に対する、天然ガスとして知られる燃料混合物に通常存在する高い沸点の成分および汚染物質の蓄積に起因し、それらが次に繰り返しの加圧-減圧の結果として多孔質の燃料貯蔵吸着剤に蓄積すると考えられる。吸着剤の当業者によって容易に理解されるように、小さい大きさの細孔の方が、大きいエネルギーまたは吸着強度を有するとさらに考えられる。過度に小さい細孔から離れて歪んでいる細孔体積の吸着剤は、こうした高い沸点の成分の蓄積が少ない傾向があり、したがって、その可逆的容量は、繰り返しの燃料補給に関してより耐久性があるとここで主張される。実施例で使用した試験用のガスは、北米の天然ガスの一般的な分析と似ているが、メタンより高い沸点を持つ成分の濃度が顕著に高いため、組成は様々である(North American Energy Standards Boardの天然ガス仕様書、www.naesb.org/pdf2/wgq_bps100605w2.pdfを参照)ことに留意されたい。それ故、可逆的容量の喪失は天然ガスの組成に依存している可能性があり、相対的に耐久性のある吸着剤が、相対的に耐久性の低い吸着剤と比較して、信頼性のある燃料貯蔵容量を有することは明らかである(その有用な回復可能な貯蔵容量は、燃料の組成による変動が少ないまたは影響を受けにくい)。
きさの細孔の体積を最大にすることから得られる可逆的容量以外に、凝縮相を形成するには大きすぎると理解されている、細孔における内部圧縮ガスからの可逆的容量の増大という利点を得る。図14によれば、これらの相対的に大きな27~490Åの大きさのメソポアの体積は、9Åより小さい大きさのマイクロ細孔の体積が100cc/L-モノリス未満の範囲にあるとき、50cc/L-モノリスを超える。

Claims (41)
- ガスを貯蔵する方法であって、
前記ガスを、≦40lb/GGEの作業重量分析容量および/または≦35L/GGEの体積分析容量を有する少なくとも1つの多孔質ガス吸蔵モノリスを含むガス貯蔵システムと接触させること
を含む方法。 - 前記多孔質ガス吸蔵モノリスが、
約9Åの大きさより小さい細孔における<約100cc/L-Mの体積、
約9~27Åの大きさの細孔における>約200cc/L-Mの体積、
約27~490Åの大きさの細孔における>約50cc/L-Mの体積、
少なくとも0.4g/ccの部分密度、または
それらの組み合わせ
の少なくとも1つを有する、請求項1に記載の方法。 - 前記作業重量分析容量が≦40lb/GGEである、請求項1または2に記載の方法。

- 前記フルオロポリマーが、ポリ(ビニリデンジフルオリド)、ポリテトラフルオロエチレン、フッ素化エチレンプロピレン、ペルフルオロアルコキシアルカン、またはそれらの組み合わせの少なくとも1つである、請求項6に記載の方法。
- 前記ポリアミドが、ナイロン-6,6’、ナイロン-6、ナイロン6,12、またはそれらの組み合わせの少なくとも1つである、請求項6に記載の方法。
- 前記結合剤が10wt%以下の量で存在する、
前記ガス吸着材料が少なくとも90wt%の量で存在する、
前記非水性結合剤が、前記結合剤の約50wt%~約70wt%の分散液である、または

- 前記ポリアミドが、ナイロン-6,6’、ナイロン-6、およびナイロン6,12からなる群から選択される少なくとも1つのポリアミドである、請求項16に記載のモノリス。
- 前記非水性結合剤が10wt%以下の量で存在する、請求項15~18のいずれかに記載の物品。
- 前記ガス吸着材料が少なくとも90wt%の量で存在する、請求項14~19のいずれかに記載のモノリス。
