Ag2O + 2OH− → 2AgO + H2O + 2e− (2)
正極活物質として、平均粒子径:5μmの酸化銀(Ag2O)を用い、導電助剤として、BET比表面積が68m2/gのアセチレンブラック(炭素材料A、一次粒子の平均粒子径:35nm)と、BET比表面積が20m2/gで、平均粒子径が3.7μmである黒鉛粒子とを用い、添加剤として二酸化マンガンを用いて正極合剤層を形成した。
酸化銀、アセチレンブラック、黒鉛粒子および二酸化マンガンを、それぞれ92.5質量%、1質量%、4質量%および2.5質量%となる割合で混合して正極合剤を構成した以外は、実施例1と同様にして正極合剤成形体を作製し、アルカリ二次電池を組み立てた。
酸化銀、アセチレンブラック、黒鉛粒子および二酸化マンガンを、それぞれ92.5質量%、4質量%、1質量%および2.5質量%となる割合で混合して正極合剤を構成した以外は、実施例1と同様にして正極合剤成形体を作製し、アルカリ二次電池を組み立てた。
酸化銀、アセチレンブラックおよび二酸化マンガンを、それぞれ92.5質量%、5質量%および2.5質量%となる割合で混合して正極合剤を構成した以外は、実施例1と同様にして正極合剤成形体を作製し、アルカリ二次電池を組み立てた。
アセチレンブラックを、BET比表面積が39m2/gのもの(一次粒子の平均粒子径:48nm)に変更した以外は、実施例1と同様にして正極合剤成形体を作製し、アルカリ二次電池を組み立てた。
アセチレンブラックに代えて、BET比表面積が27m2/gの黒鉛化カーボンブラック(炭素材料A、一次粒子の平均粒子径:70nm)を用いた以外は、実施例1と同様にして正極合剤成形体を作製し、アルカリ二次電池を組み立てた。
アセチレンブラックに代えて、BET比表面積が13m2/gの気相法炭素繊維(炭素材料A、繊維径:150nm)を用いた以外は、実施例1と同様にして正極合剤成形体を作製し、アルカリ二次電池を組み立てた。
酸化銀、黒鉛粒子および二酸化マンガンを、それぞれ92.5質量%、5質量%および2.5質量%となる割合で混合して正極合剤を構成した以外は、実施例1と同様にして正極合剤成形体を作製し、アルカリ二次電池を組み立てた。
アセチレンブラックを、BET比表面積が133m2/gのもの(一次粒子の平均粒子径:23nm)に変更した以外は、実施例1と同様にして正極合剤成形体を作製し、アルカリ二次電池を組み立てた。
実施例1〜7、比較例1および比較例2の電池を、2mAで放電(終止電圧:1.0V)させ、次いで4mAで充電(終止電圧:1.85V)したときの放電容量および充電容量を測定し、前記放電容量に対する前記充電容量の割合から充電効率を評価した。
実施例1〜7、比較例1および比較例2の電池に対し、充電(電流値:4mA、終止電圧:1.85V)および放電(電流値:2mA、終止電圧:1.2V)を1サイクルとする充放電サイクルを100サイクル繰り返し、1サイクル目の放電容量に対する100サイクル目の放電容量の割合(容量維持率)により充放電サイクル特性を評価した。
実施例1〜7、比較例1および比較例2の電池を、2mAで放電(終止電圧:1.2V)させ、次いで4mAで充電(終止電圧:1.85V)し、充電後の電池を60℃で30日間保持し、貯蔵前後での電池の厚みの変化量を測定して、電池の膨れの程度から高温貯蔵特性を評価した。

Claims (3)
- 正極活物質である銀酸化物と導電助剤とを含有する正極合剤層を有する正極、負極およびアルカリ電解質を有するアルカリ二次電池であって、
前記正極合剤層は、前記導電助剤として、カーボンブラックおよび炭素繊維より選択され、BET比表面積が85m2/g以下である少なくとも1種の炭素材料Aを含有し、
前記正極合剤層中における前記炭素材料Aの含有量が、0.5〜8質量%であることを特徴とするアルカリ二次電池。 - 前記正極合剤層は、前記導電助剤として、平均粒子径が1〜7μmの黒鉛粒子を更に含有している請求項1に記載のアルカリ二次電池。
- 前記正極合剤層の厚みが0.4mm以下である請求項2に記載のアルカリ二次電池。
