Description
R-Sx-R-[Sx-R-Sx]n-R(式I)
式中、各Rは独立して、オレフィン(好ましくは、C2~C6直鎖又は分岐鎖の炭素鎖若しくはヒドロカルビル基又は以下に記載されるような他のオレフィン)に由来し、xは少なくとも1の整数であり、好ましくは1~5の整数(又は2~4の整数又は2~3の整数)であり、nは硫化ポリオレフィンオリゴマー又はポリマーが約300~約800、好ましくは約500~約750、又はより好ましくは約600~約750の重量平均分子量を有するような整数である。アプローチにおいて、硫化ポリオレフィンオリゴマーは、約30重量パーセント~約50重量パーセントの全硫黄、好ましくは約40重量パーセント~約50重量パーセントの全硫黄、より好ましくは約40重量パーセント~約45重量パーセントの全硫黄を有する。以下で更に説明するように、本明細書の硫化ポリオレフィンオリゴマーは、3工程プロセスによって作製される。
本明細書の潤滑組成物又はギア流体に使用するための好適な基油としては、鉱油、合成油が挙げられ、全ての一般的な鉱油ベースストックが挙げられる。鉱油は、ナフテン系又はパラフィン系であり得る。鉱油は、酸、アルカリ、及び粘土又は塩化アルミニウムなどの他の薬剤を使用する従来の方法によって精製され得るか、又は、例えば、フェノール、二酸化硫黄、フルフラール、若しくはジクロロジエチルエーテルなどの溶媒を用いる溶媒抽出によって生成された抽出油であり得る。鉱油は、水素化処理若しくは水素化精製、冷却若しくは接触脱蝋プロセスによる脱蝋、又は水素化分解され得る(SK Innovation Co., Ltd.(Seoul、Korea)からの水素化分解基油のYubase(登録商標)ファミリーなど)。鉱油は、天然原油源から生成され得るか、又は異性化ワックス材料若しくは他の精製プロセスの残留物から構成され得る。
他のアプローチでは、上記のこのような添加剤を含む潤滑剤はまた、このような成分及びその量が上記の段落に記載されるような性能特性に影響を及ぼさない限り、1つ以上の任意選択的な成分も含み得る。これらの任意選択的な成分は、以下の段落において記載される。
本明細書の潤滑剤組成物は、流体に耐摩耗性の利点を付与し得る1つ以上のリン含有化合物を含み得る。1つ以上のリン含有化合物は、潤滑油組成物の約0重量%~約15重量%、又は約0.01重量%~約10重量%、又は約0.05重量%~約5重量%、又は約0.1重量%~約3重量%の範囲の量で、潤滑油組成物中に存在し得る。リン含有化合物は、最大5000ppmのリン、又は約50ppm~約5000ppmのリン、又は約300ppm~約1500ppmのリン、又は最大600ppmのリン、又は最大900ppmのリンを潤滑剤組成物に提供し得る。
式中、R1は、S又はOであり、R2は、-OR、-OH、又は-R”であり、R3は、-OR”、-OH、又はSR”’C(O)OHであり、R4は、-OR”であり、R”’は、C1~C3分岐又は直鎖アルキル鎖であり、R”は、C1~C18ヒドロカルビル鎖である。リン含有化合物が式XIVに示した構造を有するとき、化合物は、約8重量パーセント~約16重量パーセントのリンを有し得る。
