酸化防止剤は、原材料(base stock)が使用中に劣化する傾向を減少させる。そのような劣化は、金属表面上に堆積するスラッジ及びワニスなどの酸化生成物によって明示され得る。そのような酸化防止剤としては、ヒンダードフェノール、芳香族アミン酸化防止剤、及び硫黄含有酸化防止剤が挙げられる。

防錆剤又は腐食防止剤もまた、本明細書に記載の潤滑組成物中に含まれ得る。そのような材料としては、モノカルボン酸及びポリカルボン酸が挙げられる。好適なモノカルボン酸の例は、オクタン酸、デカン酸、及びドデカン酸である。好適なポリカルボン酸としては、トール油脂肪酸、オレイン酸、リノール酸などの酸から生成されるダイマー酸及びトリマー酸が挙げられる。
本明細書の潤滑組成物は、1つ以上の粘度調整剤を任意選択的に含有してもよく、流体内に含まれる場合、粘度調整剤は、好ましくは、以下で更に考察するようなオレフィンコポリマー粘度調整剤であってもよく、及び/又は組成物は、約4~約10、若しくは約6~約9重量パーセントを含有し得る。
解乳化剤としては、トリアルキルホスフェートと、エチレングリコール、エチレンオキシド、プロピレンオキシドの様々なポリマー及びコポリマー、又はそれらの混合物、例えば、ポリエチレンオキシド、ポリプロピレンオキシド及び(エチレンオキシド-プロピレンオキシド)ポリマーと、が挙げられる。存在する場合、本明細書の潤滑組成物中の解乳化剤の量は、潤滑及び冷却流体の総重量に基づいて、最大約0.05重量%、又は最大約0.02重量%、又は約0.015重量%未満であり得る。
安定な泡の形成を低減又は防止するために使用される消泡剤としては、シリコーン、ポリアクリレート、又は有機ポリマーが挙げられる。開示される発明の組成物において有用であり得る消泡剤としては、ポリシロキサン、エチルアクリレートと2-エチルヘキシルアクリレートとのコポリマー、及び任意選択的に酢酸ビニルが挙げられる。存在する場合、本明細書の潤滑組成物中の消泡剤の量は、潤滑及び冷却流体の総重量に基づいて、最大約0.1重量%、又は最大約0.08重量%、又は約0.07重量%未満であり得る。
潤滑及び冷却流体は、任意選択的に、1つ以上の流動点降下剤を含有し得る。好適な流動点降下剤としては、無水マレイン酸-スチレンのエステル、ポリメタクリレート、ポリメチルメタクリレート、ポリアクリレート若しくはポリアクリルアミド、又はそれらの混合物を挙げることができる。流動点降下剤は、存在する場合、潤滑及び冷却流体の総重量に基づいて、約0.001重量%~約0.04重量%の量で存在し得る。
本明細書の潤滑油組成物はまた、任意選択的に、1つ以上のモリブデン含有化合物を含有し得る。油溶性モリブデン化合物は、耐摩耗剤、酸化防止剤、摩擦調整剤、又はそれらの混合物の機能的性能を有し得る。
比較潤滑組成物C-1、C-2、及びC-3を、アリソン摩擦試験TES-439(Allison Transmissionから入手可能、2010年11月リリース)及び修正ASTM D8291-21aのシーケンスIX低速プレイグニッション(LSPI)試験に供した。2回の反復のみが報告されるように、LSPI試験をわずかに修正した。以下の表3は、分散剤、酸化防止剤、有機モリブデン添加剤、消泡剤、無灰耐摩耗添加剤、オレフィンコポリマー粘度調整剤、及び基油ブレンドを含む他の添加剤を同じ量で使用して、15W-40流体としてグループIIの基油を使用して配合された比較潤滑組成物に含まれた洗剤系並びに耐摩耗及び摩擦系を示している。アリソン摩擦及びLSPI特性の結果を表4及び5に示す。合格/不合格基準は、TES試験ガイドラインに記載されており、またAllison Transmissionから受け取った摩擦プレートの設定に従うように記載されており、及び/又は上述のASTM試験ガイドラインに提供されている。
本開示と一致する本発明の潤滑組成物を、LSPI及びアリソン摩擦に関して評価した。以下の表6は、分散剤、酸化防止剤、有機モリブデン添加剤、消泡剤、無灰耐摩耗添加剤、オレフィンコポリマー粘度調整剤、及び基油ブレンドを含む、比較例1の比較流体において使用される他の添加剤の同じ量を使用して15W-40流体としても配合された本発明の流体に含まれた洗剤並びに耐摩耗及び摩擦系を示している。本発明の組成物I-1はグループIIIの基油を使用し、本発明の組成物I-2はグループIIの基油を使用して、最終流体を得た。一方、その他の添加剤及び添加量は比較例1と同じである。LSPI及びアリソン摩擦試験の結果を以下の表7及び8に示す。
Claims (15)
- ディーゼル及びガソリンエンジンに好適な潤滑組成物であって、前記潤滑組成物が、
スルホネート、フェネート、サリチレート、又はそれらの混合物のうちの1つ以上からカルシウム及びマグネシウムの両方を提供する洗剤系であって、前記洗剤系によって提供されるカルシウム対マグネシウムの重量比は、約1.5:1~約2:1である、洗剤系と、
一級アルコール及び二級アルコールから誘導された2つ以上の金属ジアルキルジチオホスフェートを含む耐摩耗及び摩擦系であって、第1の金属ジアルキルジチオホスフェートは、一級アルコールから誘導され、第2の金属ジアルキルジチオホスフェートは、一級アルコールと二級アルコールとの混合物から誘導され、前記耐摩耗及び摩擦系において組み合わされた前記2つ以上の金属ジアルキルジチオホスフェートからの一級アルコール対二級アルコールの重量比は、少なくとも約3:1~約5.5:1である、耐摩耗及び摩擦系と、を含み、
前記洗剤系からのマグネシウムの量が、前記潤滑組成物に基づいて少なくとも500ppmのマグネシウムであり、
前記耐摩耗及び摩擦系からのリンの量が、前記潤滑組成物に基づいて1200ppm未満のリンであり、前記耐摩耗及び摩擦系からの亜鉛の量が、前記潤滑組成物に基づいて1000ppm未満の亜鉛である、潤滑組成物。 - 前記洗剤系によって提供される前記カルシウムが、石炭酸カルシウム、スルホン酸カルシウム、若しくはそれらの混合物のうちの1つ以上によって、約900~約1500ppmのカルシウムを提供する量で、提供されるか、又は前記洗剤系が、約50~約70重量パーセントの石炭酸カルシウム、約30~約40重量パーセントのスルホン酸マグネシウム、及び0~約10重量パーセントのスルホン酸カルシウムを含むか、又は前記洗剤系が、20~80のニートの全アルカリ価を有するスルホン酸カルシウムを含むか、又は前記洗剤系が、300~450のニートの全アルカリ価を有する石炭酸カルシウム、及び約500~約700のニートの全アルカリ価を有するスルホン酸マグネシウムを含むか、又は前記潤滑組成物が、2回の反復を使用するASTM D8291-21aに準拠したシーケンスIX低速プレイグニッション試験に準拠して、5回以下の平均イベント数を示す、請求項1に記載の潤滑組成物。
- 前記洗剤系が、約60~約70重量パーセントの前記石炭酸カルシウム、約32~約38重量パーセントの前記スルホン酸マグネシウム、及び約1~約4重量パーセントの前記スルホン酸カルシウムを含む、請求項2に記載の潤滑組成物。
- 前記スルホン酸カルシウムが、50未満の全アルカリ価を有する、請求項3に記載の潤滑組成物。
- 前記耐摩耗及び摩擦系が、2つの亜鉛ジアルキルジチオホスフェートを含むか、又は前記耐摩耗及び摩擦系が、過半量の一級アルコールから誘導された1つ以上の亜鉛ジアルキルジチオホスフェート添加剤を含む、請求項1に記載の潤滑組成物。
- 前記耐摩耗及び摩擦系が、一級アルコールから誘導された第1の亜鉛ジアルキルジチオホスフェート及び一級アルコールと二級アルコールとの混合物から誘導された第2の亜鉛ジアルキルジチオホスフェートを含む、請求項5に記載の潤滑組成物。
- 前記耐摩耗及び摩擦系が、一級アルコールから誘導された最大約60重量パーセントの前記第1の亜鉛ジアルキルジチオホスフェート、及び一級アルコールと二級アルコールとの混合物から誘導された約40~約50重量パーセントの前記第2の亜鉛ジアルキルジチオホスフェートを含む、請求項6に記載の潤滑組成物。
- 一級アルコールと二級アルコールとの混合物から誘導された前記第2の亜鉛ジアルキルジチオホスフェートが、約50~約70重量パーセントの一級アルコール及び約30~約50重量パーセントの二級アルコールから誘導されたものである、請求項7に記載の潤滑組成物。
- ディーゼル及びガソリンエンジンに好適な潤滑組成物であって、前記潤滑組成物が、
スルホネート、フェネート、サリチレート、又はそれらの混合物のうちの1つ以上からカルシウム及びマグネシウムの両方を提供する洗剤系であって、前記洗剤系によって提供されるカルシウム対マグネシウムの重量比は、約1.5:1~約2:1である、洗剤系と、

