Description
SIMPSON ULTRA-LOW PROFILER、HARTZLER ACXR 、HARTZLER ACX IIR、PINKERTON .018TMおよび本考案の譲受人、Advanced Cardiovascular Systems, Inc.(ACS)によって市販されるACS TENTMを含む。ワイヤ案内型バルーン拡張カテーテルを使用する際に、通常、バルーン拡張カテーテルを患者の血管系統の中に導入する前にガイドワイヤをバルーン拡張カテーテルの内腔の中に挿入し、次にこの両者を案内カテーテルの中に導入して、動脈開口部の中に着座した案内カテーテルの遠位端まで前進させる。まずガイドワイヤを案内カテーテルの遠位端の外に、所望の冠状動脈の中に前進させ、ガイドワイヤの遠位端が拡張されるべき病変部分を越えて延在するようになす。次にバルーン拡張カテーテルをさきに前進したガイドワイヤに沿って、案内カテーテルの遠位端から患者の冠状動脈の中まで前進させ、バルーン拡張カテーテルの遠位端上のバルーンが拡張されるべき病変部分を横断するように正確に配置させる。バルーンが病変部分を横断するように適正に配置されると、比較的高圧(例えば一般に4−12気圧)の放射線不透過性液体をもって、バルーンを一回でまたは数回で所定サイズまで膨張させる。バルーンの膨張後に、再びバルーンを収縮させると、バルーン拡張カテーテルを拡張された狭窄部位から取り出して血液流を再開する事ができる。

Claims (4)
- 細長い血管内バルーン型カテーテルにおいて、
a)近位端および遠位端と、内部に延在する膨張性内腔とを有する細長いカテーテル軸と、
b)前記カテーテル軸の遠位端部に取り付けられ単一の材料から形成される単層の、補強層が編まれたり巻かれたりすることのない膨張性バルーンであって、カテーテル軸の膨張性内腔と流体連通した内部を有し、また4気圧以上の第1圧力範囲内の内圧まで膨張させる際に大きな弾性的な膨張を示し前記第1圧力範囲より高い第2圧力範囲内の内圧においては第1圧力範囲より小さな弾性的な膨張を示す膨張性壁体部分を有する膨張性バルーンと、
を含み、
膨張性バルーンは、結晶融点から約50℃上下の範囲内の温度において熱処理された、放射橋かけ結合された熱収縮性熱可塑性物質によって形成されることを特徴とする細長いカテーテル。 - 膨張性バルーンは、膨張した後に永久変形をほとんどまたは全く発生させることなく弾性収縮により収縮することを特徴とする請求項1記載の細長いカテーテル。
- 第1圧力範囲後の膨張が、第1圧力範囲の末期における膨張性壁体部分の膨張したときの最大径の約25%を越えないことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の細長いカテーテル。
- 第1圧力範囲後の膨張が、第1圧力範囲の末期における膨張性壁体部分の膨張したときの最大径の約10%を越えないことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の細長いカテーテル。