潤滑剤組成物はまた、リン不含化合物である他の耐摩耗剤も含み得る。かかる耐摩耗剤の例としては、ホウ酸エステル、ホウ酸エポキシド、チオカルバメート化合物(例えば、チオカルバメートエステル、アルキレン結合チオカルバメート、及びビス(S-アルキルジチオカルバミル)ジスルフィド、チオカルバメートアミド、チオカルバミン酸エーテル、アルキレン結合チオカルバメート、及びビス(S-アルキルジチオカルバミル)ジスルフィド、及びそれらの混合物)、硫化オレフィン、アジピン酸トリデシル、チタン化合物、及びヒドロキシルカルボン酸の長鎖誘導体、例えば、タルトレート誘導体、タルトラミド、タルトリミド、シトレート、及びそれらの混合物が挙げられる。好適なチオカルバメート化合物は、モリブデンジチオカルバメートである。好適なタルトレート誘導体又はタルトリミドは、アルキル基上の炭素原子の合計が少なくとも8個であり得る、アルキル-エステル基を含有し得る。タルトレート誘導体又はタルトリミドは、アルキル基上の炭素原子の合計が少なくとも8個であり得る、アルキル-エステル基を含有し得る。耐摩耗剤は、一実施形態では、シトレートを含み得る。追加の耐摩耗剤は、潤滑油組成物の約0重量%~約15重量%、又は約0.01重量%~約10重量%、又は約0.05重量%~約5重量%、又は約0.1重量%~約3重量%を含む範囲において存在し得る。
本開示の潤滑剤組成物はまた、本明細書の潤滑組成物が本明細書に記載される記載の量及びプロファイルを含む限り、他の極圧剤(複数可)を含有し得る。任意選択の極圧剤は、硫黄を含有し得、少なくとも12重量パーセントの硫黄を含有し得る。いくつかの実施形態では、潤滑油に添加される極圧剤は、潤滑剤組成物に対して、少なくとも350ppmの硫黄、500ppmの硫黄、760ppmの硫黄、約350ppm~約2,000ppmの硫黄、約2,000ppm~約30,000ppmの硫黄、又は約2,000ppm~約4,800ppmの硫黄、若しくは約4,000ppm~約25,000ppmの硫黄を提供するために十分である。
本明細書の潤滑油組成物はまた、任意選択的に、1つ以上の酸化防止剤を含有し得る。酸化防止剤化合物は既知のものであり、例えば、フェネート、フェネートスルフィド、硫化オレフィン、ホスホ硫化テルペン、硫化エステル、芳香族アミン、アルキル化ジフェニルアミン(例えば、ノニルジフェニルアミン、ジ-ノニルジフェニルアミン、オクチルジフェニルアミン、ジ-オクチルジフェニルアミン)、フェニル-アルファ-ナフチルアミン、アルキル化フェニル-アルファ-ナフチルアミン、ヒンダード非芳香族アミン、フェノール、ヒンダードフェノール、油溶性モリブデン化合物、高分子酸化防止剤、又はそれらの混合物が挙げられる。酸化防止剤化合物は、単独で、又は組み合わせて使用され得る。
潤滑剤組成物中に含有される分散剤としては、分散させる粒子と会合することができる官能基を有する油溶性ポリマー炭化水素主鎖が挙げられ得るが、これに限定されない。典型的には、分散剤は、多くの場合架橋基を介してポリマー主鎖に結合しているアミン、アルコール、アミド、又はエステル極性部分を含む。分散剤は、米国特許第3,634,515号、同第3,697,574号、及び同第3,736,357号に記載されているようなマンニッヒ分散剤、米国特許第4,234,435号及び同第4,636,322号に記載されているような無灰スクシンイミド分散剤、米国特許第3,219,666号、同第3,565,804号、及び同第5,633,326号に記載されているようなアミン分散剤、米国特許第5,936,041号、同第5,643,859号、及び同第5,627,259号に記載されているようなコッホ分散剤、並びに米国特許第5,851,965号、同第5,853,434号、及び同第5,792,729号に記載されているようなポリアルキレンスクシンイミド分散剤から選択され得る。
本明細書の潤滑剤組成物はまた、任意選択的に、1つ以上の粘度指数改良剤も含有し得る。好適な粘度指数改良剤には、ポリオレフィン、オレフィンコポリマー、エチレン/プロピレンコポリマー、ポリイソブテン、水素化スチレン-イソプレンポリマー、スチレン/マレイン酸エステルコポリマー、水素化スチレン/ブタジエンコポリマー、水素化イソプレンポリマー、アルファ-オレフィン無水マレイン酸コポリマー、ポリメタクリレート、ポリアクリレート、ポリアルキルスチレン、水素化アルケニルアリール共役ジエンコポリマー、又はそれらの混合物が含まれ得る。粘度指数改良剤は、星型ポリマーを含み得、好適な例は、米国特許出願公開第20120101017(A1)号に記載されており、これは、参照により本明細書に組み込まれる。
