本発明のコーティング組成物は、少なくとも90重量%の高い固形分含有量を有し、また、低い揮発性有機化合物(VOC)含有量を有する。実施形態において、固形分含有量は、少なくとも95重量%、例えば少なくとも99重量%である。さらなる実施形態において、固形分含有量は100重量%であり、すなわち、VOC含有量はゼロ(すなわち、0重量%又は0g/L)である。
コーティング組成物は、典型的には自己硬化性である。すなわち、硬化剤成分とエポキシ樹脂成分とが混合されると、さらなる開始プロセス、例えば熱を必要とせずに自己硬化することができる。硬化は、周囲温度、例えば-10~50℃、又は0~40℃の範囲で起こり得る。何らかの理由で硬化速度を加速する必要がある場合には、場合により熱を加えることができる。
コーティング組成物はバインダーを含む。バインダーは、1つ又はそれ以上の硬化性エポキシ樹脂を含み得る。実施形態において、バインダーは、少なくとも1つの液体エポキシ樹脂を含む。これに関連して、「液体」は、23℃及び1気圧(1.013バール)でのエポキシ樹脂の状態を指す。
X1及びX2は、それぞれ独立して、エポキシ環を含むC1~12アルキル又はアルコキシ基、例えばC3~C6エポキシ環含有アルコキシ基、例えばグリシドキシ基から選択される。X1基又はX2基のいずれか又は両方は、ハロゲン化物及びヒドロキシから選択される1つ又はそれ以上の置換基で場合により置換されていてもよい。ハロゲン化物が存在する場合、典型的にはF及びClから選択される。実施形態において、ハロゲン原子は存在せず、さらなる実施形態において、置換基は存在しない。C1~12アルキル又はアルコキシ基中の炭素鎖は、直鎖又は分岐鎖であり得る。実施形態において、X1とX2は同じである。
本発明のコーティング組成物は、少なくとも1種の有機シラン化合物を含み得る。有機シランは、低温での乾燥特性を改善することができ、コーティングの可撓性、基材接着性、及び防食性能も改善することができる。2成分系の場合、シランは、コーティング組成物の部分(A)又は部分(B)のいずれか、典型的には第1のバインダー含有部分(A)に含まれ得る。実施形態において、シラン化合物は、エポキシ基を含む。本発明のシランは、一般に分子量が低く、例えば400g/mol未満である。適切なシラン化合物の例は、一般式(4):
コーティング組成物は、反応性希釈剤を含み得る。反応性希釈剤は、組成物の粘度を低下させる際に溶剤のように挙動するが、組成物の溶剤又はVOC含有量に寄与しない添加剤である。これは、反応性希釈剤が反応性基を有し、これらの基が、反応性希釈剤がコーティング樹脂に結合するか、又は主硬化反応とは無関係に化学反応を経ることを可能にするからである。反応性希釈剤は、典型的には、エポキシ樹脂バインダーよりも粘度が低く、一般に、樹脂の非存在下で機械的に堅牢なコーティングを形成しない。
エポキシバインダーを硬化させるために、硬化剤が使用される。硬化剤は、ポリアミド、ポリアミン、エポキシ-アミン付加物、フェナルカミン、又はフェナルカミドから選択され得る。硬化剤は、架橋剤又はハードナーとも呼ばれ得る。
使用されるポリホスフェートは、アルカリ土類金属アルミニウムポリホスフェート(それらのシリケート及びそれらの水和物を含む)から選択される。アルカリ土類金属は、典型的にはマグネシウム、カルシウム、及びストロンチウムから、例えばカルシウム及びストロンチウムから選択される。ポリホスフェートの例としては、マグネシウムアルミニウムポリホスフェート、カルシウムアルミニウムポリホスフェートシリケート、ストロンチウムアルミニウムポリホスフェート(strontium aluminium polyphosphate)、及びそれらの水和物が挙げられる。これらの組み合わせを用いることができる。実施形態において、ポリホスフェートは、カルシウムアルミニウムポリホスフェートシリケート水和物(calcium aluminium polyphosphate silicate hydrate)及びストロンチウムアルミニウムポリホスフェート水和物から選択される。
コーティング組成物はまた、他の成分、例えば1つ又はそれ以上の補助的な防食添加剤、顔料、充填剤(filler)及び増量剤、チキソトロピー剤、可塑剤、無機及び有機脱水剤(安定剤)、UV安定剤、防汚剤、消泡剤、又はそれらの組み合わせをも含み得る。
