Claims (19)
- 光ファイバコネクタであって、
第1のフェース及び第2のフェースを備えた本体を有し、
前記本体内に形成されていて前記第1のフェースに形成された第1の開口部と前記第2のフェースに形成された第2の開口部との間に延びる通路を有し、前記通路は、光ファイバを受け入れるよう構成され、前記通路は、
前記第1のフェースから内方に延び且つ第1の幅を備えた第1の通路区分を有し、
前記第2のフェースから内方に延び且つ第2の幅を備えた第2の通路区分を有し、前記第2の幅は、前記第1の幅よりも小さく、
前記第1の通路区分と前記第2の通路区分との間に配置された移行区分を有し、
前記移行区分内に配置された接着剤配合物を有し、前記接着剤配合物は、固形物であり、前記接着剤配合物は、前記接着剤配合物の溶融及び凝固に続き、光ファイバを前記第2の通路区分の内面に結合するよう構成されている、光ファイバコネクタ。 - 前記接着剤配合物は、前記移行区分内に配置された状態で前記第2の通路区分の内側端部のところに配置された内側入口を塞いでいる、請求項1記載の光ファイバコネクタ。
- 前記移行区分は、第1の端及び第2の端を有し、前記第1の通路区分の内側端部が前記移行区分の前記第1の端に移行し、前記移行区分の前記第2の端は、前記第2の通路区分の前記内側端部に移行している、請求項2記載の光ファイバコネクタ。
- 前記第1の通路区分は、前記第1のフェースから前記移行区分の前記第1の端まで延びる円筒形ボアであり、前記第1の幅は、第1の直径であり、
前記第2の通路区分は、前記第2のフェースから前記移行区分の前記第2の端まで延びる円筒形ボアであり、前記第2の幅は、第2の直径であり、
前記第1の直径は、前記第2の直径の少なくとも2倍であり、
前記第1の通路区分の軸方向長さが前記本体の軸方向長さの半分よりも大きく、
前記第2の通路区分の軸方向長さが前記移行区分の軸方向長さよりも大きく且つ前記本体の前記軸方向長さの1/3未満である、請求項3記載の光ファイバコネクタ。 - 前記本体は、外径を有し、前記第1の直径は、前記本体の前記外径の30%を超える、請求項4記載の光ファイバコネクタ。
- 前記接着剤配合物の少なくとも95%が前記本体の軸方向中点と前記移行区分の前記第2の端との間に配置されている、請求項3〜5のうちいずれか一に記載の光ファイバコネクタ。
- 前記移行区分は、前記第2のフェースからの距離が減少するにつれて減少する可変幅を有する、請求項1〜6のうちいずれか一に記載の光ファイバコネクタ。
- 前記移行区分は、切頭円錐形内面を有する、請求項7記載の光ファイバコネクタ。
- 前記切頭円錐形内面は、前記本体の長手方向軸線に対して30°〜80°の角度をなし、前記切頭円錐形内面は、前記移行区分の第1の端から前記移行区分の第2の端まで延びている、請求項8記載の光ファイバコネクタ。
- 前記切頭円錐形内面は、前記本体の軸方向中点と前記第2のフェースとの間に配置されている、請求項8又は9記載の光ファイバコネクタ。
- 前記接着剤配合物の少なくとも50%が前記移行区分内に配置されている、請求項1〜10のうちいずれか一に記載の光ファイバコネクタ。
- 前記接着剤配合物は、前記本体の温度が40℃未満であるときに固形物である、請求項1〜11のうちいずれか一に記載の光ファイバコネクタ。
- 前記接着剤配合物は、固形粉末接着剤配合物であり、該固形粉末接着剤配合物は、前記移行区分内における前記固形粉末接着剤配合物の圧縮により前記移行区分に結合されている、請求項1〜12のうちいずれか一に記載の光ファイバコネクタ。
- 前記通路を通って前記第1のフェースから前記第2のフェースまで延びる光ファイバを更に有する、請求項1〜13のうちいずれか一に記載の光ファイバコネクタ。
- 前記第1の幅は、前記第2の幅の少なくとも4倍である、請求項1〜14のうちいずれか一に記載の光ファイバコネクタ。
- 請求項1〜15のうちいずれか一に記載の光ファイバコネクタを形成する方法であって、前記方法は、
前記光ファイバコネクタの前記本体及び前記通路を用意するステップと、
前記接着剤配合物を前記通路の前記移行区分内に配置するステップと、
前記光ファイバコネクタを光ファイバに結合しない状態で前記配置ステップに続き、前記光ファイバコネクタを少なくとも1日間貯蔵するステップとを含む、方法。 - 前記接着剤配合物を固形粉末として調製するステップを更に含み、前記接着剤配合物を前記移行区分内に配置する前記ステップは、前記固形粉末を圧縮によって前記移行区分内で前記本体に結合するステップを含む、請求項16記載の方法。
- 前記接着剤配合物を前記接着剤配合物の溶融温度よりも高く加熱し、それにより前記固形粉末が流動状態になるようにするステップと、
光ファイバを前記通路中に挿入するステップと、
前記本体を冷却して前記接着剤配合物を凝固させ、それにより前記光ファイバを前記第2の通路区分内に固定するステップとを更に含む、請求項17記載の方法。 - 前記光ファイバは、前記光ファイバが前記通路中に挿入されたときに溶融状態の前記接着剤配合物を前記通路の前記第2の通路区分中に引き込む、請求項18記載の方法。