他の添加剤は、潤滑剤組成物に要求される1つ以上の機能を実行するように選択することができる。更に、前述の添加剤のうちの1つ以上が、多官能性であり得、本明細書で記述される機能に追加して機能を提供し得るか、又はそれ以外の機能を提供し得る。他の添加剤は、本開示に指定される添加剤に加えられ得、かつ/又は金属不活性化剤、粘度指数改良剤、無灰TBNブースタ、耐摩耗剤、腐食抑制剤、錆抑制剤、分散剤、分散剤粘度指数改良剤、極圧剤、酸化防止剤、泡抑制剤、解乳化剤、乳化剤、流動点降下剤、シール膨潤剤、及びそれらの混合物のうちの1つ以上を含み得る。典型的には、完全に配合された潤滑油は、これらの性能添加剤のうちの1つ以上を含有する。
比較の硫化ポリオレフィンオリゴマーを以下のように調製した:第1の反応工程において、液体一塩化硫黄(約73.6グラム)を、撹拌機、温度計、凝縮器、冷却器システム、及び表面下ガススパージャーを備えた反応器に投入した。ガス状イソブチレン(約57.5グラム)を、撹拌しながら、一塩化硫黄液体の表面下で反応器中にバブリングした。温度を25℃又はその付近に維持した。
比較例1の硫化イソブチレンオリゴマーを、以下のようにアルカリ水溶液で更に処理した:比較例1の硫化イソブチレン反応生成物の約1250グラムを、分液漏斗、凝縮液受け器を備えた水冷凝縮器、及び真空ポンプを備えた2リットルの反応器に添加した。約464グラムの50パーセント水酸化ナトリウム溶液を、700rpmの撹拌速度で添加した。混合物を約110℃で約3時間反応させて、苛性処理された硫化イソブチレンオリゴマーを形成した。形成された苛性処理硫化イソブチレンオリゴマーは、1.1076の比重、約0.1重量パーセントの水、及び約43.0重量パーセントの全硫黄を有していた。
別の実施例では、比較例1の硫化イソブチレンオリゴマーを、以下のようにアルカリ水溶液で更に処理した:比較例1の硫化イソブチレン反応生成物の約1250グラムを、分液漏斗、凝縮液受け器を備えた水冷凝縮器、及び真空ポンプを備えた2リットルの反応器に添加した。約209グラムの50パーセント水酸化ナトリウム溶液を、700rpmの撹拌速度で添加した。混合物を約110℃で約3時間反応させて、苛性処理された硫化イソブチレンオリゴマーを形成した。形成された苛性処理硫化イソブチレンオリゴマーは、約1.1155の比重、約0.12重量パーセントの水、及び約43.8重量パーセントの全硫黄を有していた。
比較例1の硫化イソブチレンオリゴマー並びに実施例1及び2の2つの本発明の苛性処理された硫化イソブチレンオリゴマーを、以下のように銅腐食について評価した:銅SAE CA 110アニール2.75”×0.6”×16ゲージの研磨クーポン(Metaspec,San Antonio,Texasから入手可能)を、約35グラムの各本発明及び比較の硫化イソブチレン(ニート流体として)に浸漬し、121℃で約180分間、ASTM D130のエージング手順に供した。銅試験ストリップの質量を、エージング前及びそれぞれのニート溶液中への180分間の浸漬後に測定した。試験後の銅試験ストリップを秤量する前に、それをヘプタンで洗浄し、ヘプタンで湿らせたタオルで激しくこすり、遊離した黒色鱗片状物質を除去した。銅試験ストリップをアセトンで最終洗浄し、秤量前に完全に乾燥させた。銅腐食重量損失(CCT)を以下のように試験から報告した:CCT=試験前質量-試験後質量(mg単位)。結果を以下の表3に示す。
