該ポリマーを、該溶離液中の1.5mg/mL濃厚溶液として使用した。100μL注入ループ中への注入前に、全ての試料を、Millipore IC Millex-LG(0.2μm)フィルターに通してろ過した。
その較正を、900〜1100000g/モルの分子量を有するPSS Polymer Standards Service製の狭いポリアクリル酸ナトリウム塩試料並びに1770g/モル及び900g/モルの分子量を有するAmerican Polymer Standards Corporation製のポリアクリル酸試料を用いて実施した。この区間の外側の値は外挿された。Mnの計算のために、3800g/モルを下限として固定した。

水440質量部中のスチレン0.7質量部、PEGMA2000 28質量部及び植物源から誘導される線状の脂肪アルコールとエチレンオキシドとの縮合により製造されるポリオキシエチレンアルキルエーテルをベースとする水中油型エマルジョンの製造用の汎用の非イオン乳化剤(Emulgin B2 PH)1.14質量部の溶液を、65℃に加熱した。65℃で、水14質量部中に溶解させた過硫酸ナトリウム0.5質量部を、反応混合物に添加し、同時に温度を80℃に上昇させた。10分後に、水180質量部中のスチレン6.3質量部、PEGMA2000 25.2質量部及びEmulgin B2 PH 1.8質量部を2.5時間の間に添加した。同時に、水80質量部中に溶解させた過硫酸ナトリウム1質量部を、2.5時間の間に添加した。反応混合物を、80℃で5時間保持した。ついで反応混合物を室温に冷却した。乳白状のエマルジョンが得られた。
実験を、A. Brindley S. S. Davis, M. C. Davies, J. F. Watts, Journal of Colloid and Interface Science 1995, 171, 150-161に記載された、修正した文献の手順に従って実施した。反応器中で、スチレン5.2質量部を、脱イオン水880質量部中で70℃で窒素雰囲気下で撹拌した(300rpm)。PEGMA2000 50質量%水溶液216質量部及び過硫酸ナトリウム0.5質量部を、70℃で同時に添加し、ついで、反応媒体を、70℃で24時間の間さらに撹拌してから、水蒸気蒸留による精製にかけた。SECにより見出されたMnは43100g/モルであった。
トルエン300質量部、凍結乾燥した(フリーズドライの)PEGMA2000 126質量部及びスチレン6.3質量部を窒素下で混合し、80℃に加熱した。その後、トルエン15質量部中に溶解させた2,2′−アゾビス(2−メチルブチロニトリル)(Wako V 59、Wako Chemicals GmbH、独国)2.65質量部を、反応器に75℃で添加した。反応混合物を、80℃で24時間保持した。澄明な溶液が得られた。室温に冷却した後に、ポリマーを、2−メトキシ−2−メチルプロパン(MTBE 1500mL)中での沈殿により精製した。真空オーブン中で40℃で一晩乾燥した後に、白色粉末を得た。

イソプロパノール300.4質量部、水中のPEGMA2000 50質量%溶液400質量部及び2,2′−アゾビス(2−メチルブチロニトリル)(Wako V 59、Wako Chemicals GmbH、独国)0.025質量部を窒素下で混合し、75℃に加熱した。その後、イソプロパノール9.6質量部中に溶解させた2,2′−アゾビス(2−メチルブチロニトリル)(Wako V 59、Wako Chemicals GmbH、独国)0.375質量部を、反応器中へ70℃で1時間以内に添加した。さらに、イソプロパノール80質量部中のスチレン5.2質量部及びイソプロパノール100質量部中のWako V 59 2質量部を、それから2時間以内に逐次添加した。その後、イソプロパノール100質量部及びWako V 59 2質量部を、6hの間に添加した。反応混合物全部を、70℃でさらに2時間保持してから、水蒸気蒸留による精製にかけた。SECにより見出されたMnは18500g/モルであった。乾燥後に、白色粉末を回収した。
