Abstract
Description
−平均直径が30〜60nmである軽質炭酸カルシウム粒子の、実質的にバインダーを含まない水系スラリーを提供する工程と、
−上記スラリーを、好ましくは、噴霧ノズル又はアトマイザーディスクを使用する噴霧乾燥装置内で乾燥する工程と、
−得られた乾燥状態の顆粒を回収する工程と、を含む方法により製造される。
−平均直径が1〜50μm、約2〜40μm、特に約2.5〜30μm、好ましくは約4〜15μmである軽質炭酸カルシウムの乾燥顆粒の組成物を提供する工程と、
−上記顆粒を水相に混合して水系スラリーを得る工程と、
−上記顆粒をせん断力に供して脱凝集させ、平均直径が30〜60nmである軽質炭酸カルシウム粒子を得る工程とを、通常含む製造方法により、製造することができる。
下記表は、「穏やかな混合」又は「高エネルギーの効率的な混合」により、炊いた表面澱粉へ構造化されたPCC粒子を導入したときの表面澱粉の挙動を示す。
HiCatは、Roquette社製のカチオン性澱粉誘導体であり;Blankophorは、Blankophor社製の増白剤であり;EX−135は、FP−Pigments Oly社製であって、衝撃ミキサー技術を使用して上記のとおり製造した加工ナノ顆粒球である。上記粒子の平均粒子サイズは30〜60nmである。攪拌装置としてDispermatを使用した。
下記表2は、少量の構造化PCCを表面澱粉と適切に使用した場合の紙の剛性を示す。構造化PCC材の脱凝集は「効率的な混合」の場合に起こり、粘性の増加及び紙の剛性への影響は+10%である。
ブロック状の重質炭酸カルシウム(GCC)及びブロック状のPCCをnPCCと比較する別の検討を行った。下記表中、GCCは、60%粒径が2.0μm未満である一般的に使用されている重質炭酸カルシウムである。PCC1はnPCCであり、PCC2は平均粒子サイズが1.0μmであるブロック状の顔料である。
平均直径が約1〜50μmである図1に示すPCC顆粒を、ピンミル粉砕機Alpine Z100内でせん断力に供した。図2は、上記顆粒が脱凝集され、構成成分であるナノメートル範囲の一次粒子が生じたことを示す。
なお、本発明に係る技術は、ナノサイズのPCCが炭化から直接得られるか顆粒の脱凝集により得られるかどうかにかかわらず、塗料、印刷インク、プラスチック、接着剤、封止剤、表面サイズ剤、及び、パルプサイズ剤を改質するための(上記定義の)ナノサイズのPCCの組成物の使用を提供する。
Claims (23)
- 平均直径が30〜60nmである軽質炭酸カルシウムの一次粒子から形成された平均直径が1〜50μmである複数の略球形の顆粒を含み、水系懸濁液中の脱凝集により前記一次粒子の少なくとも一部を放出することができる、軽質炭酸カルシウムの組成物。
- 前記顆粒の平均サイズは約2〜40μm、特に約2.5〜30μm、好ましくは約4〜15μmである、請求項1に記載の組成物。
- 前記顆粒は、水系懸濁液中でせん断力に供されることにより前記一次粒子を放出することができる、請求項1又は2に記載の組成物。
- 軽質炭酸カルシウムの顆粒の実質的に乾燥した粉末を含む、請求項1〜3のいずれか一項に記載の組成物。
- 軽質炭酸カルシウムの一次粒子の水系スラリーを、好ましくは噴霧乾燥により乾燥させる工程であって、前記スラリーの固形分含有量は10〜50%、特に20〜40%、例えば約30±5%である工程と、得られた顆粒を回収する工程とにより得られる、請求項1〜4のいずれか一項に記載の組成物。
- 前記噴霧乾燥は、前記水系スラリーを噴霧乾燥装置内の噴霧ノズル又はアトマイザーディスクに通すことにより行われる、請求項5に記載の組成物。