比較例1の硫化イソブチレン並びに実施例1及び2の2つの本発明の苛性処理された硫化イソブチレンオリゴマーを、FVA情報シート#243(S-A-10/16.6R/90又は120として示される)に記載されるようなFZGスプリング試験を使用して極圧性能について評価した。FZGスプリング試験は、FZG研究所、Southwest Research Institute、又は他の適切な試験施設などの任意の数の試験施設で実施してもよい。合格極圧性能は、90℃での基準潤滑剤と比較して、10以上の負荷段階で約115mm2以下の摩耗傷である。
実施例3の潤滑剤A、B及びCを、APIグループIII基油(Yubase 4)及びAPIグループIV PAO基油(Spectrasyn)中の溶解度について評価した。この評価の潤滑剤は、各流体が同量のチアジアゾール添加剤を更に含んでいたことを除いて、実施例3に記載したのと同じ組成を有していた。この評価のために、約3.25重量パーセントの各潤滑剤を室温(25℃)で基油にブレンドし、溶解度を観察した。結果を以下の表5に提供し、図1及び2の画像に示す。
Claims (15)
- 硫化ポリオレフィンオリゴマーであって、以下の工程:
(a)C2~C18オレフィンをハロゲン化硫黄と反応させて、中間体硫化オレフィン反応生成物を形成する工程と、
(b)前記中間体硫化オレフィン反応生成物を、水溶液中で、アルカリ金属水硫化物、アルカリ金属水酸化物、及び硫黄と反応させて、硫化ポリオレフィン反応生成物を形成する工程と、
(c)前記硫化ポリオレフィン反応生成物を、前記硫化ポリオレフィンオリゴマーを形成するのに有効な時間及び温度で、アルカリ水溶液で処理する工程であって、前記アルカリ水溶液が、40重量パーセント~60重量パーセントの前記アルカリ金属水酸化物であり、かつアルコール又はケトンを含まない、工程と、
を含むプロセスによって作製される、硫化ポリオレフィンオリゴマー。 - ASTM D130に従って121℃で180分間、前記硫化ポリオレフィンオリゴマーに浸漬された銅クーポンが、15mg以下の銅重量損失を示し、前記硫化ポリオレフィンオリゴマーの2重量パーセント~5重量パーセントが、APIグループIII基油及びAPIグループIV基油の両方に可溶である、請求項1に記載の硫化ポリオレフィンオリゴマー。
- 前記硫化ポリオレフィンオリゴマーが、式I:

- 前記オレフィンが、エチレン、プロピレン、イソプロピレン、ブチレン、イソブチレン、n-ペンチレン、イソペンチレン、ネオペンチレン、ヘキセン、オクテン、スチレン、αω-ジオレフィン、1,5-ヘキサジエン、1,6-ヘプタジエン、1,7-オクタジエン、分岐鎖アルファ-オレフィン、メチル-ペンテン、メチル-ヘプテン、又はこれらの混合物からなる群から選択される、請求項1に記載の硫化ポリオレフィンオリゴマー。
- 前記ハロゲン化硫黄が、一塩化硫黄、二塩化硫黄、二臭化二硫黄、二臭化硫黄、又はそれらの混合物から選択される、請求項5に記載の硫化ポリオレフィンオリゴマー。
- 前記アルカリ水溶液が、水酸化ナトリウム、水酸化カリウム、水酸化リチウム又はそれらの組み合わせから選択されるアルカリ金属水酸化物を含む、請求項6に記載の硫化ポリオレフィンオリゴマー。
- APIグループI基油からAPIグループV基油までから選択される主要量の基油と、少量の硫化ポリオレフィンオリゴマーとを含む潤滑組成物であって、前記硫化ポリオレフィンオリゴマーが、以下の工程:
(a)C2~C18オレフィンをハロゲン化硫黄と反応させて、中間体硫化オレフィン反応生成物を形成する工程と、