散逸モニタリングを伴う水晶振動子マイクロバランス(QCM−D)は、そのセンサの表面での質量変化と逆比例する、励振後に自由振動する水晶の振動数を測定する。Q-Sense E4(Biolin Scientific Holding AB)操作システムは、約2ng/cm2の質量感度を有する。QCM測定を、標準の流通法を用いて23℃で250μL/分の流量で実施した。典型的な実験は、次の工程を含んでいた:1)HEPES緩衝液10ミリモル/L、pH 7(=“緩衝液”)、安定なベースラインに達成するまで;2)緩衝液中の0.1質量%ポリマー溶液 2h;3)緩衝液 2h;4)緩衝液中の0.1質量%粉乳 0.5h;5)緩衝液 0.5h。
該モデル表面上でのポリマーの吸着を、単分子層が形成されるまで、修飾した水晶センサ表面をHEPES緩衝液中の0.1質量%ポリマー溶液で平衡化することにより実施した(上記の工程2))。その後、該センサ表面を、安定な質量の読みが得られるまで、緩衝液でリンスした(上記の工程3))。
ポリエーテルスルホンをベースとし、膜当たり7つのボアを含んでいる1本のマルチボア限外ろ過膜(inge、Multibore(登録商標) 0.9、膜直径4mm、ボア直径0.9mm)を、水中の0.1質量%ポリマー溶液中に数時間(少なくとも2時間)ディッピングし、続いて大量の水でリンスして、過剰の該ポリマーを除去することにより、ポリマー単分子層でコートした。
長さ60cmの1本のMultibore(登録商標)中空糸の純水透過係数(PWP)を、ブランク膜、ポリマーコートした膜及び室温で0.3〜0.4barの適用される膜間差圧を用いる乳ファウリング後の双方の膜タイプについて決定した。流束回収率(“FR”)を計算した:次の等式を用いて、a)ポリマーコーティング後及びb)乳タンパク質でのファウリング後:
ポリエーテルスルホンをベースとする市販の限外ろ過平膜(Nadir(登録商標) UP150、UP050及びUP020)を、水中の0.1質量%ポリマー溶液中に2時間浸漬し、続いて大量の水でリンスして、過剰の該ポリマーを除去することにより、ポリマー単分子層でディップコーティングした。
PES Nadir(登録商標) UP150、UP050、UP020平膜のPWP試験を、デッドエンドセル中で室温で、直径10cmの市販の膜、固定圧力1bar及び純水300〜600mLを用いて実施した。
ろ過モジュールを、ポリエーテルスルホンをベースとし、膜当たり7つのボアを含んでいる長さ20cmの3本のマルチボア限外ろ過膜(inge、Multibore(登録商標) 0.9、膜直径4mm、ボア直径0.9mm)を用いて管中に組み込んで製造した。Multibore(登録商標)中空糸を、エポキシ樹脂でのポッティングにより、該管内で端部シールした。
該Convergenceシステムを、0.01質量%乳タンパク質溶液(すなわち脱脂粉乳から得られる、Merck)を用いて3kg/hの一定のフィードでデッドエンド条件下で運転した。純水での逆洗を20秒毎に適用し、続いて、該膜間差圧(TMP)が0.8barの最大値に達した際に行われるように調整した30ミリモル/L水酸化ナトリウム溶液を用いる薬品強化逆洗(CEB)を適用した。TMPの変動を、コートした及び未コートのモジュールの双方について時間に対して記録した。
必要とされるCEBの総数及び生成した水の総量を、ブランク膜を含有するモジュール(例18.1)及びポリマーコートしたモジュール(例18.2)について計算し、第4表に示す。
第5表に示された、異なる細孔径を有する限外ろ過の市販のPES Nadir(登録商標) UP150、UP050及びUP020平膜を、X2ポリマーでコートし、例17.3に詳述された手順を続けた。

AFMカンチレバーは、その最初の曲げ共振周波数に近い周波数で外部アクチュエータにより駆動され、かつラスター走査法において表面全体で走査される。該カンチレバーを該表面に近づけると、ナノメートルスケールでの相互作用力が生じ、該力がカンチレバー振動を減衰させる。該測定中に、そのカンチレバー高さを、その振動振幅を一定に保持するために、フィードバック制御により調節した。これは該表面のトポグラフィー像を提供する。
カンチレバーチップと試料との間の、機械的性質並びに物理化学的性質の双方における、相互作用力は、該アクチュエータの外部励振信号と該カンチレバー応答との間の該位相シフトに直接影響を及ぼす。したがって、該位相像は材料特性に直接関連しており、かつ弾性率、粘弾性及び付着特性の組合せに関する情報を提供し、かつ定性的な材料コントラストを提供する。