- 前記顆粒はバインダーを含まない、請求項1〜6のいずれか一項に記載の組成物。
- 平均直径が1〜50μm、特に2〜40μmである複数の軽質炭酸カルシウム顆粒を含む組成物の製造方法であって、
−平均直径が30〜60nmである軽質炭酸カルシウム粒子の、実質的にバインダーを含まない水系スラリーを提供する工程と、
−前記スラリーを、好ましくは、噴霧ノズル又はアトマイザーディスクを使用する噴霧乾燥装置内で乾燥する工程と、
−得られた乾燥状態の顆粒を回収する工程と、を含む方法。 - 固形分含有量が10〜50%、特に20〜40%、例えば約30±5%である水系スラリーを噴霧乾燥する工程を含む、請求項8に記載の方法。
- バインダーをさらに含む水系スラリー状の軽質炭酸カルシウムの組成物であって、平均直径が30〜60nmである軽質炭酸カルシウム粒子を、前記バインダーの重量から算出した量で、1〜35%、有利には約5〜20%含む、組成物。
- 前記バインダーは、澱粉、修飾澱粉などの天然多糖類、修飾多糖類、及び、合成ラテックスの群から選択される、請求項10に記載の組成物。
- 前記軽質炭酸カルシウムの粒子は、軽質炭酸カルシウムの顆粒、特にはバインダーを含まない軽質炭酸カルシウムの顆粒であって、サイズが約2〜40μm、特に約2.5〜30μm、好ましくは約4〜15μmである顆粒を、水及び前記バインダーで形成される水系懸濁液中でせん断力に供することにより放出される、請求項10又は11に記載の組成物。
- 前記顆粒は、1〜10000s−1の範囲、典型的には10〜1000s−1のせん断速度に供される、請求項12に記載の組成物。
- −平均直径が1〜50μm、約2〜40μm、特に約2.5〜30μm、好ましくは約4〜15μmである軽質炭酸カルシウムの乾燥顆粒の組成物を提供する工程と、
−前記顆粒を水相に混合してバインダーを含む水系スラリーを得る工程と、
−前記顆粒をせん断力に供して脱凝集させ、平均直径が30〜60nmである軽質炭酸カルシウム粒子を得る工程と、を含む、請求項10〜13のいずれか一項に記載の組成物の製造方法。 - 前記乾燥顆粒はバインダーを含まない、請求項14に記載の方法。
- 好ましくは、前記水系スラリーが、バインダー重量から算出して、1〜35%、有利には約5〜20%の前記顆粒を含むように、前記水相中にバインダーを混合する工程を含む、請求項14又は15に記載の方法。
- 前記顆粒は、1〜10000s−1の範囲、典型的には10〜1000s−1のせん断速度に供される、請求項14〜16のいずれか一項に記載の方法。
- 繊維ウェブ及び繊維製品の塗工プロセスにおける、請求項10〜13のいずれか一項に記載の組成物の使用。
- 前記組成物は塗工剤に調製される、請求項18に記載の使用。
- 前記組成物は、紙剛性の向上能を有する繊維ウェブの製造に使用される、請求項18又は19に記載の使用。
- 塗料のバインダー、印刷インク、プラスチック、接着剤、封止剤、表面サイズ剤、及び、パルプサイズ剤の改質プロセスにおける、請求項10〜13のいずれか一項に記載の組成物の使用。
- 平均直径が1〜50μm、特に2〜40μmである複数の軽質炭酸カルシウム顆粒を含む組成物を製造する工程を含む、平均直径が20〜60nmである軽質炭酸カルシウム粒子の保存方法であって、
−平均直径が30〜60nmである軽質炭酸カルシウム粒子の、実質的にバインダーを含まない水系スラリーを提供する工程と、
−前記スラリーを、好ましくは、噴霧ノズル又はアトマイザーディスクを使用する噴霧乾燥装置内で乾燥する工程と、
−得られた乾燥状態の顆粒を回収する工程と、を含み、
