Abstract
Description
本発明は、複合膜と共にその製造方法及び使用方法に向けられる。
複合ポリアミド膜は様々な液体の分離に使用される。膜の一般的なクラスの1つには、「薄フィルム」ポリアミド層でコートされた多孔質支持体が挙げられる。薄フィルム層は、不混和溶液から支持体上に連続してコートされる多官能性アミン(例えば、m−フェニレンジアミン)と多官能性ハロゲン化アシル(例えば、塩化トリメソイル)モノマー間の界面重縮合反応によって形成され得る、例えば、Cadotteに対する米国特許第4277344号を参照のこと。膜性能を改善するために、様々な構成要素がコーティング溶液の一方又は両方に加えられてもよい。例えば、Cadotteに対する米国特許第4259183号では、二官能性と三官能性ハロゲン化アシルモノマーの組合せ、例えば、塩化イソフタロイル又は塩化テレフタロイルと、塩化トリメソイルの使用について記載している。Mickolsに対する米国特許第6878278号では、ハロゲン化アシルコーティング溶液への、様々なリン含有種を含めた様々な錯化剤の添加について記載している。米国出願公開第2011/0049055号では、スルホニル、スルフィニル、スルフェニル、スルフリル、ホスホリル、ホスホニル、ホスフィニル、チオホスホリル、チオホスホニル、及びカルボニルハライドから得られた基の添加について記載している。米国特許第6521130号では、重合前の、一方若しくは両方のモノマーコーティング溶液へのカルボン酸(例えば、脂肪族若しくは芳香族カルボン酸)又はカルボン酸エステルの添加が記載されている。同様に、米国特許第6024873号、同第5989426号、同第5843351号、及び同第5576057号では、一方のコーティング溶液への、8〜14(cal/cm3)1/2の溶解度パラメータを有する選択されたアルコール、エーテル、ケトン、エステル、ハロゲン化炭化水素、窒素含有化合物、及び硫黄含有化合物の添加について記載している。米国出願公開第2009/0107922号では、一方又は両方のコーティング溶液への様々な「鎖キャッピング試薬」、例えば1,3−プロパンスルトン、塩化ベンゾイル、1,2−ビス(ブロモアセトキシ)エタンなどの添加について記載している。米国特許第4606943号及び同第6406626号では、多官能性アミン及び多官能性ハロゲン化アシルと共に多官能性酸無水ハライド(例えば、塩化トリメリト酸無水物)を使用した薄フィルムポリアミドの形成について記載している。米国出願公開第2009/0272692号、同第2010/0062156号、同第2011/0005997号、国際公開第2009/129354号、同第2010/120326号、及び同第2010/120327号では、様々な多官能性ハロゲン化アシルとそれらの対応する部分的加水分解対応物の使用について記載している。Cadotteに対する米国特許第4812270号では、リン酸を用いた膜の後処理について記載している。米国特許第5582725号では、例えば、塩化ベンゾイルなどのハロゲン化アシルを用いた同様の後処置について記載している。
本発明は、多孔質支持体の表面に多官能性アミンと酸ハライドモノマーを適用し、そして、係るモノマーを界面で重合させて、薄フィルムポリアミド層を形成させるステップを包含する複合ポリアミド膜の製造方法を包含する。前記方法は、以下のステップ:i)少なくとも1つのカルボン酸官能基又はその塩、及び単独のアミン反応性官能基で置換された芳香族基を含むモノマーの存在下で界面重合を行うこと、及び/又はii)薄フィルムポリアミド層に係るモノマーを適用すること、のうちの少なくとも1つをさらに含む。本発明は、多くの追加実施形態を含む。
本発明は、複合膜の特定のタイプ、構造もしくは形状、又は用途に特に限定するものではない。例えば、本発明は、正浸透(FO)、逆浸透(RO)、ナノろ過(NF)、限外ろ過(UF)及びマイクロろ過(MF)流体分離を含む多様な用途において使用される平坦シート(flat sheet)、管及び中空繊維ポリアミド膜に適用できる。しかしながら、本発明は、すでに背景技術の項で説明したもののようなRO及びNF分離のために設計された膜に特に有用である。RO複合膜は、ほとんどすべての溶解塩に対して比較的不浸透性なので、例えば、塩化ナトリウムなどの一価イオンを持っている塩の約95%超が通常透過しない。RO複合膜はまた、無機分子、並びに約100ダルトン超の分子量を有する有機分子も約95%超を通常透過しない。NF複合膜は、RO複合膜より浸透性があり、一価イオンを持っている塩の約95%未満を透過しない一方で、二価イオンの種によって−二価イオンを持っている塩の約50%超(多くの場合、90%超)を通常透過しない。NF複合膜はまた、ナノメートルの範囲の粒子、並びに約200〜500ダルトン超の分子量を有する有機分子も通常透過しない。
α(Lxβ)y
