カーボンナノチューブを形成するための現在の方法は、反応してカーボンナノチューブと水素を形成する炭素質源として高価な市販級の天然ガス(主にメタンおよび幾らかのエタン、ブタンおよびプロパン)に依存している。石油-ガス採取、製油所、化学プラント、石炭産業および埋め立て地のような廉価な炭素質源から採取し、そしてカーボンナノチューブのようなより高価な製品および水素ガスに転換するシステムおよびプロセスを有することが有利になる。
Claims (11)
- カーボンナノチューブの製造法であって:
(i)炭素質ガスを含んでなるフレアガスを得;
(ii)フレアガスを処理し;
(iii)フレアガス、触媒および水素の混合物を反応槽に導入し、ここで反応槽は触媒の存在下で炭素質ガスを炭素質ガスの構成原子に分解するために十分な温度であり、そしてここで構成原子は炭素原子および水素原子を含んでなり;
(iv)炭素質ガスの炭素原子を触媒と相互作用させてカーボンナノチューブを生成し;そして
(v)カーボンナノチューブを回収する
ことを含んでなる前記方法。 - フレアガスが石油またはガス製造現場、製油所、化学プラント、石炭プラントまたは埋め立て地から得られる、請求項1に記載の方法。
- フレアガスを処理する工程が、フレアガスを、過剰な硫化水素、二酸化炭素および/または一酸化炭素の少なくとも一部をフレアガスから除去するための1もしくは複数のプロセスに供することを含んでなる、請求項1に記載の方法。
- フレアガスを処理する工程が、(i)フレアガス中の過剰な硫化水素の少なくとも一部を硫黄に電気化学的に還元し、その後それを除去すること、および(ii)フレアガス中の過剰な二硫化水素の少なくとも一部を硫酸に酸化し、そして除去することの、少なくとも1つを含んでなる、請求項3に記載の方法。
- フレアガス中の過剰な一酸化炭素および/または二酸化炭素の少なくとも一部が、フレアガスから除かれる、請求項3に記載の方法。
- 触媒がフェロセンである、請求項1に記載の方法。
- カーボンナノチューブを形成するための触媒と相互作用しなかった炭素質ガスを含む混合物の一部が、任意に追加量の天然ガスまたは処理済みまたは未処理のフレアガスと共に、第2反応槽へ送られる、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 触媒量が混合物から回収され、そして次に再生され、そして任意に新たな触媒量と共に、第2反応槽へ導入されるか、または後に使用するために貯蔵される、請求項7に記載の方法。
- 触媒が、(i)触媒を空気中で酸化しおよび/または電気化学的処理により触媒を剥離し、触媒を塩酸に溶解して、塩酸塩を形成し、次いで塩酸塩をシクロペンタジエニドナトリウムと反応させる;および(ii)触媒を少なくとも2000℃に加熱して触媒を揮発させ、次いで揮発した触媒を沈着させること、の少なくとも1つにより再生される、請求項8に記載の方法。
- 炭素質ガスの分解から形成される水素が分離され、そして貯蔵または転売のために回収されるか、反応槽を加熱するための燃料として使用されるか、および/または別の反応槽へ導入されるのいずれかである、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 工程(v)で回収されるカーボンナノチューブが1mmから約50mmの範囲、またはより好ましくは約25mmの長さを有する短いカーボンナノチューブファイバーの形態になるように、反応槽から出る前に反応槽内で形成されるカーボンナノチューブが、(i)1もしくは複数の高速ジェットガス、(ii)1もしくは複数の回転インペラ、(iii)テクスチャー表面をわたるガス流、および/または(iv)鈍器の配列による衝撃に供される、請求項1に記載の方法。