AFMでの力測定を、コロイダルプローブ技術により実施し、ここで、シャープなチップを、マイクロメートルサイズのコロイダルスフィアにより置き換えて、ナノ機械的測定における力の感度を改善し、Butt et al., Surface Science Reports, 2005, 59, 1-152に記載されたように、相互作用力の定量分析を可能にする。該コロイダルプローブの適切な化学修飾を選択することにより、特異的な相互作用力を測定することができた。
Claims (23)
- 表面Oのファウリングを低下させる方法であって、スチレン及び(メタ)アクリル酸とポリエチレンオキシドとの少なくとも1つのエステルEを0.05:1〜50:1のモル比で含んでいる少なくとも1つのポリマーPの水溶液Sを前記表面Oに適用し、前記水溶液Sが水を少なくとも50質量%含んでいる、ファウリングを低下させる方法。
- 前記表面Oが膜Mである、請求項1記載の方法。
- 前記少なくとも1つのエステルEが、300〜10000g/モルの平均モル質量Mnを有する、請求項1又は2記載の方法。
- 前記少なくとも1つのエステルEが、800〜3000g/モルの平均モル質量Mnを有する、請求項1から3までのいずれか1項記載の方法。
- 前記ポリマーPが、5000〜100000g/モルの平均モル質量Mnを有する、請求項1から3までのいずれか1項記載の方法。
- 前記ポリマーPが統計コポリマーである、請求項1から5までのいずれか1項記載の方法。
- 前記水溶液Sが、ポリマーPを0.001〜1質量%含んでいる、請求項1から6までのいずれか1項記載の方法。
- 前記ポリマーPが、溶液重合において得られたものである、請求項1から7までのいずれか1項記載の方法。
- 前記ポリマーPが、溶剤を基準として少なくとも50質量%の少なくとも1つのアルコールを含んでいる溶剤中の溶液重合において得られたものである、請求項8記載の方法。
- 前記ポリマーPを、1日〜24ヶ月の間隔で前記表面Oに適用する、請求項1から9までのいずれか1項記載の方法。
- 前記膜Mが、RO、FO、NF、UF又はMF膜である、請求項2から10までのいずれか1項記載の方法。
- 前記方法を、工業廃水もしくは都市廃水、海水、かん水、河川水、表層水又は飲料水の処理、海水又はかん水の淡水化、透析、プラズモリシス(plasmolysis)あるいは食品及び飲料の加工において使用する、請求項1から11までのいずれか1項記載の方法。
- スチレン及び(メタ)アクリル酸とポリエチレンオキシドとの少なくとも1つのエステルEを0.3:1〜15:1のモル比で含んでいるポリマーであって、(メタ)アクリル酸とポリエチレンオキシドとの前記少なくとも1つのエステルEが、1500〜10000g/モルの平均モル質量Mnを有する、ポリマー。
- 前記ポリマーが、スチレン及び少なくとも1つのエステルEを0.5:1〜2:1のモル比で含んでいる、請求項13記載のポリマー。
- 前記ポリマーPが、5000〜100000g/モルの平均モル質量Mnを有する、請求項13又は14記載のポリマー。
- 前記コポリマーが、スチレン及びエステルEの溶液重合により得られたものである、請求項13から15までのいずれか1項記載のポリマー。
- スチレン及び(メタ)アクリル酸とポリエチレンオキシドとの少なくとも1つのエステルEを0.05:1〜50:1のモル比で含んでいるポリマーであって、前記少なくとも1つのエステルEが、300〜10000g/モルの平均モル質量Mnを有し、かつ前記ポリマーPが、溶液重合により得られたものである、ポリマー。
- 前記ポリマーが、溶剤を基準として少なくとも50質量%の少なくとも1つのアルコールを含んでいる溶剤中の溶液重合により得られたものである、請求項17記載のポリマー。
- 請求項13から18までのいずれか1項記載のコポリマーを製造する方法であって、前記方法が、スチレン及びエステルEの溶液重合を含んでいる、コポリマーの製造方法。
- 前記溶液重合を、溶剤を基準として少なくとも50質量%の少なくとも1つのアルコールを含んでいる溶剤中で実施する、請求項19記載の方法。
- 膜のファウリングを低下させるための、請求項13から18までのいずれか1項記載のポリマーの使用。
- スチレン及び(メタ)アクリル酸とポリエチレンオキシドとの少なくとも1つのエステルEを0.05:1〜50:1のモル比で含んでいる少なくとも1つのポリマーPの層を表面上に含んでいる膜。
- 少なくとも1つのポリマーPの前記層が、自己組織化単分子層である、請求項22記載の膜。
