Claims (20)

前記第1の基体及び前記第2の基体との間に空洞を画定するように位置決めされた1次シールと、
前記空洞内に配置された電気光学媒体であって、当該電気光学媒体は当該電気光学媒体が概して明るい状態と暗い状態との間で動作可能なように可変透過性である、電気光学媒体と、
前記第1の導電層と前記電気光学媒体との間に配置されたポリマーバリヤと、
を備え、
前記第1の実質的に透明な基体と前記第2の実質的に透明な基体の少なくとも一方は、ポリマーを含む
ことを特徴とする電気光学素子。 - 前記ポリマーバリヤは、ガス透過に耐えるように構成されている
ことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の電気光学素子。 - 前記ポリマーバリヤは、酸素の透過に耐えるように構成されている
ことを特徴とする請求項1または2に記載の電気光学素子。 - 前記第1の基体及び前記第2の基体の両方が、ポリマーを含む
ことを特徴とする請求項1乃至3のいずれかに記載の電気光学素子。 - 前記第1の基体及び前記第2の基体の少なくとも一方が、耐湿性ポリマーを含む
ことを特徴とする請求項1乃至4のいずれかに記載の電気光学素子。 - 前記ポリマーバリヤは、導電性材料でドープされている
ことを特徴とする請求項1乃至5のいずれかに記載の電気光学素子。 - 前記導電性材料は、酸化インジウムスズ、ドープ酸化スズ、亜鉛酸化物、カーボンナノチューブ、ナノファイバー、及び金属、のうちの少なくとも1つを含む
ことを特徴とする請求項6に記載の電気光学素子。 - 前記導電性材料は、複数のナノスケールの粒子または繊維として構成されている
ことを特徴とする請求項6または7に記載の電気光学素子。 - 前記ポリマーバリヤは、約6%未満のヘイズを有する
ことを特徴とする請求項1乃至8のいずれかに記載の電気光学素子。 - その対向面上に配置された第1の表面と第2の表面とを有する第1の実質的に透明な基体と、
その対向面上に配置された第3の表面と第4の表面とを有する第2の実質的に透明な基体と、
前記第1の基体及び前記第2の基体の周囲に配置された1次シールと、
前記第1の実質的に透明な基体と前記第2の実質的に透明な基体との間に位置決めされた電気光学媒体と、
前記第1の基体及び前記第2の基体の少なくとも一方と前記電気光学媒体との間に位置決めされたバリヤと、
を備え、
前記第1の実質的に透明な基体及び前記第2の実質的に透明な基体は、耐湿性ポリマーを含み、
前記バリヤは、前記1次シールの外側縁の内側に位置決めされている
ことを特徴とする電気光学素子。 - 前記耐湿性ポリマーは、シクロオレフィン、ポリエチレンテレフタレート、ポリエチレンナフタレート、及びポリイミド、のうちの少なくとも1つを含む

前記ポリマーバリヤは、ガス透過に耐えるように構成されている