コーティング組成物は、いずれかの適切な技術によって調製され得る。
コーティング組成物は、公知の方法、例えば、慣用のエアスプレーによって、エアレススプレー若しくはエアミックススプレー装置によって、又は2Kエアレススプレーポンプによって基材(例えば、鋼構造物)に塗布することができる。あるいは、コーティング組成物が例えばストライプコートとして使用される場合、ブラシ又はローラーを使用して塗布することができる。コーティング組成物は、組成物を予熱することなく周囲条件で塗布することができる。噴霧塗布では、慣用の圧力、例えば3~5バールの圧力が使用され得る。
コーティング組成物は、例えばバラストタンクのコーティングとして使用される場合に、単独で使用され得る。
2成分組成物の各部分(部分A及び部分B)を、表1に示す量で高速分散装置を用いて別々にブレンドした。比較例をアスタリスク(*)で示す。
[2]アルキル第四級アンモニウムクレー(Garamite(商標)1958、BYK Additives Incから入手可能)
[3]Cardolite(登録商標)NC513反応性希釈剤:カシューナッツの殻液、エピクロロヒドリンとのポリマー。エポキシ当量重量は500g/eqである。(例えばCardolite(登録商標)NC513、Cardoliteから入手可能)
[4]エポキシ当量重量が150g/eqの1,6-ヘキサンジオールジグリシジルエーテル(HJ Epiol-DE 202、Kukdo Finechemから入手可能)
[5]フェノール変性液状炭化水素樹脂(CL-50、Kolon Industriesから入手可能)
[6]エポキシ当量重量が236g/eqのグリシドキシプロピルトリメトキシシラン(Dynasylan(商標)Glymo、Evonikから入手可能)
[7]微粉化アミド変性硬化ヒマシ油(Clayvallac(商標)MT、Arkemaから入手可能)
[8]二酸化チタン(CR-828、Tronoxから入手可能)
[9]バライト(一般的なバライト、Sibelco Specialty Mineralsから入手可能)
[10]タルク(一般的なタルク、Youngwo Chemtechから入手可能)
[11]マイカ(Alsibronze(商標)39、BASFから入手可能)

引き剥がし接着試験:コーティングの剥離又は破断に必要な最小引張応力を試験した。試験は、ISO 4624:2016に準拠して、最初に荷重固定具(ドリー)をコーティングの表面に垂直に接着剤で固定することによって行った。次いで、試験装置を荷重固定具に取り付け、試験面に垂直に張力を加えるように位置合わせした。加える力(MPa)を徐々に増加させ、コーティングのプラグが剥離するか、又は事前に指定された値に達するまで監視した。

・周波数範囲:10000~1Hz
・電流範囲:1μA
・測定面積:4550mm2
実施例1~2及び4~7を50℃の淡水又は海水に3ヵ月間浸漬した。浸漬期間の後、EIS測定値を収集し、ナイフ接着試験及び引き剥がし試験を行った。結果をそれぞれ表4、5、及び6に示す。
実施例1~2及び4~7を40℃の海水に15ヵ月間浸漬した。浸漬期間の後、EIS測定値を収集し、引き剥がし試験を行った。結果を表7に示す。本発明の実施例は、両方の試験において比較例よりも良好な性能を有しており、このことは、実験1及び2からの観察を裏付けている。
厳しい腐食性環境(例えば、船体又はバラストタンクが置かれるような環境)にさらされている鋼板のシミュレーションである上記の実験は、本発明によるポリホスフェート化合物の使用が、長期間の浸漬後でさえ、鋼への改善された接着性をもたらすこと、そして、得られたコーティングが、ポリホスフェートを含まない、又は代替的にオルトホスフェートを含む比較コーティングと比較して、より高い電気抵抗(より高いEISインピーダンス)を有することを実証している。このことは、特に長期間水に浸漬される容器又は構造物の一部について、接着性及び耐食性に対する改善された長期的利益を示す。
Claims (15)
- コーティング組成物であって、
・10.0~55.0重量%の硬化性エポキシ樹脂、
・10.0~35.0重量%の硬化剤、
