Abstract
Description
本特許出願は、2013年2月22に出願された「Lightweight Thermal Shield」という題名の米国仮特許出願第61/767,854号、および2013年3月15日に出願された「Lightweight Thermal Shield with a Compliant Insulation Layer」という題名の米国仮特許出願第61/792,346号の利益を主張する。上記文献の各々は、その全体として参照することによって本明細書において援用される。
本願は、概して、高温用途において使用するための熱シールドに関し、いくつかの実施形態では、温度に敏感な構成要素を近傍放射熱源から保護するための車両内の軽量熱シールドに関する。
車両用途におけるヒートシールドは、電子パッケージ、センサ、配線、および他の熱に敏感なシステムを、高温で動作し、実質的量の熱を放射する、車両の高温構成要素から保護するために使用される。そのような構成要素の非限定的リストとして、ターボチャージャ、排気マニホールド、排気パイプ、触媒コンバータ、および同等物が挙げられる。高温構成要素は、多くの場合、600℃を上回る温度で動作することができ、ある場所では、800℃にさえ達し得、概して、換気が制限される、エンジン室内、または熱に敏感なシステムが、熱源から遠く離れるように再配置されることができない、車両の下に位置する。
概略すると、本開示の一実施形態は、それを通して水分の通過を可能にするように構成される、支持スクリーンを含む、軽量熱シールドを備える。支持スクリーンは、上側または第1の表面と、下側または第2の表面と、周縁と、平面外に延在する少なくとも1つの湾曲部分とを有し、3次元形状を形成する。軽量熱シールドはまた、支持スクリーンの上側または第1の表面に接着され、支持スクリーンの形状に実質的に共形化する、断熱層を含む。
ここで、類似部品が、いくつかの図全体を通して類似参照番号で識別される、図面をより詳細に参照する。図1は、先行技術に典型的に見出され得る、車両のための例示的ヒートシールド10を図示する。従来のヒートシールド10は、多くの場合、車両の高温構成要素および保護される熱に敏感なデバイスまたはセンサを分離するために、車両内で利用可能な限られた空間内に嵌合する、所望の3次元形状にパンチまたは型抜きされる、2つの金属シート12またはシート金属層から形成される。金属シート12の一方または両方、多くの場合、放射される熱をヒートシールドから偏向させるように構成される、反射性外側表面14を具備する一方、薄断熱布地シート(図示せず)が、シート12間に狭入され、クラムシェルの内部表面が相互に接触しないように防止し、それによって、熱シールド10の本体を通る熱伝導の経路を遮断する。
Claims (20)
- 車両上の構成要素間の熱の伝達を阻止するための熱シールドであって、前記熱シールドは、
外側表面、内側表面、前記内側表面と前記外側表面との間の厚さ、および平面外に延在する少なくとも1つの湾曲部分を有し、3次元形状を形成する、外側シェル層と、
前記内側表面に結合され、実質的に、前記外側シェル層の形状に共形化する、コア断熱層であって、前記コア断熱層は、前記外側シェル層の厚さの約10倍以上の厚さを有する乾燥された繊維状断熱材料の少なくとも1つの層から形成されている、コア断熱層と
を備える、熱シールド。 - 前記コア断熱層は、前記外側シェル層の厚さの20倍よりも厚いか、または前記外側シェル層の厚さの約20倍の厚さを有する、請求項1に記載の熱シールド。
- 前記外側シェル層は、アルミめっき鋼を備える、請求項1に記載の熱シールド。
- 前記外側シェル層は、約0.010インチ〜約0.018インチの範囲の厚さを有する、請求項1に記載の熱シールド。
- 前記コア断熱層は、前記熱シールドの全体的構造強度および剛度の大部分を提供する、請求項1に記載の熱シールド。
- 前記乾燥された繊維状断熱材料はさらに、1401ミルボードを備える、請求項1に記載の熱シールド。
- 前記コア断熱層はさらに、シリカファイバから形成される乾燥された繊維状断熱材料の第1の層と、ファイバガラスファイバから形成される乾燥された繊維状断熱材料の第2の層とを備える、請求項1に記載の熱シールド。
- 前記外側シェル層の周縁に結合され、前記コア断熱層の反対表面を被覆する、内側シェル層をさらに備える、請求項1に記載の熱シールド。
- 前記外側シェル層と前記内側シェル層との間の前記コア断熱層内に間隙をさらに備える、請求項8に記載の熱シールド。
- 前記間隙は、金属箔をさらに備える熱インサートで充填されている、請求項9に記載の熱シールド。
- 前記コア断熱層の反対表面を覆い、高温構成要素に接触するように適合されている、スクリムライナをさらに備える、請求項1に記載の熱シールド。
- 前記コア断熱層の反対表面を通して延在し、高温構成要素に接触するように適合されている、熱スタンドオフをさらに備える、請求項1に記載の熱シールド。
- 軽量熱シールドを作製する方法であって、前記方法は、
成形面を伴う成形された支持スクリーンを有する金型を得ることであって、前記成形面は、それを通して空気および水分の通過を可能にするように構成され、前記金型は、前記支持スクリーンの背後から真空を引き込むために適合される、ことと、
湿潤断熱材料を前記支持スクリーンの成形面上に適用することと、
前記支持スクリーンを通して真空を引き込み、前記湿潤断熱材料から水分を引き出し、前記支持スクリーンの成形面の上部に、実質的に一定厚を有する断熱材料の層を圧密化することと、
前記断熱材料の圧密化された層を前記支持スクリーンの成形面から除去することと、
前記断熱材料の圧密化された層を、ある厚さを有する外側シェル層の中に取り付けることと、
前記外側シェル層内の前記断熱材料の圧密化された層を乾燥させ、乾燥された断熱材料のコア断熱層を形成することと
を含む、方法。 - 前記断熱材料の厚さは、前記外側シェル層の厚さの約10倍以上である、請求項13に記載の方法。
- 前記コア断熱層はさらに、1401ミルボードを備える、請求項13に記載の方法。
- 前記外側シェル層の周縁に結合されている内側シェル層を結合し、前記コア断熱層の反対表面を被覆することをさらに含む、請求項13に記載の方法。
- 車両上の構成要素間の熱の伝達を阻止するための熱シールドであって、前記熱シールドは、
第1の表面、第2の表面、周縁、および平面外に延在する少なくとも1つの湾曲部分を有し、3次元形状を形成する、支持スクリーンと、
前記第1の表面に接着され、実質的に、前記支持スクリーンの形状に共形化する、断熱層と
を備える、熱シールド。 - 前記スクリーンはさらに、ステンレス鋼ワイヤメッシュを備える、請求項17に記載の熱シールド。
- 前記断熱層は、乾燥されたパルプ材料を備える、請求項17に記載の熱シールド。
- 前記支持スクリーンの反対にあり、実質的に、前記断熱層の形状に共形化する、第2の層をさらに備える、請求項17に記載の熱シールド。
