Abstract
【解決手段】第1の電極と、第2の電極と、を有し、第1の電極は、第1の電極活物質を有し、第2の電極は、第2の電極活物質及び第3の電極活物質を有し、第2の電極活物質は、第1の電極活物質の充放電効率よりも大きい充放電効率を有し、第3の電極活物質は、第2の電極活物質の充放電効率よりも小さい充放電効率を有し、第2の電極活物質の充放電効率と第1の電極活物質の充放電効率との差と第2の電極活物質の容量との積は、第1の電極活物質の充放電効率と第3の電極活物質の充放電効率との差と第3の電極活物質の容量との積よりも大きく、第2の電極活物質と第3の電極活物質との全体に対する第2の電極活物質の配合比は、第2の電極活物質と第3の電極活物質との全体に対する第3の電極活物質の配合比よりも小さいリチウムイオン二次電池である。

ただし、数式(1)において、R2は第2の電極活物質の配合割合を示し、E1は第1の電極活物質の充放電効率を示し、Q2は第2の電極活物質の容量を示し、E2は第2の電極活物質の充放電効率を示し、Q3は第3の電極活物質の容量を示し、E3は第3の電極活物質の充放電効率を示す。
本発明の一態様にかかるリチウムイオン二次電池110の作製方法について図1(A)及び(B)を用い、以下に説明する。図1(B)は、リチウムイオン二次電池110の断面図である。正極集電体100と、正極活物質層101と、セパレータ104と、負極活物質層103と、負極集電体102とを積み重ね、電解液105とともに外装体106により封止された状態の断面模式図である。なお、活物質層は集電体の両面に形成することもでき、二次電池を積層構造とすることも可能である。
本実施の形態においては、先の実施の形態で説明した二次電池を有する電子機器の一例について図4及び図5を用いて説明を行う。
本実施の形態では、実施の形態1を用いて得られるリチウムイオン二次電池を組み込んだ電子機器の一例を示す。図5(A)は、実施の形態1を用いて得られるリチウムイオン二次電池を組み込んだ電子機器の外観写真図であり、図5(B)は、該電子機器を側面から撮影した写真図であり、図5(C)は該電子機器を背面からの写真図である。図6は、該電子機器を側面から見たときの構造模式図である。
炭素系材料(黒鉛)と、酸素と珪素を有する化合物系材料とを活物質に用いて電極を作製した。電極は4種類作製し、炭素系材料(黒鉛)と酸素と珪素を有する化合物系材料の配合比はそれぞれ100:0(比較用),95:5,93:7,90:10であり、それぞれ電極A、電極B、電極C、電極Dとした。
実施例1で作製した電極に、それぞれ対極としてリチウム金属を組み合わせてハーフセルを作製した。特性の評価にはCR2032タイプ(直径20mm高さ3.2mm)のコイン型の二次電池を用いた。セパレータにはポリプロピレンとWhatman社製のガラス繊維濾紙であるGF/Cを積層して用いた。また電解液には、エチレンカーボネート(EC)とジエチルカーボネート(DEC)とを体積比で3:7の割合で混合した混合溶液中へ六フッ化リン酸リチウム(LiPF6)を1モル/リットルの濃度で溶解したものを用いた。正極缶及び負極缶として、ステンレス鋼(SUS)で形成されているものを用いた。
まず、リチウムマンガン複合酸化物を用いた正極活物質を作製する。出発材料としてLi2CO3とMnCO3とNiOを用い、モル比率がLi2CO3:MnCO3:NiO=0.84:0.8062:0.318となるようにそれぞれを秤量した。また比較試料となる比較試料Bを作製するために出発材料としてLi2CO3とMnCO3を用い、モル比率がLi2CO3:MnCO3=1:1となるように秤量した。
実施例1で作製した正極活物質と、PVdF(ポリフッ化ビニリデン)と、アセチレンブラックと、を極性溶媒の一つであるNMP(N−メチル−2−ピロリドン)と混合し、スラリーを得た。
作製した電極を用いてハーフセルを作製した。なお、対極には金属リチウムを用いた。作製した電極の充放電を行った。
作製したハーフセルの充電容量、および放電容量を測定した。結果を図8に示す。充電条件は、電流密度30mA/g、定電流充電、終止電圧4.8Vであった。また、放電条件は、電流密度30mA/g、定電流放電、終止電圧2.0Vであった。ここで電流密度は正極活物質重量あたりの値を算出している。充放電測定を行った温度は25℃であった。電極を用いたハーフセルでは、1サイクル目の充電容量は294.1mA/g、1サイクル目の放電容量は236.4mA/g、2サイクル目の充電容量は273.2mA/g、2サイクル目の放電容量は266.3mA/gであった。また、1サイクル目の充放電効率は80.38%であった。
作製した正極および負極を用いて、コインセルを作製した。リチウムマンガン複合酸化物と組み合わせる負極は、炭素系材料(黒鉛)と、酸素と珪素を有する化合物系材料の配合比が90:10の電極を用いた。正極の初回の充放電効率は80.38%であったため、近い値の初回の充放電効率を示す負極を選択した。特性の評価にはCR2032タイプ(直径20mm高さ3.2mm)のコインセルを用いた。セパレータにはポリプロピレンとWhatman社製のガラス繊維濾紙であるGF/Cを積層して用いた。また電解液には、エチレンカーボネート(EC)とジエチルカーボネート(DEC)とを体積比で3:7の割合で混合した混合溶液中へ六フッ化リン酸リチウム(LiPF6)を1モル/リットルの濃度で溶解したものを用いた。正極缶及び負極缶として、ステンレス鋼(SUS)で形成されているものを用いた。
次に、作製した正極および負極を用いて、単層の薄型二次電池を作製した。リチウムマンガン複合酸化物と組み合わせる負極は炭素系材料(黒鉛)と酸素と珪素を有する化合物系材料の配合比が90:10の電極を用いた(セルA)。比較例として正極活物質材料にLiCoO2、組み合わせる負極の活物質材料に黒鉛を用いた(酸素と珪素を有する化合物系材料を含まない)電極を用いた薄型二次電池も作製した(セルB)。外装体として熱溶着樹脂で覆われたアルミのフィルムを用いた。電極面積は、正極が20.5cm2、負極が23.8cm2であった。また、セパレータには25μm厚のポリプロピレン(PP)を用いた。
