には、係止片2
4,25が突設される。係止片24,25は、筒体23の軸線方向
に沿つて延びる係止部材26によつて係止される。この係
止部材26の軸直角断面はC字状であり、係止部材26に形
成されている係止孔27内に係止片24,25が嵌り込んで筒
体23の周方向の両端部が連結される。このような構成を
有する筒体23を用いることによつて、管体1,1aの鋼管2,
2aの溶接などによる接続後において、被覆層3,3aから露
出している鋼管2,2aの部分を筒体23で囲み、その後、係
止片24,25、係止部材26で連結すればよく、管体1,1aに
筒体23を外囲する作業が容易になる。筒体23の少なくと
も両端部には、第4図に示されるような各種の導電体が
設けられる。また導電体を設ける位置は、第3図に示す
ように筒体の内周面または第5図に示されるように筒体
の厚み方向途中であつてもよい。また導電体がニクロム
線のような発熱線であり、第7図のように電源に接続し
て電力付勢してもよい。また第8図に示すように筒体と
被覆層との間にホツトメルト接着剤を介在させてもよ
い。 本発明は、鋼管だけでなく、その他の長手体本体およ
び曲り体の炭素繊維による補強作用などするために被覆
を行うことができる。 効 果 以上のように本発明によれば、長手体本体の被覆層上
に筒体の両端部が来るようにかぶせた後、係止部材が筒
体の係止部に係止され、導電体に電力付勢されるので、
作業性が向上され、また各作業者毎の気密性などの品質
の差がなくなり、被覆層が除去されて露出している長手
体本体の部分およびその付近を気密的に被覆して保護す
ることが可能になる。しかも先行技術におけるバーナな
どを使用する必要がなく、安全性が向上される。

Claims (1)

  1. (57)【特許請求の範囲】 1.長手体本体の外周面に熱可塑性合成樹脂製被覆層が
    形成されて構成された長手体および被覆層の施されてい
    ない曲り体などの被覆方法において、 長手体本体の外周面にかぶせられ、周方向に分断された
    熱可塑性合成樹脂材料で構成される筒体であつて、 周方向両端部に、軸線方向に延びて外部に突出した一対
    の係止部と、 少なくとも軸線方向両端部近傍に設けられる導電体とを
    有する筒体と、 筒体の軸線方向に延び、前記一対の係止部を係止する係
    止部材とを含み、 被覆層が除去されて露出している長手体本体の部分また
    は前記曲り体と、長手体本体の被覆層とに亘つて、被覆
    層を導電体のある部分に重ねてそれらの外周面に前記筒
    体をかぶせ、 一対の係止部を係止部材によつて係止し、 導電体を電力付勢してジユール熱によつて加熱し、被覆
    層と筒体とを熱溶着することを特徴とする長手体および
    曲り体の被覆方法。 2.前記導電体は、導電性繊維あることを特徴とする特
    許請求の範囲第1項記載の長手体および曲り体の被覆方
    法。 3.前記導電性繊維は、炭素繊維であることを特徴とす
    る特許請求の範囲第2項記載の長手体および曲り体の被
    覆方法。 4.前記導電体は、発熱線であることを特徴とする特許
    請求の範囲第1項記載の長手体および曲り体の被覆方
    法。 5.前記被覆層と筒体との間にホツトメルト接着剤を介
    在することを特徴とする特許請求の範囲第1項記載の長
    手体および曲り体の被覆方法。 6.前記筒体は、熱収縮性を有することを特徴とする特
    許請求の範囲第1項記載の長手体および曲り体の被覆方
    法。