・0.05~10.0重量%の、アルカリ土類アルミニウムポリホスフェート並びにそれらのシリケート及び水和物から選択される1つ又はそれ以上の化合物
を含み、
ASTM D5201に従って測定した場合、少なくとも90重量%の固形分含有量及び/又は少なくとも90.0%の固形分体積を有する、コーティング組成物。 - 前記アルカリ土類アルミニウムポリホスフェートのアルカリ土類金属が、カルシウム及びストロンチウムから選択される、請求項1に記載のコーティング組成物。
- 前記アルカリ土類アルミニウムポリホスフェートが、ストロンチウムアルミニウムポリホスフェート及びカルシウムアルミニウムポリホスフェートシリケート水和物から選択される、請求項2に記載のコーティング組成物。
- 前記硬化性エポキシ樹脂が、2つの芳香族基又はヘテロ芳香族基を含む、請求項1から3のいずれか一項に記載のコーティング組成物。
- 前記硬化性エポキシ樹脂が、2つ又はそれ以上のエポキシ基又はエポキシエーテル基を含む、請求項4に記載のコーティング組成物。
- (a)前記硬化性エポキシ樹脂が、ビスフェノールA型ジグリシジルエーテル樹脂、ビスフェノールF型ジグリシジルエーテル樹脂、ビスフェノールS型ジグリシジルエーテル樹脂、レゾルシノールジグリシジルエーテル樹脂、及びノボラックグリシジルエーテル樹脂から選択され、且つ/又は
(b)前記硬化剤が、ポリアミド、ポリアミン、エポキシ-アミン付加物、フェナルカミン、フェナルカミド、及びポリチオールから選択される、請求項4又は請求項5に記載のコーティング組成物。 - プライマー組成物である、請求項1から6のいずれか一項に記載のコーティング組成物。
- 以下のうち1つ又はそれ以上に該当する、請求項1から7のいずれか一項に記載のコーティング組成物:
(a)前記組成物が、1~15重量%の有機シランを含む、
(b)前記組成物が、1~15重量%の反応性希釈剤を含む、
(c)前記コーティング組成物が、20~50重量%の充填剤を含む、
(d)前記組成物が、10.0~40.0重量%の硬化性エポキシ樹脂を含む、
(e)前記組成物が、10.0~25.0重量%の硬化剤を含む、
(f)前記組成物が、2.0~6.0重量%のアルカリ土類アルミニウムポリホスフェートを含む、
(g)前記コーティング組成物が、1重量%以下の水を含む、
(h)前記硬化性エポキシ樹脂の数平均分子量が、100~2000の範囲内にある、
(i)前記コーティング組成物の溶剤及び/又はVOC含有量が、5重量%未満である、
(j)前記コーティング組成物中のエポキシ当量と活性水素との比が、0.6~2.0の範囲内にある。 - 以下のうち1つ又はそれ以上に該当する、請求項8に記載のコーティング組成物:
(a)前記有機シランがエポキシ基を含む、
(b)前記反応性希釈剤が、脂肪族であるエポキシ含有樹脂、又は1つ以下の芳香族若しくはヘテロ芳香族基を含むエポキシ含有樹脂から選択される、
(c)前記反応性希釈剤が、フェニルグリシジルエーテル、アルキルフェニルグリシジルエーテル、カルボン酸のグリシジルエステル、アルキルグリシジルエーテル、エポキシ化不飽和油脂、エポキシ化オレフィン、エポキシ化ジエン、及びエポキシ化ポリジエンから選択される。 - 乾燥又は硬化した、請求項1から9のいずれか一項に記載のコーティング組成物でコーティングされた基材。
- 請求項1から10のいずれか一項に記載のコーティング組成物を基材の表面に塗布することによって基材を保護する方法。
- (a)前記基材が、金属製であり、且つ/又は
(b)前記基材が、海水又は真水の表面下に長期間浸漬され、例えば船体、船舶のバラストタンク、又は移動式若しくは固定式の構造物若しくはプラットフォームの水面下の部分である、請求項11に記載の方法。 - 前記コーティングが噴霧によって塗布される、請求項11又は12に記載の方法。
- 請求項1から9のいずれか一項に記載のコーティング組成物の上に、さらなる異なるコーティング組成物が後から塗布される、請求項11から13のいずれか一項に記載の方法。
- 前記コーティング組成物及び/又は前記さらなる異なるコーティング組成物が、場合により熱を加えた後に乾燥又は硬化させられる、請求項11から14のいずれか一項に記載の方法。