{式中、αは在来のIUPAC周期律表の(a)IIIA−VIB族(すなわち、IIIA、IVA、VA、VIA、VIIA、VIIIA、IB、IIB、IIIB、IVB、VB、VIB族)及び(b)3−6族(すなわち、Na、K、Rb、そしてCsで始まる元素群)に属する元素から選ばれる硫黄を含まない結合性コアである}。在来のIUPAC周期律表のIIIAからVIB族はIUPAC周期律表の“新版”の3−16族に対応しそして周期律表のCASバージョンのIIIB−VIAに対応する。混乱を避けるためにここでの更なる参照は在来のIUPAC周期律表を使用し、例えばIIIA族はSc、Y、La、等で始まる欄に対応し、そしてVIB族はO、S、Se、Te、Poから始まる欄に対応する。特定の例は(1)次の金属:アルミニウム、スカンジウム、チタン、バナジウム、クロム、マンガン、鉄、コバルト、ニッケル、銅、亜鉛、ガリウム、ゲルマニウム、ヒ素、イットリウム、ジルコン、ニオブ、モリブデン、テクネチウム、ルテニウム、ロジウム、パラジウム、銀、カドミウム、インジウム、スズ、アンチモン、テルル、ランタン、セリウム、プラシオジウム、ネオジウム、プロメシウム、サマリウム、ユーロピウム、ガドリウム、テルビウム、ジスプロシウム、ホロミウム、エルビウム、ツリウム、イッテルビウム、ルテチウム、ハフニウム、タンタル、タングステン、レニウム、オスミウム、イリジウム、白金、金、水銀、タリウム、鉛、ビスマス(ビスマスは典型的には好ましくない)、及びポロニウム;(2)次の半導体:ケイ素、セレニウム、及びゲルマニウム及び(3)リンを含む。特に好ましい結合性コアはAl、Si、P、As、Sb、Se及びTeそしてFe、Cr、Co、Ni、Cu、及びZnのような金属を含む。Lは炭素含有基、例えば芳香族基、アルカン、アルケン、−O−、−S−、−N−、−H−、−P−、−O−P−、及び−O−P−O−、(それぞれは置換していても置換していなくても良い)から選ばれる同じか又は異なった所望による化学連結基である。βは同じか又は異なったそして1から12の炭素原子を含む可溶化基で、置換していても置換していなくてもよくそしてLによって定義される内部結合基を含んでいてもよい。例としては脂肪族及び1から6の炭素原子を持つアレーン基、芳香族基、ヘテロ環基、及びアルキル基が包含される。xは0から1の整数そしてyは1から5の整数で、2から4が好ましい。使用される特定の溶媒及びアシルハライド種にもよるが、次の錯化剤が一般的に主題の発明に有用である:リンのトリ−フェニル誘導体(例えば、ホスフィン、ホスフェート)、ビスマス、ヒ素及びアンチモン;リン含有トリブチル及びジブチルホスファイトのアルカンオキシエステル;フェロセンや四エチル鉛のような有機金属錯体、及び鉄(II)、鉄(III)、コバルト(III)およびCr(III)のアセチルアセトナート錯体。このような錯化剤の好ましい分類は式(II)で表される。

それぞれの前述の米国特許文献の全体の内容を、参照により本明細書中に援用する。
サンプル複合ポリアミド膜を、4−カルボキシフタル酸無水物を「対象モノマー」として含む非極性溶液を用いて調製した。各サンプルを調製するのに用いた非極性溶液の総酸塩化物量は0.24%w/vで一定に保持した。主題モノマーの濃度は、サンプル間で0から0.03%w/vで変えた一方、残りの酸塩化物の量は唯一TMCによる寄与とした。非極性溶液はまた、トリブチルホスフェートを、TMCとのストイキオメトリーモル比 約1:1.3で含んでいた。試験結果を表1にて以下に纏める。
サンプル複合ポリアミド膜を、「対象モノマー」として4−カルボキシフタル酸無水物を含む非極性溶液を使用して調製した。各サンプルを調製するのに使用した非極性溶液中のTMC量を、0.13% w/vで一定に保った。対象モノマーの濃度は約0.016%w/v(サンプル2−3で)及び0%(サンプル1−3で)であった。非極性溶液はまた、9%のメシチレンを共溶媒として含んでいた。試験結果を表3にて以下に纏める。
サンプル複合ポリアミド膜を、TMC、及び「対象モノマー」として4−(オキシラン−2−イルメトキシ)安息香酸を含む非極性溶液を使用して調製した。各サンプルを調製するのに使用した非極性溶液中のTMC量を、0.11% w/vで一定に保った。対象モノマーの濃度を約0.016% w/v(サンプル2−4で)及び0%(サンプル1−4で)とした。非極性溶液はまた、8%のメシチレンを共溶媒として含んでいた。試験結果を表3にて以下に纏める。
[1] 多孔質支持体と薄フィルムポリアミド層を含む複合ポリアミド膜の製造方法であって、多官能性アミンモノマーと多官能性酸ハライドモノマーを該多孔質支持体の表面に適用し、そしてそれらのモノマーを界面で重合させて、薄フィルムポリアミド層を形成するステップを含み、以下のステップ:
i)少なくとも1つのカルボン酸官能基と単独のアミン反応性官能基で置換された芳香族基を含む対象モノマーの存在下で界面重合を行うこと;及び
ii)少なくとも1つのカルボン酸官能基又はその塩と単独のアミン反応性官能基で置換された芳香族基を含む対象モノマーを薄フィルムポリアミド層に適用すること、
のうちの少なくとも1つを含み、
該アミン反応性官能基が、無水物、イソシアネート及びエポキシから選択される、方法。

Claims (9)
- 多孔質支持体と薄フィルムポリアミド層を含む複合ポリアミド膜の製造方法であって、多官能性アミンモノマーと多官能性酸ハライドモノマーを該多孔質支持体の表面に適用し、そしてそれらのモノマーを界面で重合させて、薄フィルムポリアミド層を形成するステップを含み、以下のステップ:
i)少なくとも1つのカルボン酸官能基と単独のアミン反応性官能基で置換された芳香族基を含む対象モノマーの存在下で界面重合を行うこと;及び
ii)少なくとも1つのカルボン酸官能基又はその塩と単独のアミン反応性官能基で置換された芳香族基を含む対象モノマーを薄フィルムポリアミド層に適用すること、
のうちの少なくとも1つを含み、
該アミン反応性官能基が、無水物、イソシアネート及びエポキシから選択される、方法。 - 前記芳香族基が、複数のカルボン酸官能基を含む、請求項1に記載の方法。
