Claims (28)
- 装置であって、
組成物を備え、この組成物は、
エチレンアクリル酸コポリマー、
中和基剤、及び、
水を有し、前記エチレンアクリル酸コポリマーが前記水の約15重量パーセント乃至約45重量パーセントの濃度で存在し、
さらに、この組成物で被覆された金属を備える装置。 - 請求項1の装置において、前記エチレンアクリル酸コポリマーが、約20.5パーセントのアクリル酸含量を有する装置。
- 請求項1の装置において、アクリル酸官能基の約25乃至約100モルパーセントが水酸化アンモニウムを用いて中和される装置。

- 請求項6の装置において、前記水酸化アンモニウムが前記アクリル酸官能基の約30モルパーセントを中和し、前記水酸化ナトリウムが前記アクリル酸官能基の約40モルパーセントを中和する装置。
- 請求項1の装置において、前記エチレンアクリル酸コポリマーが、分散液の15重量パーセント濃度である装置。
- 請求項1の装置において、前記エチレンアクリル酸コポリマーが、分散液の45重量パーセントの濃度である装置。
- 請求項1の装置において、1乃至70重量パーセントの顔料対エチレンアクリル酸コポリマーの濃度を有する顔料を更に含む装置。
- 請求項1の装置において、1乃至50重量パーセントのワックス対エチレンアクリル酸コポリマーの濃度を有するワックスを更に含む装置。
- 請求項11の装置において、前記ワックスがカルナウバワックスである装置。
- 請求項12の装置において、前記カルナウバワックスが、全コーティング固形分に対して約10重量パーセントの濃度である装置。
- 請求項1の装置において、前記エチレンアクリル酸コポリマーが、Primacor 5980Iである装置。
- 請求項14の装置において、中性塩基が、Primacor 5980Iのアクリル酸官能基の約35モルパーセント乃至約45モルパーセントをイオノマー化する水酸化ナトリウム又は水酸化カリウムを含む装置。
- 請求項1の装置において、前記組成物が、タイ層コーティング、カラーコーティング、オーバーワニスコーティング、又は内側ラッカーコーティングのうちの1つ以上に使用される装置。
- エチレンアクリル酸コポリマーを水と15乃至45重量パーセントの濃度で混合し、塩基を添加して25乃至100モルパーセントのアクリル酸官能基を中和し、この混合物を攪拌しながら加熱して分散液を形成することを含む組成物を製造し、
この組成物を金属に施すことを含む方法。 - 請求項17の方法において、前記混合物を110℃に加熱する方法。
- 請求項17の方法において、顔料を前記エチレンアクリル酸コポリマー及び水分散液に、エチレンアクリル酸コポリマーに対して1乃至70重量パーセントの顔料の濃度で混合することを更に含む方法。
- 請求項17の方法において、ワックスを前記エチレンアクリル酸コポリマー及び水分散液に、エチレンアクリル酸コポリマーに対して1乃至50重量パーセントのワックスの濃度で混合することを更に含む方法。
- 請求項17の方法において、前記エチレンアクリル酸コポリマーが約20.5パーセントのアクリル酸含量を含む方法。
- 請求項17の方法において、水酸化アンモニウム及び水酸化ナトリウムの任意の組み合わせを用いてアクリル酸官能基の25乃至100モルパーセントを中和することを更に含む方法。
- 請求項22の方法において、前記水酸化アンモニウムが前記アクリル酸官能基の約30モルパーセントを中和し、前記水酸化ナトリウムが前記アクリル酸官能基の約40モルパーセントを中和する方法。
- 金属基板を第1のコーティング組成物でコーティングし、第1のコーティング組成物は、中和されたアクリル酸官能基の25乃至100モルパーセントを有する水分散液中に15乃至45重量パーセントのエチレンアクリル酸コポリマーを含み、
約75°F(23.89℃)から約150°F(65.56℃)と約250°F(121.11℃)との間の温度へ前記金属基板を加熱することにより、前記金属基板上の第1のコーティング組成物を硬化させることを含む方法。 - 請求項24の方法において、前記金属基板を第2のコーティング組成物でコーティングすることを更に含み、第2のコーティング組成物は、中和された前記前記アクリル酸官能基の25乃至100モルパーセントを有する水分散液に対して15乃至45重量パーセントのエチレンアクリル酸コポリマーと、前記エチレンアクリル酸コポリマーに対して1と70との間の重量パーセントの顔料の濃度を有する顔料とを含む方法。
- 請求項24の方法において、前記金属基板を第3のコーティング組成物でコーティングすることを更に含み、第3のコーティング組成物は、中和された前記アクリル酸官能基の25乃至100モルパーセントを有する水分散液に対して15乃至45重量パーセントのエチレンアクリル酸コポリマーと、エチレンアクリル酸コポリマーに対して1と50との間の重量パーセントのワックスの濃度を有するワックスとを含む方法。
- 請求項24の方法において、揮発性有機化合物(VOC)を含まない前記金属基板に施された全てのコーティングを更に含む方法。
- 請求項24の方法において、前記金属基板にBPA非意図(NT)状態で施された全てのコーティングを更に含む方法。