前記耐摩耗及び摩擦系からのリンの量が、前記潤滑組成物に基づいて1200ppm未満のリンであり、前記耐摩耗及び摩擦系からの亜鉛の量が、前記潤滑組成物に基づいて1000ppm未満の亜鉛であり、
前記潤滑組成物が、2回の反復を使用するASTM D8291-21aに準拠したシーケンスIX低速プレイグニッション試験に準拠して、5回以下の平均イベント数を示し、

- 前記洗剤系が、約60~約70重量パーセントの前記石炭酸カルシウム、約32~約38重量パーセントの前記スルホン酸マグネシウム、及び約1~約4重量パーセントの前記スルホン酸カルシウムを含む、請求項11に記載の方法。
- 前記スルホン酸カルシウムが、50未満の全アルカリ価を有する、請求項12に記載の方法。
- 前記耐摩耗及び摩擦系が、一級アルコールから誘導された第1の亜鉛ジアルキルジチオホスフェート及び一級アルコールと二級アルコールとの混合物から誘導された第2の亜鉛ジアルキルジチオホスフェートを含むか、又は前記耐摩耗及び摩擦系が、過半量の一級アルコールから誘導された1つ以上の亜鉛ジアルキルジチオホスフェート添加剤を含む、請求項10に記載の方法。
- 前記耐摩耗及び摩擦系が、一級アルコールから誘導された最大約60重量パーセントの第1の亜鉛ジアルキルジチオホスフェート、及び一級アルコールと二級アルコールとの混合物から誘導された約40~約50重量パーセントの第2の亜鉛ジアルキルジチオホスフェートを含むか、又は一級アルコールと二級アルコールとの混合物から誘導された前記第2の亜鉛ジアルキルジチオホスフェートが、約50~約70重量パーセントの一級アルコール及び約30~約50重量パーセントの二級アルコールから誘導されたものである、請求項14に記載の方法。