(b)前記中間体硫化オレフィン反応生成物を、水溶液中で、アルカリ金属水硫化物、アルカリ金属水酸化物、及び硫黄と反応させて、硫化ポリオレフィン反応生成物を形成する工程と、
(c)前記硫化ポリオレフィン反応生成物を、前記硫化ポリオレフィンオリゴマーを形成するのに有効な時間及び温度で、アルカリ水溶液で処理する工程であって、前記アルカリ水溶液が、40重量パーセント~60重量パーセントの前記アルカリ金属水酸化物であり、かつアルコール、ケトン又は他のアルカノールを含まない、工程と、
を含むプロセスによって作製される、潤滑組成物。 - ASTM D130に従って121℃で180分間、前記硫化ポリオレフィンオリゴマーに浸漬された銅クーポンが、15mg未満の銅重量損失を示し、前記硫化ポリオレフィンオリゴマーの2重量パーセント~5重量パーセントが、APIグループIII基油及びAPIグループIV基油の両方に可溶である、請求項8に記載の潤滑組成物。
- 前記硫化ポリオレフィンオリゴマーが、式I:

- 前記オレフィンが、エチレン、プロピレン、イソプロピレン、ブチレン、イソブチレン、n-ペンチレン、イソペンチレン、ネオペンチレン、ヘキセン、オクテン、スチレン、αω-ジオレフィン、1,5-ヘキサジエン、1,6-ヘプタジエン、1,7-オクタジエン、分岐鎖アルファ-オレフィン、メチル-ペンテン、メチル-ヘプテン、又はこれらの混合物からなる群から選択される、請求項11に記載の潤滑組成物。
- 前記ハロゲン化硫黄が、一塩化硫黄、二塩化硫黄、二臭化二硫黄、二臭化硫黄、又はそれらの混合物から選択され、好ましくは、前記アルカリ水溶液が、水酸化ナトリウム、水酸化カリウム、又はそれらの組み合わせから選択されるアルカリ金属水酸化物を含む、請求項12に記載の潤滑組成物。
- 前記処理することが、100℃~150℃の温度で1時間~5時間であり、前記処理することが、好ましくは10重量パーセント~50重量パーセントの前記アルカリ水溶液を含み、
前記潤滑組成物において、前記アルカリ性水溶液が、水酸化ナトリウム、水酸化カリウム、又はそれらの組み合わせから選択されるアルカリ金属水酸化物を含む、
請求項7に記載の硫化ポリオレフィンオリゴマー又は請求項13に記載の潤滑組成物。 - (i)工程(a)の前記中間体硫化オレフィン反応生成物が、0.3モル~0.8モルの前記ハロゲン化硫黄当たり約0.4モル~約2モルの前記C2~C18オレフィンを反応させることによって得られ、
工程(b)の前記硫化ポリオレフィン反応生成物が、前記中間体硫化オレフィン反応生成物1モル当たり0.2モル~0.5モルの硫黄、前記中間体硫化オレフィン反応生成物1モル当たり0.7モル~1.1モルの前記アルカリ金属水酸化物を、0.01:1~0.25:1の硫黄対前記アルカリ金属水硫化ナトリウムの重量比で反応させることによって得られ、
工程(c)の前記硫化ポリオレフィンオリゴマーが、前記硫化ポリオレフィン反応生成物を、10重量パーセント~50重量パーセントの、40重量パーセント~60重量パーセントのアルカリ金属水酸化物を有する前記アルカリ水溶液で処理することによって得られるか、
又は
(ii)前記中間体硫化オレフィン反応生成物が、一塩化硫黄、二塩化硫黄、若しくはその組み合わせを、C2~C4オレフィンと反応させることによって得られ、前記硫化ポリオレフィン反応生成物が、前記中間体硫化オレフィン反応生成物を水硫化ナトリウム、水酸化ナトリウム、及び元素硫黄と反応させることによって得られ、前記硫化ポリオレフィン反応生成物が、12重量パーセント~40重量パーセントの水酸化ナトリウム水溶液で処理されて、前記硫化ポリオレフィンオリゴマーを形成する、
請求項1に記載の硫化ポリオレフィンオリゴマー又は請求項8に記載の潤滑組成物。
